godzilla should still be created by a godzillasauras coming in contact with nuclear bomb testing but they should make it more recent. Nuke testing by north korea maybe?

As a separate comment, I totally agree that if someone arranges their travel plans, takes time off, buys their ticket and queues up to see SDCC activities that they do deserve something special. That is without question. But, I think you could see SDCC as like going to a football game (not American Football but the must popular sport in the world); you pay to indulge in a passion or hobby and see everything first hand and close up. The solution to SDCC and the movie companies may be a premium stream that generates additional income for SDCC and the movie companies. I for one would have no issue coughing up for that as San Diego is literally the other side of the world.

Two things. Firstly is Legendary et al actually did the SDCC treatment on every continent then there would be little excuse. But, despite the international markets now accounting for more income than USA, this hardly happens. This WILL change slowly as, for example, China over the next 5 years will be far more lucrative than the USA for cinema income. Secondly, I think much of the anger and disappointment isn't even down to no footage being released it that Legendary et al aren't even addressing the disgruntled hardcore fanbase. Marketing and communications go hand in hand, there is no good school in the world that will tell you not talking to your target audience is a good thing. Also don't be fooled simply saying 'Hall H at 1pm, like this' doesn't qualify as competent communications when there is not one single reply to the 1000's of comments that follow. I have worked with large media companies in the past and I certainly can't level any blame at Mr.Edwards or Mr.Cranston but all the aloof execs above them who believe that protecting their IP at the expense at EVERYTHING else is the right tact are certainly part of the problem. It all ties into a far deeper problem that is a debate for another time that addresses issues such as why US media companies don't want Hulu to succeed and why Netflix style services can't get their finger out long enough to release a competent service outside of North America.

unicronicGodzilla 2014 ForumCould a new Megalon be a major enemy in Godzilla 2014?
I'd prefer some new creatures for the Big G to face off against. If there is one thing that Toho were guilty of it was reusing characters particular King Ghidorah, Mothra and MechaG. Keep the G faithful to the Toho vision and let us see some fresh enemies on the first outing and then consider building up to an established enemy the 2nd time around.

FUBAR_Of_Pittsburgh, Do you know about film marketing? I would love to see your credentials. I'm being sincere. Honestly, help me eat my words. What have you been involved in that makes you so powerfully knowledgeable about film marketing? Because it seems to be lacking right now. Lets look at the facts. Man of Steel did not release a trailer to the public, but only Comic Con attendees last year. As I type this it has made over $600 million worldwide. The Dark Knight released a soundbyte trailer to the public in 2007, but more footage to the Comic Con attendees only. It made over $1 Billion worldwide. Clash of the Titans had hardly any presence at all at Comic Con in 2009 and was still a success with almost $500 million worldwide. All of these were Legendary Productions. Did Legendary doom those as well? Meanwhile, Jack the Giant Slayer had a huge presence from Comic Con last year and it underperformed at the box office. But Legendary has had two massive hits this summer with Man of Steel and Hangover III. But all of this is moot. No one is really mad because they're worried about box office receipts. They're mad because they didn't get to see the trailer. But you know what? That's not negative buzz. An example of negative buzz would be if there were negative reactions to trailers or materials. People are just mad. Why? Because they WANT to see footage from this movie. That right there proves they will go see the film. If being angry is "negative press" then the age old adage is true, "The only bad buzz is no buzz." And Godzilla is certainly generating buzz, regardless of how the fanboys on facebook are whining. Legendary never promised a reveal or footage. Edwards and the viral marketing said from day one, "Something big is coming to Comic Con." Not to your computer. Not to your TV screen. Not to you in a personal email. Comic Con. That's it. The only thing that made promises were reporters and fans spreading rumors. We live in an age where teasers come out early, yes, but we also live in an age of instant gratification-- everyone thinks they're entitled to everything. We need to learn that's not the case. We'll see footage from Godzilla soon enough. Patience.

I've heard that they weren't going to use any Toho monster apart from Godzilla and that the monsters are all new. From what I saw in the trailer it did resemble Kamacuras however it's skin was all grey and rough. However this could have been because the scene was a night. However they could have homages. I would like to see new monsters added to the Kaiju list.

First - I love Godzilla's new face best ever ! second - Things I don't like - Godzilla's spikes - to small not enough of them but with this clip it's hard to tell , His body is give and take . I like the 2000's fat godzilla but he can't fight to well . The older skinny long neck godzilla didn't look so well but he fought alot better . Third - things that scare me - 1st All this cover up reminds me of CLOVERFIELD blah ! next - Bryan Cranston HATE this guy ! Yes I hate breaking bad as well !!! ,The inter view I seen with him on Godzilla he was putting the movie down bad real bad the last time I seen an actor do that to a movie he stared in was Marky Mark when he played in MAX PAYNE ! I love ZILLA but Cloverfield meats Bryan Cranston scars me and is Crushing my hopes on this movie :(

I, for one, was happy to see the 'leaked' footage, it's impressive! Although I'm not sure if that wasn't a calculated move on Legendary's part...if it was, it worked. If not, it's a shame that someone had to sneak that out! They shouldn't promise a reveal and not come through. I haven't read enough about what happened, but weren't the masses promised a 'big reveal' Saturday?

And Gareth Edwards and crew aren't solely responsible for the final Godzilla design. They wanted a design approved by Toho. And Toho approved of whatever their final design was. Toho said it was true to Godzillas roots.

To me, this looks completely different than the leaked Godzilla Encounter footage. It's likely just a concept design that wasn't approved.

