Holy crap! The Japanese trailer has extra footage of Watanabe and a cut-scene from the Comic-Con trailer! Is this on YouTube yet?
I thought this might be helpful in the trailer discussion. This was just sent to me.
My favorite part is seeing Ken Watanabe FUTURE SERIZAWA i hope they make Juliet Binoches charector and him fall in love and have Cranstons carector have a love triangle like the Originol Godzilla 1954
Just adding to my last post. The idea of him having the ability to be a quadruped only comes to thought because in that scene, leaning over he had a slight Stegosaurus look to him. After all, they had those plates on their backs for Thermoregulation.
I'm not suggesting in anyway he is one, is related to one etc., just it struck me how he looked like one leaning over like that

Just seen this if its already been posted I apologize. Note the subtle changes and some not so subtle.
Well its college finals week for me, but as a die hard Godzilla fan, I ended up going to my class an hour and 40 minutes late because I couldn't stop watching that awe inspiring, and "inner giddy child" provoking trailer that manifested from the magical mind of Gareth. Thank you for bringing back my favorite childhood icon, and for shitting on that 1998 giant raptor movie that was a huge embarrassment, with the trailer alone.
The scene where you see Godzilla through the goggles, amid all the smoke etc., does it look as if Godzilla could go from being bipedal to a quadruped? Just the way he is leaning over in an extreme way makes me ponder that question.
This is a bit far fetched, but could one of these possibly "man-made" creatures wind-up actually turning into Godzilla?
Hail the King's return
I went back to the trailer and looked at it frame by frame. What I don't get is the 3rd frame.. That does not look like a bird to me. I copied 4 frames 2 leading up to the 3rd then the 4th showing whatever it is pulling away. The face looks rounded to me...
I could be wrong.. Hope these upload correct. :)

Keep in mind that's a very simplified (and angular!) sketch, nothing more than an attempt to convey the orientation of the jaws in this scene. Personally, I wouldn't pay any mind to their size relative to the rest of the head or the curvature at each jaw's tip (I would also ignore the sad excuse for an "eye" that I drew).
TRUE AMERICAN GODZILLA: I was merely refering to godzilla vs other, sometimes bigger monsters. as far as a bigger, more armored godzilla being more dangerous than any so far, i totally agree. btw, i really did like your point about the armor, just look at what a normal sized crocodile can withstand.
Going by your "history", I'm going to bet that you're 100% accurate in your "assumptions". hahaha Thanks for adding a lot more detail to this "MUTO Mystery". The sketch helps too. I figured it would be somewhat bird-like with it's face.
I'm really, REALLY curious to see what these things originated from. The anticipation for more info is killing me.
For those of you having trouble seeing the Mutos in the train scene, here is another screen shot.
This particular one has pale grey skin, which is mottled with specs of brown. From what I can guess, this is a head biting into the train that then pulls upwards out of the frame. This mutos seem to have a head that is similar to those depicted in the early "eye-witness" sketches, and its mouth opens with a set of several triangular jaws. It even looks like there is a dark green tongue between the two supposed jaws shown in this particular frame.
Imagine both the upper and lower halves of a bird's beak being split down the middle, leaving four pointed beaks that converge at a point when closed (and fan out when opened).
Watch the train scene carefully, and I'm certain you'll see what I'm talking about. The mouth opens up towards the audience (hence the flesh-coloured mouth membrane in Chris' screenshot).
I thinck that the main theme should be loosly based around the origional music, particularly the music from godzillas main attack. as for the actual theme, I agree, it should be in the credits.
pherhaps, personally i always thought the best explination for the younger godzilla came from the heisi series, he was basically a normal animal but he gets mutated by constant exposure to godzilla, kinda like the giant sea louse. btw, didn't mean to sound hostile earlier.
It Looks Awesome ! Can't Wait To See It In Cinema .
I really do agree with some of the comments about how it seems less "mechanical." I love the new roar, it has the familiarity that we love while making it's own impact. I personally love the bellowing towards the end when it drops in pitch. On another thread, where people are estimating Goji's height they compared him to that building in the trailer, so he'd be about 700 feet tall. So the bellowing helps me to imagine a titan and how their body would create this roar. I love how in the trailer even debris that must way in the tons is pushed back by the sound waves of his roar!
This height is unfathomable for a living thing, at least in film ahaha. I really hope the official height is close to this!
Sorry, meant to say "Godzilla is a skyscraper SIZED.."
