Will Godzilla have dominant role in this film?

With the release of the trailer, I've seen a lot of people complaining and saying the film wont be good. Mainly because of the role of the military being seen a lot and the idea that it will end up like the '98 version with the characters taking up most of the screen.

Now I know you cant please everyone, but it is a valid point and as a person who is extremely excited for this movie, it makes me wonder how Edward's will pull this off. Now don't get me wrong, I am pretty confident in Edward's with this all and the fact that a lot of the people working on it appear to be fans of G. So far everything is looking good, its just the possibility of a '98 repeat wont leave my mind.

So what is everyone else thinking? Should we be worried about a backseat Godzilla movie or is this going to be the next Godzilla classic?

I actually don't mind it too much. To me, it actually seems like Edwards is focusing more towards how the original Goji was made; homing in on the symbol of mankind's destruction. Sure, the original '54 movie aimed towards destruction of the Atom bomb drops and Hydrogen bomb tests in the Pacific, but maybe this Godzilla can be used for (I hate to use this for an example) the destruction of the environment. That's most likely not the case for this film, and I bet I'm wrong on that. It's just a thought though.

Knowing Edwards' quality of using symbols in film, especially in MONSTERS, I have no doubt that he'll do an excellent job using Godzilla as metaphor in any cetain type of way.

My point is to look at this movie from more of a symbolic standpoint, rather than an action-adventure one. That might be the problem here; people are hoping for a classic monster-on-monster fighting flick, rather than realizing what the original was supposed to be about.
