After watching the trailer a dozen times and counting, reading the posts it seems nobody noticed the tiny flare that is falling past Godzilla's head. It appears close to his head but it is actually much farther away. I thought to myself, they haven't opened their parachutes yet and they been falling for a while and have reached terminal velocity. The view from one of the troopers shows his decent past the tower that is in front of Godzilla's main body and still no chutes open. That tells me that Godzilla's height is well over 800 ft considering the speed and distance that the troopers are falling. I say he is at least 1000 ft. In the still at first glance I thought there was flare that landed on Godzilla's head but the teaser shows one of the troopers falling past him. Any question about how tall he is should be answered by figuring this out. Anybody out there can calculate height , speed and distance to get an estimate of Godzilla's new height? Btw he is not exactly standing upright either. Looks like he is recovering from a bomb blast that hit him.

That brings me to this also. I don't believe he was nuked. He may have had a modern version of the TALL BOY bomb used in WW2 against the battleship Tirptiz in WW2 but a far more powerful version. You wouldn' send in your troops in a zone that was just nuked.

I like this discussion, but 1000 ft? Take a look at the Twin Towers:

They are 1,328 ft tall, which would mean he would be 85% of the height of the Twin Towers! That would be Titan Size! That would be absoulutely awesome, but I am a bit skeptical about it. I posted comment about something like this in another discussion, that he would be, from the look of the trailer, 750-850 ft tall. It would be cool if he was 1000 ft. I hope you are right about size though. Godzilla + Titan size = More Destruction and awesome!

Honestly, in the trailer, Godzilla looks MUCH more massive than I thought he was gonna be. Gareth said that this Godzilla will be the tallest one yet. I figure he would be about 400ft..but he looks much bigger than that. We will not know for sure until later in time. However, I am loving the size! That scene with the paratroopers free-falling and getting a tease at Godzilla was actualy haunting. Which is a great thing!

I've done (some) of the math and at 1:12 you see a buildingf wich is 700+ feet tall and messing with number & such (just trust me on this) i came up with this graph

I agree that Godzilla should be 1000 feet but I don't think so because Gareth already said he didn't want him too big because he didn't want him to be to noticeable but it Godzilla king of the monster! destroying everything in his path.

I was watching the trailer again andI believe that building is the 555 California Street building which stands at 779 ft. tall.  It almost appears as if Godzilla's head is approaching a level height of that building.  As a member stated it somewhat looked like he was getting back up from recovering froma bombing.

Maybe this pic and reference on wikipedia I found will help everyone just get a good look and the sheer size that Godzilla is.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_tallest_buildings_in_San_Francisco

Transamerica pyramid on the left, 345 California Center in the middle and 555 California Street on the right.

Also, here is another link in the forum to a discussion on his height with some good info.

@STOKAMOTO - You pretty much killed your own argument with the phrase "It appears close to his head but it is actually much farther away." That fact alone means that the soldiers are still going to see him no matter how far they fall. Even if Godzilla was only 200 feet tall, they would see him for a good long time before opening their chutes because their field of vision is so extensive at range as opposed to up close.

Also, if you didn't know already, HALO Jump means High Altitude Low Opening. Their chutes are deployed at low altitude which can be anything below 1000 feet easily because it's meant for stealthy infiltration. The flares on their feet serve to help them keep track of one another since there is no need to be stealthy around a Kaiju.

Also, the skyscraper they're passing in the final moments of that section of the trailer is unknown in height, but is clearly much taller than Godzilla himself.

You have blown things out of proportion with misidentification and a lack of understanding about proper physics and scale.

If you pause the trailer when the last real lightning flash occurs and lights up the surrounding area, Godzilla is walking towards a building that appears no higher than about 30-35 stories. He's clearly larger than it, but by no more than about 60-80 feet. If anything Godzilla is in the mid to late 400 foot range in and around 440-480 feet.

There is no way, even taking into account that he's the "tallest Godzilla to date" that he'll ever hit 1000 feet. Edwards is a fan and he's enthusiastic about Godzilla, but this movie is going for realism which means that Godzilla's size has to be massive, but modest. Breaking 500 feet would be pushing it, let alone 1000.

1000 feet is not going to happen. That much, I can guarantee you.

the marvel comics godzilla was 150 meters, if what gareth says is true, then Godzilla will have to be bigger than that, maybe pushing 600 feet. the tallest that i would expect him to be would be 185 meters, a good 20% taller than marvels godzilla.

king of the monsters
