Where do you surmise all this from, "Just saw my favorite movie of next year."? How do you know he didn't see the complete movie? It's hilarious how you simply run off on some tangent making crap up as you go along. Probably did this, probably did that. What I read is, "Just saw my favorite movie of next year." not, "Just saw my favorite 'workprint version' movie of next year" or, "Just saw my favorite "early cut" movie of next year."

Durp004Godzilla 2014 ForumWill the 2014 Godzilla be defeated like its 1954 counterpart?
I don't believe so. The only times Godzilla is really beaten is when he's alone in movies, when there's another monster he may be driven away but he's never outright killed, or at least explicitly said so. If they do beat him I don't think it would be a definite things like in Gojira or Godzilla vs. Destroyah, but more ambiguous with there being more of a hint to him surviving. Since they're going for a dark theme I think it would be much better if they drove him away but knew full well he was alive and could attack again at any notice and left pondering why they had created such an unstoppable force and what was gained from it.

@ KingOfZombies If Godzilla was alive in the post-credit scene, would the protagonists know about it? Good question. On one hand I would say no. However, the idea of them knowing has a certain appeal. Say they are celebrating or something, then all of a sudden one of the Navy Subs is calling for help... until they are cut off by an ominous roar.

Godzilla cannot die, i think they will "kill" him in the movie, but we will see him alive in a post-credits scene, or something like that. The real question is: Will the protagonists know that he still alive? or only us, the public?

He may or may not be killed; we do not know. But if he does get killed, it will probably be more realistic than an oxygen destroyer

Cool bit of news! This is very exciting to hear. While we may not get a lot of cool effect shots, we may get some already made ones from the Comic Con trailers. Now some simpler sounds/effects could be added.

The answer is: the same as always. Godzilla is always "killed" or everyone believes he's been killed, but then he keeps coming back. The point of the original film was that humankind created another force of nature experimenting with things like the atom bomb and the creation is beyond the creators ability to control (kill). In the original they did kill Godzilla, but the tone was that a Pandora's box had opened and there was no guarantee that something else wouldn't replace him. They'll "kill" him off but the door will definitely be left open for another film...

That is really cool art. I will be honest. I never got into Gamera. It was not because I found him dumb, but it is hard to find his films here in the states. I think that they have the films on YouTube though. Still, this is fantastic artwork. I love how you added a darker tone to a classic Gamera monster.

It is interesting to ponder, but I highly doubt that they would kill Godzilla in this film. Remember that this is considered a reboot of the classic Japanese Godzilla. If they were going to kill off Godzilla, why make it a reboot? If Godzilla dies, it should be a standalone remake.

GreenZilla93Godzilla 2014 ForumHow would you want Godzilla (2014) to start?
I guess it will either start with the "everything is nice and quite" route, to contrast the coming destruction, or they will start with something ominous, like a ship being attacked or something, but not show Godzilla yet, and then they would do the "nice and quite" thing. Either way, we're probably getting the "nice and quite" routine in the begining

I would like to see it like the PR opening, but maybe about the first Nuclear Arms race and all the damage it caused. This next part is wishful thinking, but if this movie is linked to the first, maybe seeing the first Godzilla attack Tokyo in 1954, then arrive at present day when the "seismic activity" occurs.

I love Spacegodzilla, personally. I think he's extremely underrated, and he probably has some of the best attributes of any Godzilla adversary and his ear-splitting roar just makes it all complete.

Durp004Godzilla 2014 ForumShould Gigan return in the new Legendary Godzilla Series?
IMO no. Gigan is right in the mid ground for me. He's not 1 of the extremely popular enemies like ghidorah or mothra, that even though I'm 100% against it, will probably be brought into the new series before any other toho monsters. But he's also not one of the obscure enemies who need to be given another chance. He's somewhere between the 2 as just an average enemy. Granted this is my opinion only but Gigan is not the best choice for a monster that needs to come back when compared to the vast amount of other choices.

A Godzilla takes at least a few hundred years of natural nuclear radiation to reconstruct its body to be Kaiju ready after that same radiation kills it. Modern nuclear weapons speed up the process to just a few decades. A giant Godzilla of which we will see the likes of in the upcoming movie was likely dormant for thousands of years, and has had at least that amount of time to have been reconstructed into its current form, perhaps even millions of years. That's why we see only a few key examples of the species. If anything, they're quite an odd case, having the most recorded specimens of any other Kaiju-based species.

G-RaaGodzilla 2014 Forumgive your own muto backstory
I think the mutos should be linked to the Japanese nuclear power plant leaks due to the earthquakes and tsunamis, but some of them were collected for study to see how various forms of radiation were affecting living organism, and that some small government cell (U.S., Japanese, or some other country) tried to make them into bio-weapons but the experiments failed and caused their release.
