AdminSpaceGodzillaJanuary 14, 201317023 Views111 RepliesInformation about the Monster Godzilla will face off against in Godzilla 2014 is still unknown, but going by reactions of attendees of the Comic-Con Godzilla 2014 teaser footage, we can assume that Godzilla will be facing some kind of Centipede-like monster, or some form of giant insect or spider.
Viewers of the Godzilla 2014 teaser footage at Comic-Con 2012 claim to have seen curled insect legs... lots of them as the smoke rises and we pan upwards to see a faint image of Godzilla's head as he lets out a thunderous roar - the iconic Godzilla roar.
More information and images will be released later on - be sure to check back here for those updates!

I wonder if the 'centipede' might be just a minor monster (think Giant Condor) a quick and easy dispatch for Godzilla. Wish they'd release that teaser already! I wonder how long until the first official trailer comes around.
clutchdog8January 29, 2013
I hope that the fights last more than five minutes because that would be a shame imo godzilla has been about fighting the big ass monsters with a little human drama but most importantly it has to be true to the original movies.
KeiyentaiJanuary 29, 2013
They need to focus on Godzilla more this time and less on the human drama...Final Wars is perfect example of this. Good movie considering some of the others but 90% actions is towards the end and over in 10-15mins :|
Some day we will touch the stars.

cuponator3000January 29, 2013
yeah keep it paced and even with more godzilla and less humans! should be a great movie
Not a map, an invitation

ChrisJanuary 29, 2013
I agree guys, nobody watches a Godzilla movie for the human character development. It's not needed and I find detracts from the film. I understand the star needs to shine, but the star is Godzilla, not the person running from him. I really hope the focus is on Godzilla, and any Human scenes should be showing the Military trying to understand Godzilla and revealing new info to us.
DoozybotJanuary 29, 2013
I doubt the centipede is gonna be in the movie, guys. They're still working on the script and they haven't even started filming. That teaser was more of a proof of concept thing than anything else.
gojira89January 29, 2013
The human characters are essential to a Godzilla movie, they are the ones who created him. As long as a good balance and some awesome Godzilla destruction time.

Juggernaut94January 29, 2013
@Doozybot - I'm sure it will end up being in the movie one way or another. The script was nearly finished when they were making the teaser and I also don't see the point of making a creature and just not doing anything with it. I'm not trying to be hostile, just questioning.

ChrisJanuary 29, 2013
@gojira89, I understand the Human characters are essential to a Godzilla film, you're right, there needs to be a balance. The poor acting in the previous Godzilla films detracted from the action I found. A good cast and a "reasonable"amount of Human character development would be good.

Being a diehard Godzilla fan i'm dying to see something new. Whatever new monsters come out i hope the give the big guy a challenge. I would LOVE to see Angilla make an appeareance.

GodzillaSaysJanuary 30, 2013
More giant insects? Like I need more of that in my life. Has anyone seen Final Wars and what I do to them?

Being a die hard Godzilla fan, I can say that I am not all that too much concerned about the type of monster he will face. In all reality something new versus what the traditional Godzilla always fought, would be nice. Something much darker and frightening than your traditional King Ghidorah.

ChrisJanuary 30, 2013
Hey GodzillaSays, glad to have you here! And yes, giant insects, why not!
@JaRoK, I agree, I'm open to something new, but part of me would love to see the return and revolution of some of the classic monsters. Gigan in particular.

GodzillaSaysJanuary 30, 2013
I hope for new monsters too. I'm getting tired of some the faces of the old ones around here as it is. I'm looking at you Jett Jaguar and your stupid grin.

by the way chris nice job with the site. any chance of some screen savers?
NanbaraJanuary 30, 2013
FINAL WARS is a "good movie considering some of the others"?
Uh, no. That movie was a travesty.

KaijuDudeJanuary 30, 2013
I heard there will be at least a couple new monsters in the film facing off against Godzilla. So this centipede creature may be just the appetizer leading to this force of darkness and destruction that Godzilla will meet.
SKREEE-ONK!

ScarfoJanuary 30, 2013
What I do know, is ya'll are in for a REAL treat, when they finally release the Godzilla trailer, that was shown at San Diego Comic Con 2012. It was breath-taking!

ChrisJanuary 30, 2013
@monster king 79, Thanks very much! Yes, we are working on some attractive wallpapers. We will have a lotmore to work with after the first trailer hits the web, and we get a nice set of HD screen caps up in the Gallery.
@Nanbara, Final Wars was definitely not the best Godzilla film out there, but I did like how Toho had the true Godzilla put the American ZIlla to rest.
@Scarfo, Absolutely! We're hoping Legendary will soon release it to the public.
monster king 79January 30, 2013
hey
here's an idea how about a monster that starts out as a human being? then you can show how it afects both the public and the person's family
game_paradiseJanuary 30, 2013
everybody talks about comic con but i want to see the trailer to and because i am from europe i couldnt go to comic con:( is there a video somewhere poste i would like to see it and new monsters would be good though some of the old ones would be good to but than monsters who only appeared once or twice like gigan megalon and rodan maybe there are more but not much movies of godzilla are available here i hate my own country for that

GodzillaSaysJanuary 31, 2013
Less humans....more monsters.

