Legendary and Apple TV are wasting no time to churn out new Monsterverse content! Monarch: Legacy of Monsters Season 2 is about to launch on Apple TV tomorrow and production on the spin-off series is reportedly gearing up! Separate to Legacy of Monsters, but acting as a prequel spin-off series set in the 1980s, the currently untitled Monarch series will focus primarily on a young Shaw (Wyatt Russell) as he embarks on a secret mission within enemy territory to stop the Soviets from unleashing a massive, new Titan on the United States. We first unveiled the plot details for the Monarch spin-off series back in December, 2025 but more recently our friend K-D-M has alerted us that filming will begin soon:
The first MONARCH spinoff follows Lee Shaw, who in 1984 went on a secret mission behind enemy lines to stop the Soviets from unleashing a horrific new Titan big enough to destroy the U.S. and turn the tide of the Cold War.
This project is focusing on Shaw.
Filming starts soon.
A title for the new series remains unknown, but we suspect it will contain the same Monarch prefix, something like Monarch: Cold War or similar. As new details arise, we'll let you know!
Monarch: Legacy of Monsters Season 2 is now streaming on Apple TV as of February 27th, 2026 and will span 10 episodes ending May 1st, 2026. Season two picks up with the fate of Monarch — and the world — hanging in the balance. The dramatic saga reveals buried secrets that reunite our heroes (and villains) on Kong’s Skull Island, and a new, mysterious village where a mythical Titan rises from the sea. The ripple effects of the past make waves in the present day, blurring the bonds between family, friend and foe — all with the threat of a titan event on the horizon!