First of all, I do know how film marketing works, quit assuming things. Second of all, you want to create positive buzz and excitement, not the negative buzz and excitement that Legendary has. They should have stated the big surprise they had planned was for Comic-Con attendees only. Like the Amazing Spider-Man 2 makers did. They openly stated that you had to be in Hall "whatever" at Comic-Con to see the Electro reveal (oh, and even having said that they were nice enough to post a mini Electro teaser online for fans not at Comic-Con). Legendary led us on and gave us NOTHING. They are dooming Godzilla to bomb, just like they did with Pacific Rim. As for the other films Legendary was trying to promote at Comic-Con, EPIC FAIL! Legendary has doomed them as well. Is anyone talking about those films on the Legendary Films Facebook page? NO! Every other post is from people furious about Godzilla. You wait too long to show the public anything, the public will no longer care. We live in a era where teasers sometimes come out two or three years before the movie for crying out loud!

The head looks a lot like the one in the leaked Godzilla Experience footage (search Youtube if you have not seen it). That's a real weird pose though.

No, it's safe to say that is not the final design and i'm glad because it doesn't look great. This in no way resembles the one from the leaked encounter footage which is (many believe) to be Godzilla's final design.

i think it may have been ONE of the best but not THE best, i dont really care if the battles were rushed and i realized that they made this movie in under a YEAR because in the middle of filming Tokyo S.O.S they started filming GFW. it was a great godzilla movie and action flick i think it was a bit of a good finale

I really believe they're taking the video down because it's not the final design. We don't know how things are going with his design, but they could still be working it out. Likely, they had the CGI model from the SDCC 2012 teaser available and used that to put this together. It makes for a fun attraction and still lets guests get a feel for where the new movie is going, but they don't want it all over the net because it's not how he'll look in the movie. That said, I do think there are some things, regardless of design changes or not, to take away from this which are positive for the new movie. The motion of his walk is very much like any guy-in-suit Toho Godzilla, he moves like he's heavy and you feel it in all his movement, which is great, and he could always be faster in combat. His roar also has a classic Godzilla feel. Even if the design is very unique and not your typical Toho Godzilla, they're respecting the character and how to depict him beyond the details of his design. I'm really excited for this movie. One thing I like about the poster and his design is the tail details, his tail almost looked like vertebrae the way the spikes come out of it and the segments are done, which goes along with the idea that his spikes are his bones mutated. I really think the final look is going to be very impressive and I'm hopeful that the film is going to be something really special.

I really don't have a favorite thats not Godzilla, I choose which monsters I like more than others. I find the more powerful and more ferocious looking ones more awsome. For example I perfer Battra to Mothra. But my standards on whats too much, on my top favorites is Gigan 2004 but the chainsaw hands were overdoing it a bit. The monsters that are on my top favorites are the only few monsters able to kick Godzilla's ass. Gigan 2004, Gigan,Destroyah, Mechagodzilla, Kiryu, Keizer Ghidorah, and Spacegodzilla. P.S. I like those monsters put in list together equaly.

MonsterEvolutionistGodzilla ForumWhich monsters do you want to see go head to head?
To Godzilla96: I have waited years for someone to say that, all I have to say is it would probably end with a large blood splatter on the ground and under Godzilla's foot. To DESTROYALLMONSTERS: All I have to say is "WOW", that would possibly one of the most destructive battles in monster history, Keizer Ghidorah being one of the most powerful of the Ghidorah's, and Destroyah the only one of Godzilla's evil enemies that wasn't defeated by Godzilla. To Everyone else: Just to let u ppl know, I DON'T know very many monsters outside of the Godzilla series and the Mothra series, so if I leave anybody out Its only because one, more or all of the monsters Ijust don't know what the Hell they are.

I have a big fascination with 2D fighters, so I would probably have to go with Godzilla: Kaiju Dai Kessen for the Super Famicom system. Sadly, I had to import it as it was never released outside of Japan.

GodzillaAttacksGodzilla ForumYour Favorite Classic Godzilla Movie
The best Godzilla movies for me would be either the original Japanese version or GMK. The original has a unique eerie atmosphere that none of the other G films have been able to match. I think that filming it in black idea was a great idea, because it really enhances the eerie effect of the movie.

GodzillaAttacksGodzilla 2014 ForumSoundtrack Speculation (Composer, Songs, Godzilla Theme)
I just hope they don't try to introduce pop or other mainstream popular music into the movie (I believe they tried to do this will the Zilla movie (Thankfully, there was also a composer score as well.). They definitely should keep using instrumental music (It helps to convey the mood of the movies). If I had a choice, I would choose Michiru Oshima-san, who composed the scores for Godzilla vs Megaguirus, Godzilla x Mechagodzilla, and Godzilla x Mothra x Mechagodzilla: Tokyo SOS. I really like the theme she composed for Godzilla. Especially, in Godzilla x Mechagodzilla, where she had access to the vast Moscow International Symphonic Orchestra (Listen to that soundtrack, versus the other ones she did and you will notice a different in the power within the soundtracks). Akira Ifukube, of course, is the best Godzilla composer but she would definitely be my second favorite.

I did managed to download a copy before it was taken down, when things calm down again, might post it up for those who didn't get to see it. Ultimately, this doesn't hurt the marketing campaign, since it's not a final product entirely, but still it generated a ton of hype and promise for this movie. If anything, this leak was majorly beneficial and probably was a "controlled leak". WB took their time removing the videos which makes me think it was planned. ;) No harm in that though either. Godzilla looks beyond badass, even in this early CGI preview!
