hey this is my first discussion so be free to call out any mistakes i made thanks.this discussion is on how i think the mutos came to be. i think that a small island has a large population of spider ant. the area is contaminated by radiation after it has leaked from a nuclear power plant that was destroyed by the earthquake/tsunami in japan that happened awhile back and they soon mutate.there growth accelerates (some grow extra limbs witch explains the 8 legged ones)and they grow wings and fly over to the main land. when they get there most quickly lose there wings though some keep there wings. so thats my explanation whats yours please comment:)

Overall I like your idea for the Muto backstory. Glad to see people like my Spider Ant-to-Muto theory :). However, I would modify one aspect of it. Let's use the Japan nuclear power plant that started leaking radiation (due to the massive earthquake and tsunami a few years back). As it spread, cue the habitat of the Spider Ants. They got mutated and changed into the Mutos over a few years. Naturally they need a bigger home, thus they find San Francisco.

I think your backstory is kinda wrong. Ithink MUTO is actually many diffrent kinds of bugs. Not just a single stupid spider ant. But many other kinds.

I have become death.......the casher at the donut shop.......

MUTO is a code word for "mutation". This means that the MUTOS are not all the same species and it certainly does not mean different kinds of insects

My best guesstimate is that Dr. Brody (Bryan Cranston) worked for Jan-Jira and conducted fairly ethical work, but then someone got the bright idea to start testing radiation on habitats of animals or contained contamination, anyway, he leaves the company, obviously, and then these creatures start appearing and attacking cities and the military code-name's them MUTO. So, my guess is Jan-Jira is to blame for the Mutos and/or "Vishnu."

I think the mutos should be linked to the Japanese nuclear power plant leaks due to the earthquakes and tsunamis, but some of them were collected for study to see how various forms of radiation were affecting living organism, and that some small government cell (U.S., Japanese, or some other country) tried to make them into bio-weapons but the experiments failed and caused their release.
