Japanese man got a prison sentence for spoiling Godzilla Minus One

Japan does not mess around when it comes to copyright law! A Japanese man was found guilty of copyright infringement after Toho discovered he published spoiler descriptions of Godzilla Minus One on his website. The accused earned over $200,000 in ad revenue by posting numerous articles containing spoilers for a number of titles, not just Godzilla Minus One.
According to reports, the man was given a suspended prison sentence and slapped with a $6,300 fine as a result! A small drop in a bucket of that kind of ad revenue – but still.
Apparently the articles were not merely reports or opinion pieces, but rather complete breakdown and exploitations of key plot details.
Was the consequence justified?