Something a lot of people aren't considering is the fact that this Godzilla is the largest one yet. He's even bigger than the Heisei Goji. This movie takes place primarily in San Francisco, and there aren't a ton of buildings tall enough to fall on him. Also, Godzilla is a skyscraper SOLID mass of muscle, scales, bones, fat, etc. Even the world's tallest skyscraper would feel like a bunch of pillows to Godzilla and I'm sure the military is smart enough to know that glass, concrete, and steel are nothing to him. Hell, to come to that conclusion all you have to do is witness him stomping through the city. What could have happened is that they launched a nuke while Godzilla was down, maybe being knocked over during a brawl with another kaiju perhaps? The blast from the bomb could have killed the other kaiju (maybe the one from the leaked trailer, since he looks like he was burned. Then again that could be because of Goji's atomic breath) and it could have burried Godzilla in rubble. Then after, you know...the whole snapping his head to the side and roaring and stuff.
Truth GodzillaHimself. He did find the eggs. Still throughout the diferent storylines of godzilla, it changes, or at least its never officially stated. Some call Godzilla it. Everyone did it different. As far as i know, 2014 is Him.
This isn't only my opinion, but those of others as well I've noticed, but the insect-monsters (referred to as mutos just to make it easy) could be modern retelling of Destroyah/Destroyer. M.U.T.O., the group, could be a shadow group that has been monitoring strange things related to kaiju, as the mutoresearch.net site hints at (for example, the Turkmenistan fire hiding a membrane.) They could have come across a "living fossil" of sorts, a creature thought to be extinct but still being alive. Except, it's actually a group of eggs. Maybe they got out of control and formed colonies all over the planet.
It looks somewhat like the dust swirls that follow a small nuclear detonation, honestly.
Seriously?!watch the movies, the younger godzilla in the showa and heisi series as well as final wars were adopted, godzilla found the eggs, godzilla is by no means a hermaphrodite.
Who what do you mean your going too die? and why you say spare me? your one mess up dude
I'll now probably die a horrific, slow death because I called Godzilla a Hermaphrodite. SPARE ME!!
I am wondering if many are assuming Godzilla is the complete "bad guy" in all this. When I look at the footage of the wrecked train (scattered off the tracks) I don't see any footprints that would be from Godzilla tearing the train apart.
It is possible to pay homage to the "badass nature" of Godzilla - and not have Godzilla destroy everyone and everything in sight. Maybe it's not Godzilla the Nuclear Bomb is being aimed at? Could it be the nuclear bomb is aimed at a MUTOS and the radiation from that blast is what brings Godzilla?
I think this is gonna be interesting either way.
Well some Godzilla movies, to a name a few(Godzilla vs. Destroyah, Final Wars) suggest Godzilla is Female because of a younger Godzilla of the same species(Godzilla Jr., Milla) 98 Godzilla coined the idea that Godzilla is Asexual, or having the ability to reproduce without a partner or sex. So technically, Godzilla is a Male, but has the Female parts. A Hermaphrodite, if you will.
You're asking to compare a Godzilla movie with another movie on a Godzilla forum? Yes, these results won't be skewed.
Godzilla looks better imo, but that's because I'm a bigger fan, if you're asking which will do better it will be Spiderman hands down
Watch the train scene VERY CAREFULLYand while your doing it think about that being mouth parts and you can see the head.
This could also very well be the end of the movie, with the audience thinking Godzilla is dead and then the King rises from the ashes of a fallen city and gives one final might roar before the credits come up.
@GOJIRAFANG: Kiezer Ghidorah was only 120 to 140 meters (not 900). Every Godzilla/Gojira is extremely strong physically. So a 100 Meter Gojira wouldn't be able to match a newer version of Godzilla that dwarfs the Final Wars Gojira in a strength battle.
@"GODZILLA_HIMSELF": Just being this massive, estimated, would already make it more difficult to stop than Japanese Gojira. Our Godzilla seems to have armor skin, so this would really add to its "unstoppable" aspect.
as cool as a new mechagodzilla would be, it would be very hard to put it into a serious movie. of course no one can completely rule out the possability of a mecha godzilla, for example, his seemingly pointless apearance could be explained as an attempt to strike fear into most monsters and confuse godzilla. but in the end, a mechagodzilla is highly unlikely.
as far as size not mattering when it comes to godzilla, i agree, but well have to wait and see how unstoppable this new Godzilla will really be, i'm hoping for the strongest one yet.
gfw godzilla will still beat godzilla 2014 hell he beat kaiser ghidorah he's what 900 feet tall
In what I believe is the 11th frame, it almost appears as if one of the soldiers is about to land on Godzilla's head. Or is that just a flare? In the 24th frame, I wonder if the woman's frightened reaction is in response to one of the mutos on the loose trying to break into whatever facility their in. I do see a bunch of guys in lab coats which could mean that their scientists working in the MUTO facility.
I don't think they hit him with a building, to me it seems godzilla's spike hit something.
I agree, they probably try to topple a building on him, but I also think they try to take him out with a (if not numerous) bomb(s). If they detonate the bomb from ground level, or inside the base od a building - it's possible the debris would fly up, landing on Godzilla. But I agree, the idea of them dropping (a huge) building on him, looks very likely.
yea i get your point
You see my point though, right?
