MemberMothra LarvaeDec-11-2013 8:18 PMSo I am constanly reading that people want this or that it's possible. I just want to hear your opinions as well as giving mine(My opinion means nothing so do not take it harsh, I am biased). Personally, I HATE that idea. I would not like to see that happen(Not saying it can't) BUT this Godzilla is taking a serious(obviously) and realistic approach to giant Monsters. Pacific Rim(Though I loved it) was like a saturday morning cartoon. Yes it was fun, corny and had great affects, but thats it. It was a visual movie. This Godzilla is going for a compeling story that will leave lasting impressions(At least thats what Gareth wants). Its a disaster movie surrounding monsters while wanting a good plot and characters. It'd be like taking Batman from The Dark Night and mashing him in the same story with Superman from Man Of Steel. Two completely different universes. Anyway, that is my unfair opinion. Lol So would you guys want to see such a crossover? Honest question, and no, I will not hate on any comments. I just want to connect to you all.

GODZILLA HIMSELF
MemberMothra LarvaeDec-11-2013 8:30 PMit would fit with gareth's destroy all monsters sequal idea, maybe after the aliens lost their facility were they were cloning monsters, they travel to Godzillas universe to take advantage of the monsters already there and pherhaps start colonig them. now would jaegers be involved? maybe, maybe not. im not sure how jaegers could come to Godzillas universe anyway.

MemberMothra LarvaeDec-11-2013 9:41 PMI wouldn't be for a crossover either. For the exact reasons you stated. Also just from a fan perspective I wouldn't care for it. I did see Pacific Rim but it has a tone I would not want Edwards' take on Godzilla to get tangled with. Pacific Rim had great effects but that's about it. With the exception of one or two scenes PR just wasn't my cup of tea. What Edwards and Legendary appear to be doing with Godzilla are much more up my alley. Just my opinion.

MemberMothra LarvaeDec-11-2013 10:33 PMI think they should do it because of the numerous fans. If this crossover, they better bring Megalon as one of the pacific rim creatures since he represents seatopia.

MemberMothra LarvaeDec-11-2013 10:46 PMI honestly don't know how to respond to this. I am both totally for, as well as against the idea. Yes, because I absolutely enjoyed Pacific Rim and a huge Goji fan no doubt about it. Yet, no because I just don't know how the writers would pull off such a plot. They would have to pick sides as to whether to have the Jaegers/humans win, or Godzilla. I guess I just have to see how Gareth Edwards pulls off this movie. See what the writers have done in this movie. If it turns out to be pretty good, I'll reconsider my thoughts on this crossover idea.

MemberMothra LarvaeDec-11-2013 11:47 PMHum... I've been thinking about this very question since watching Pacific Rim.
I'm torn. I feel like this would be a match up that one side would have to win - and one side would have to lose. Why? Because both Godzilla and the Jaegers are tough in their own right each with their own strength and of course their own weaknesses but I am sure fans of each movie "creation" would want their side to win (of course). I don't think fans of either side would be happy with a draw which would set up both franchises for trouble and I want to see both continue here in the USA.
I have no doubt the match would make for one spectacular movie though!! I may be for it, if it was clear from the get go this was a team up -- somehow. Both on the same side in the fight to save the world. That would be epic too.
Well, that was as clear as mud......

MemberMothra LarvaeDec-12-2013 3:29 AMIts hard to say. How would they implement Godzilla into the Pacific Rim universe? That would require alot of explaining. Also, it would mean two Godzilla franchizes going at the same time. We cant bring the existing universes togheter, that would be EVEN MORE COMPLICATED.
But if we look past the fact that there is already one Godzilla series going on, the millenium series (I consider G2014 a part of this), it could work;
Godzilla could awaken from somewhere under the breach, not in the breach, but buried underground. The explosions and so could awaken him, and he would then start his reign of terror. So it could work, but it would still have a ton of flaws, and get a lot of bashing.

MemberMothra LarvaeDec-12-2013 12:36 PM@KEVIN_C_VANG - Legendary and Edwards have both made it abundantly clear that there will be NO Toho monsters appearing in this new franchise. This is America's Godzilla, not Japan's. Toho is helping produce it and make sure it's Godzilla, but otherwise this is not their movie nor their franchise. Megalon, like all toho Kaiju outside of Godzilla himself, do not belong in this franchise even if there is a Pacific Rim crossover which I am certain won't happen.
For the same reasons stated by the author of this thread, I do not believe there should be a crossover. Godzilla is his own creature with his own sense of mystery and mythology. Throwing in Jaegers and alien Kaiju from beneath the sea would just be contrived and irresponsible on the part of Legendary. Pacific Rim did decently well for a summer blockbuster, but it was not really anything more than a visually pleasing brawl or bar fight.
Godzilla is going to be an epic new franchise with its own universe and its own vibe. Pacific Rim crossing over with it would ruin that vibe.

MemberMothra LarvaeDec-12-2013 5:35 PM@KYERO. I completely agree with all that you said. Just like most people, I would love to see a classic Godzilla enemy. However, this is Americas Godzilla. I am more into seeing new great monsters. Which Im sure Gareth and everyone involved will do.

MemberMothra LarvaeDec-13-2013 12:03 AMI agree, also; Pacific Rim was more of a video game on the big screen, with alot of over-the-top vibe. Godzilla will be the other end of the spectrum: dark, grim, and (from what I've read), no happy ending. It would be awkward to put these two together without the American Godzilla losing the tone that will be set in the new movie...

MemberMothra LarvaeDec-13-2013 2:42 AMI thikn for them to cross over either pacific rim has got to be BEEFED UP and GODZILLA has to be lowered in degree for them to actually match up.