AlexanderGreatFebruary 01, 2013
I hope that its one of the original monsters like gigan or destroyah or one of those bad monsters

godzilla96February 02, 2013
They probably wont put in any of the original monsters from other Godzilla movies because they would have to pay Toho money for each one
G96

ChrisFebruary 03, 2013
True, but they have huge marquee value. If they scored the right to use say, Gigan, can you imagine the fan reaction? It would be huge. Plus, Toho is handling the production of the film in Japan, so they're already going to make a lot of money off of it.

godzilla96February 03, 2013
i think what they will do is have new monsters in this movie and they will have older monsters in other movies they make

InsaneJayFebruary 07, 2013
If they are going to have multiple monsters in this movie, as we've been told, why not have a new monster AND an old school monster? Would be a good way to make the fans happy while looking to the future also. If they were to add an older monster from the already existing roster, I would imagine it would be one of the staples of the series, i.e. Mothra, Anguirus, Rodan or Ghidorah. I know we've seen them a million times before, would be nice to see them get a new makeover though. As far as a new monster, I'd love to see what they can cook up next. There are alot of creative minds out there, and I'm sure there are still ways they can surprise and amaze us. Hopefully it will be more memorable than a Centipede.
And where is this trailer already?!?!? we've waited long enough!
WolfpredFebruary 11, 2013
What I would love to see from these two new monsters are slight homages to previous foes. Such as characteristics and slight physical resemblances.
Such as a monster that moves on all four legs with a long snout and horned nose; Anguirus.
Or perhaps a winged monster with no arms and two tails; homage to Ghidorah.

Im with you guys somthing new would be good but what would you guys want as a new enermy
adslqmki@tpg.com.auFebruary 17, 2013
Also whats more important seeing Godzilla in action/ human development or both
Gojira57March 22, 2013
I would love to see the story behind the new monsters. Plus, maybe they can make another movie where they add Gryphon, an unmade monster that was supposed to appear, or maybe even add some old favorites like King Ghidorah and Mothra, perhaps even Biollante, who has yet to make a second major appearence in a movie.
Edit: Yes, i am a biollante and mothra fan, they are the best monsters that godzilla ever faced in my opinion
Godillafs1998March 23, 2013
I hope theres allot of fighting and buildings being destroyed and a Awesome Radiation beam From Godzilla and I how after this movie theyll keep making more.
Erik CornellMarch 24, 2013
Some thoughts I've had for a while.
I could see the centipede as a "warm up" for Godzilla. Think Baragon in GMK.
Judging from one of the set photos of the Japanese airport having an earthquake reported on a television screen, one of the monsters may be a burrower.
Chris Mirjahangir, the guy who first revealed that LP was in talks with Toho about doing a Godzilla reboot, made a joking statement somewhere on Toho Kingdom that the second enemy monster may be a salamander. Just something to take with a grain of salt.

GodzillaMarch 27, 2013
Well if this movie is going to really be made i don't think they should use suits... The suits where good for the 50's and 60's but now we have all this better technology and it would have a better chance at success if they use computer graphic images. As for the monster i have an idea for a four armed behemoth, that can shoot fireballs and is twice Godzilla's size. Godzilla is going to win though.
Michael HenningMarch 28, 2013
Any idea's when we will see a teaser trailer? I thought we would have a teaser this spring?

ChrisMarch 28, 2013
Not sure when the trailer will debut. Filming has only been going on for a week and a bit now. It's possible we could see one this summer. Maybe a teaser here and there before then, but no full length trailers I would imagine.
Godzilla4Life03March 30, 2013
A new monster would be great. I agree that they need to go away from insects unless its like a scorpion or maybe a centipede. I thought that was a cool idea posted earlier. If I had to choose a traditional monster then Ghidorah would have to be the top choice. He is the most menacing foe Godzilla has imo, but a monster I'd like to see more of is Biollante. Would love to see this monster used more for sure.
Michael HenningMarch 31, 2013
Regarding my last comment. They had a teaser at the comic-con for godzilla? How was that made when the movie was not even in production/filming yet?

DaikaijuvieApril 06, 2013
In my opinion the monster needs to have a certain quality about it, hopefully in a suit not all computer animation, this can really hurt the movie if it is not in the same spirit as the other monsters from the past. I am excited yet skeptical about the new movie, atleast we get a new godzilla and hopefully a sequel or even a spinoff cartoon, maybe this can bring Godzilla back for us, or maybe it can kill it like they almost did in the 90s.
