After Monarch: Legacy of Monsters concludes its 10 episode run of season 2, Apple TV and Legendary will be wasting no time in cooking up more Monsterverse for us! Red Monarch – the Lee Shaw prequel spin-off series is scheduled to begin filming this July in Prague and the United Kingdom! Wyatt Russell will reprise his role once again as a younger Lee Shaw as he traverses behind enemy lines in an attempt to stop Russian forces from unleashing a new Titan on America. The series will not be directly connected to Monarch: Legacy of Monsters but will exist within the same timeline.

When does Red Monarch take place?
According to the Monsterverse timeline, Red Monarch will take place on or around September 10th, 1984. This would place the events of Red Monarch 30 years after the events of Operation Castle Bravo and Godzilla's first emergence and roughly 11 years after the events of Skull Island. This date was pulled from a subtle easter egg in Monarch: Legacy of Monsters S2, which detailed a number of important Monarch-related dates and events. As new plot details become available, specific time periods and dates may change.

When does Red Monarch release?
A release date has yet to be announced at the time of writing this article, however Apple TV will likely tease or announced a date or time frame at the end of Legacy of Monsters Season 2. Given filming begins this summer, we expect a mid-late 2027 release date window.
