True American Godzilla
MemberMothra LarvaeNov-13-2013 4:59 PMI was looking back to Edwards statements of...
1: "The way I tried to view it was to imagine Godzilla was a real creature and someone from Toho saw him in the 1950s and ran back to the studio to make a movie about the creature and was trying their best to remember it and draw it. And in our film you get to see him for real."
2: Legendary announced it would make the new film closer in style to the original 1954 film
So this film and our American Godzilla will be in the style of the 50's Japanese version. Now in the 1954 film Gojira was beaten by an experimental (fictional) bomb.
Question: Will our American Godzilla be defeated in 2014?
This is a tricky one to answer. For one thing, the 50's version never had any other monster besides Gojira. Our American Godzilla will battle two other monster types in addition to the military. This statement makes me lean to Godzilla surviving.
However, a leaked Call Sheet indicates a "bomb" (no word on what the bomb is) knocks Nautilus (probably Godzilla, as the movie was going to be named Nautilus at one point) down to the ground. To quote..
"EXT SF on the way to the Wharf. Behind Ford as he turns & sees a fallen Nautilus."

Now this statement could mean one of two things.
1: Godzilla was beaten by the 'bomb'.
2: The bomb knocked him out, but didn't really kill him.
If Godzilla were dead, to add room for a sequel, the camera would dive into the deep sea and show another Godzilla was waking up or something.
What do you folks think? I can see this question going either way so I'm not positive (guess that means I will be surprised).
