MemberMothra LarvaeDec-17-2013 12:01 AMI think he will stand up right when looking around or fighting, but when moving, hunched over. Everything I've seen suggests hes a bit of both.
I don't understand the fan hate for him being 'hunched over'. The fact that a CGI realistic reature would look just awkward and silly standing 'straight up'. We have to remember, this is based on what works well realistically. We can't have Godzilla's head sitting flat on his neck like a humans, that isn't how animal's heads work. Even a Giraffe moves with its head neck hunched.

MemberMothra LarvaeDec-17-2013 12:39 AMThere is no doubt that G-fans are devoted, but (as a collective) we can also be very quick to judge (especially with this upcoming reincarnation). Many fans are already worrying about The King's posture after having seen him through the goggles of the HALO jumper in the trailer. It's important to remember that they are also seeing him through a dense blanket of smoke.
All we see in the opening sequence of the trailer is the silohouette of Godzilla.
What most are forgetting, is that Godzilla dorsal plates do not have to perfectly follow the contour of his back. They can increase in size very quickly from where they begin (along his neck) to where they are largest (which is typically below his shoulders). As a result, the outline of his dorsal plates is not necessarily a reliable indication of his posture.
If you really want to get an idea of Godzilla's posture in this movie, just watch the final scene of the trailer. Our eye's are incredibly good at perceiving depth, and as you are watching Godzilla turn amidst the falling debris, you can clearly see that he is standing upright. In other words, G'14 is not a kaiju-equivalent of Quasimodo.
While the angles of perspective are different in the images below, I hope they provide some solace.

MemberMothra LarvaeDec-17-2013 5:22 AMYou bring up another point that I don't think people notice. The view we get of Godzilla isn't just cloudy, it's angled. The skydivers head is tilted when looking at him, which means the image of Godzilla is skewed. If you watch the skydive scene untill the very last moment, you'll see that Godzilla is fairly upright. The Godzilla 2000 reference was actually a very good comparison, but I think that's the extreme.

This video brightens and clears the scene I'm talking about. This guy also slows the framerate. Check it out.

MemberMothra LarvaeDec-23-2013 1:17 AMThe one different between the two images above is something that was touched on before, Godzilla's posture between both are very different. When he stands at the end of the trailer in the dust cloud, his posture more closely resembles the traditional posture of the Heisei series. However, in that shot he's standing still which does in fact matter when taking it into account. When he's walking in the soldier's POV, it's closer to the angled/hunched posture of the 2000 version.
It's fair to say that our new Godzilla is going to spend most of his time upright when standing, but leaning forward when walking. After all, his tremendous bulk won't be able to stand perfectly upright when in motion.

MemberMothra LarvaeDec-26-2013 12:02 PMas far as I know he will stand upright like gojira with the back being lined up with the neck (similar to old descriptions of old iguanadon pics which were used for gojiras body) and not curved like Godzilla 2000
