I see the same images. Is the second one supposed to be zoomed or altered?

I looked at the full size of the new poster that has this scene and I must say... WOW! Great catch, a Nuke must have been used!
Now the question is... did the Military do this or Godzilla?

HOLY CRAP! i did not see that, i expected it in the movie but never noticed it in the poster, nice find! the only thing other than a nuke that i could see doing that would maybe be godzillas nuclear pulse.

I am not sure that is a crater. In the original Gojira, after his rampage, Tokyo is completely on fire and destroyed from Gojira. In this movie there are two other monsters, at least, right?
That battle could do alot of damage. Another reader suggested that Godzilla in the trailer is revivingh from a military attack that could be a MOAB. The newest MOAB's are over 37,000 lbs and can destroy something like half a dozen football stadiums. Perhaps two or three of those were used to attempt to kill Godzilla or his enemy or both.
We could also, though I hate to think it, be seeing the end of the movie. Godzilla survives...
I wouldn't put it past studio types who make trailers to reveal the end.

personally, i don't thinck its moabs, if there was really a godzilla, the millitary would be pretty desperate and therfore would be more likely to use nukes.

I don't think he was nuked. A very large powerfull Bomb short of a Nuke could create a very large crater. I think the dust cloud Godzilla is covered in is from a very powerful Bomb(s) strike. The British used Tall Boy Bombs which were 5 ton giants that were dropped on Battleship Tirpitz . Some landed close and caused extensive damage others hit the ship and essentially destroyed it. That was in WW2. Imagine what they would use short of a Nuke. If they did Nuke Godzilla they would't send in a team so soon afterward. The radiation and the nuclear fall out would render the site inaccessible. If your low on military resources your not going to risk what you have left if the objective is not clear.

If you're familiar with the bay area, you can see a nuke going off in the Oakland hills. Zoom in on the paratrooper who's head is next to a bright light. The fourth one from the top who doesn't look like a dot. Also, why is the golden gate bridge in the wrong place? Honestly, if this is the same artist who did the aircraft carrier poster with the carrier's island is one the left instead the right (like every carrier ever made) I think he's retarded. They probably just gave him a few keywords like san francisco, nuclear destruction, paratroopers and then slaped him/her on the ass and told him to go do it.

I'm not sure what you guys think you're seeing, but you have to remember something: If a nuke is used, there will be nothing of the city left standing.
Nothing.
Those buildings in the background? Gone. The bridge? Gone. The surrounding area? Gone. If they do use a nuke, it's going to cause much more wide spread devastation than what is depicted in that photo.

reillythegodzillafanDecember 13, 2013
they do because you cna see them loading the nuke on to a boat in the trailer

BCrockett94December 17, 2013
Kyero, not to mention that they wouldn't send ill equipped paratroopers in to the city. They aren't even wearing anything that would keep overdosing on radiation.
