I would like to see Michael Giacchino do it. Listening to his Cloverfield piece "Roar" makes me want him to do it even more!

Looks like he can't anymore :(

Kô Ôtani, he made an excellent score for the Gamera Trilogy, Shadow of the Colossus, and GMK, his style is very Fantasy-Epic, using melodies and harmonies to embrace a large scale and the way he uses the Brass section, Beautiful
Michael Giacchino and Kô Ôtani as a collab would be a great mix, Michael has proven himself with Star Trek and Roar, that he can do Sci-Fi and with a Balance of Kô, some of the best melodies that would crash with our Ear Drums :D

I personally want a dark mood conveyed by the music...any chance that we might be able to hear Akira Ifukube's brilliant Godzilla March/Theme? The theme that has become the signature theme for the Big G

i want the original theme song as long as they keep that do whatever other tracks

Maybe they should re-do Ifukube's soundtrack, it would be a great idea to keep his original Godzilla theme in the credits.

I agree with JGAR and I also think Hans Zimmer should score the film. :)
I mean the main title theme from the 1954 film fits as Godzilla's theme. Listen http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ldHVICaTXrM
Some more of Akira Ifukube's music http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Jm8jq7uA0w
I love the part in the vid above at 2:35 when the violins start. You just feel Godzilla's size and power in the music. :) I love how Ifukube scored the scenes. you feel the energy of that moment in the film as the music is playing to the action.
This is why I think Hans Zimmer should score the film as he does a similar job in his film work. I like the Batman trilogy he scored. The music sound awesome. :) This score of his being a good example http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XshA7k0O4VM

I also agree that Hans Zimmer should score the new Godzilla movie. Especially after this lovely clip I found on youtube today that someone (NOT ME) made of Godzilla destroying Super-Mecha-Godzilla from the 1993 movie Godzilla vs Mecha-Godzilla 2, to a song from The Dark Knight Rises ( I think). Take a look yourselves - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2N7yhsYNwGI

Assuming they have the rights to Ifukube's music, I do believe the classic Godzilla theme has to make an appearance, even if it's not heavily used. Hans Zimmer is definitely one of the best composers working right now, but I'd also be up for Brian Tyler or Michael Giacchino, they've both done new scores in existing franchises and done a great job of weaving the classic themes in while bringing their own fresh stuff to the table and also making their themes feel like they belong in the larger body of work for the franchise. There are plenty of non-Ifukube composers already who lost the feel of Godzilla music with their scores, I just hope the score to this feels like Godzilla and at least pays homage to what came before, but also that it really fits the onscreen events.

I just hope they don't try to introduce pop or other mainstream popular music into the movie (I believe they tried to do this will the Zilla movie (Thankfully, there was also a composer score as well.). They definitely should keep using instrumental music (It helps to convey the mood of the movies). If I had a choice, I would choose Michiru Oshima-san, who composed the scores for Godzilla vs Megaguirus, Godzilla x Mechagodzilla, and Godzilla x Mothra x Mechagodzilla: Tokyo SOS. I really like the theme she composed for Godzilla. Especially, in Godzilla x Mechagodzilla, where she had access to the vast Moscow International Symphonic Orchestra (Listen to that soundtrack, versus the other ones she did and you will notice a different in the power within the soundtracks). Akira Ifukube, of course, is the best Godzilla composer but she would definitely be my second favorite.

I love all of the godzilla scores hopefully they will make the score like in Godzilla 1985 that was my fav score. But yes I do agree that Hans Zimmer would be great.

I hope they use Akira Ifukube's main music theme for Godzilla (the music when he arrives and the godzilla march), that music has always defined the big G and is one of the reasons why I like Godzilla as well. I still have it stuck in my head to this day.

I love the original theme (hi! new guy in town :D). But i also like the theme from the millenium series of movies (gojira vs kiryu). I like the way it conveys size and power.
I'd like a good mix of both, but that's just my two cents.
