I agree, but my favorite is when Godzilla does the FacePalm.
It's close, but from what I saw the monster was much smaller and almost the entire head could split into four mouth parts.
Okay, this is how it all started for me.
It was Christmas day at my Grandma's house. Me and my sister were opening presents and my dad was fliping through the channels and landed on Godzilla, Mothra, King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters all out attack. It started at the end battle right before Mothra died and just the look of Godzilla and King Ghidorah memerized me. After that I tryed to find but instead Godzilla: Final Wars at a movie rental store. And after I got hooked ad have loved him ever since. Now I own I the movies and am close to getting all the Monsters action figures.
What's amazing is how smart Godzilla is, he know's Katagiri is an ass hole who tried to kill him. So Godzilla pretty much said " fuck you! time for me to destroy some more shit " LOL!
Still Mr. Shindo's emotional moment with Godzilla takes the cake for me

i was just about to say raptors when i saw that post. of course he could also thinck like a t.rex might have, one of the largest areas of their brain was devoted to not only muscle function, but strategic thought. the classic godzilla may not come from a t.rex, but the dino he does come from is quite similar.
godzillas origins should be somewaht kept mysterious, at least until a sequal. maybe he could be mutated by something having to do with or inside the meteor that killed the dinosaurs.
if 34 feet is the width of his tail, then he is tiny, think about it. this probably is a muto. still, it would be cool if someone did the math assuming that this is his foot.

I so agree. I also like at the end when Godzilla starts destroying every thing. Maybe that' how the new one should end.

I think it's clear that this Godzilla couldn't simply be the result of recent nuclear radiation. He's MUCH too large for even that. I'm guessing that perhaps he was like a normal Godzilla before, but was mutated eons ago, and generations of radiation, both natural and man-made, has made him into the super titan of a monster he will be in the film.
@GODZILLA3580 In "Pacific Rim: Man, Machines, and Monsters" book, its official, it says "HEIGHT" instead of "LENGHT" take a look 
As i said, I searched for very accurate info. I know in motion picture their sizes may change but Im based in official info stats for every monster

I have to say, I've been a godzilla fan for all of my life. But I hate his theme.
I do love the original music representing Godzilla in the original Gojira. That music was dark and creepy. However, the theme that he uses now is not, and it actually originally represented the army. They have since added an intro, and I'm sorry, but I HATE that intro. (sorry for the strong opinion)
Legendary and Gareth seem to really enjoy the atonal music from 2001: a space odyssey. I hope the score reflects this, because that was terrifying.
That being said, I am sure that Alexander Desplat is going to do everyone a solid and quote the theme in his score. He won't use it, but he might leave hints of it here and there. That would be really cool if he does it right.
So YOU are the painter of this image! I remember being annoyed by it because I wanted the official design, not some stupid artist crap =). In all honesty, this is an awesome painting, and I have always liked it. I would LOVE to see your revision with the real design. That's gonna be awesome!
Interesting to note, in Gojira, they usually say that nuclear weapons "awoke" him, not necessarilly created him. Maybe Legendary will do the same. For me, I still want him to be mutated by nuclear radiation. So maybe Godzilla was an ancient beast mutated and awoken in 1954 by nuclear radiation?

Iff Godzilla dies, then maybe we could have a very small scene where a lizard-sized "baby" runs around. Like a 3 second clip. Just to let us know that Godzilla cannot die.
I agree that baby G doesn't fit the atmosphere of the movie. However, if, and only if, Godzilla is killed (which might happen considering Serizawa is in this movie), I think their needs to be something that shows the audience that it isn't over. If hummanity continues their "scientific arrogance," than Godzilla will be back.
And yes, lizard sized. No Jurassic Park Raptors in this movie!
As much as I agree with all of you, I don't think it would hurt to crunch some numbers and make a prediction. It would be no closer to truth than any of the other crackpot theories out there, but i think it's worth a shot.
For the length of the depression, I found that 6 people fit within that length. If my reference was a guy, I have 34ft. If a girl, then 32. I would try and fit that as the maximum width of his tail (on the ground), and then the maximum length (or width) of his foot.
Again, I agree that this scene doesn't mean Godzilla's foot crushed the train, but I don't see why we can't try to work with what we have.

You bring up another point that I don't think people notice. The view we get of Godzilla isn't just cloudy, it's angled. The skydivers head is tilted when looking at him, which means the image of Godzilla is skewed. If you watch the skydive scene untill the very last moment, you'll see that Godzilla is fairly upright. The Godzilla 2000 reference was actually a very good comparison, but I think that's the extreme.

Kyero, not to mention that they wouldn't send ill equipped paratroopers in to the city. They aren't even wearing anything that would keep overdosing on radiation.
Right? There's too many unknowns in this scenario to take this as evidence.

Yeah, that's not much bigger at all.
It might be his foot, but it could just as easily be is tail that trails behind him.
But even then, there was still that other giant creature in the concept trailer, laying there.. dead. For all we know, that thing had made the imprint on the train.
You also have to remember that they did edit the train scene a bit. I just checked, there are a few minuscule differences.
But really, the train scene evidence is "circumstantial" at best when deducing Godzilla's size.
I haven't seen or read anything that claimed Godzilla was a crocidile. I've heard people making the claim that the scales look a bit crocidilian, but that's about it. That's something I agree on, just look at the bumps and the overall "roughness" of the scales that we're able to see on some of the official pictures of Godzilla (like the licensing expo).
The closest thing I can think of that's sort of like a lizard/fish are salamanders, though those are amphibians and not reptiles, which lizards are. They have gills that are not vestigial, and they can breathe above water as well. Also, snakeheads come to mind, though they are fish that can breathe above water for extended periods of time, as well as utilize their gills.
Having Godzilla be a mutated dinosaur would very much pull away from the realistic approach. So, I don't think they went that route. I believe that they've left out Godzilla's origins for the most part, though I could be wrong.
I believe that Godzilla should be intelligent. Not extremely intelligent, but where Godzilla is able to problem solve to a degree. It'd be interesting if Godzilla had a trial and error approach to combat. "I'll try grabbing it and putting it in my mouth. Maybe that will work.... nope, it's too fast. Maybe if I try smacking it with my tail? Would that work?" that sort of intelligence seems likely (not with the actual words appearing in Godzilla's mind, but showing it in his behavior). Unlike Akio, I think it'd be very believable if Godzilla was able to recognize some humans, especially reoccuring humans. I'm not saying he gets a flash back scene (cough cough Godzilla vs King Ghidorah cough cough), though I'm sure not many people will live long enough for Godzilla to become familiar with them.
But still, Godzilla should be intelligent, but not like he's a rocket scientist or anything.
Considering this train scene is also in the concept trailer before all this mutos stuff I believe that big smashed part of the train is still Godzilla's foot. Although we don't know what part of his foot and so on I still believe this just gives a little sneek peak at his size.
