Personally I truly hope they do a good job with this movie. I've been a Godzilla fan for over 40 years and now my son enjoys the movies with me. We are looking forward to the release of this movie. I want this to be a memorable movie in a good way.

I trust in the new movie, it will not be just a comercial film like transformers, battleship or 2012, why am I so sure about that? simply because: 1. The director is Gareth Edwards, we know that he is not like Roland Emerich, or Michael Bay, directors who just want to make commercial films, and are more worried for the box office than for the public reception, Edwards is a true director, who make a good suspence and a good drama. 2. It will be scored by Alexandre Desplat, one of my favourites composers of all time, along with James N. Howard (King Kong 2005, The Hunger Games), Patrick Doyle (Frankenstein 94, Rise of the Planet of the Apes), James Horner(Balto, Titanic, Avatar), Hans Zimmer (Spirit, Inception, The Dark Knight, The Lion King) and John Williams (Jaws, Star Wars, E.T., Jurassic Park, War of the Worlds, Indiana Jones). I like the Alexandre Desplat style, Neither chaotic nor Thunderous, is more melodic and very expressive, I like the music that he made for Harry Potter 7. 3. Here will be Walter White in the movie, the Breaking Bad protagonist, I love that guy, he will be the most memorable character in the movie. 4. Legendary Pictures: 300, Pacific Rim, Clash of the Titans, Man of Steel, The Dark Knight, Enough said. 5. It is a movie about GODZILLA, I mean, Is the most famous monster in the whole world, every single kid or adult know who it is; just like Dracula, Werewolves and Zombies, every movie about Zombies, Werewolves and Dracula are good, just with a few exceptions (FUCK YOU TWILIGHT AND FUCK YOU WARM BODIES).

@REGGIE1138, thank you for that. I do agree it was a huge hit, Hopefully Batman vs Superman will be balanced between the two. An ordinary man against an alien who can do everything is intriguing lol I think us fans do deserve a proper modern Godzilla.

@INSTINCTIVEGIGAN, I just feel like for the first time, I can see Godzilla in such a way that it hasn't been done before. I don't mean to bash other movies, I do love them. I'm just hoping Godzilla is MORE than just effects and action. I want substance. I feel if there is a great balance of realism, creatures, , suspense, characters, Godzilla and action all paced with a solid story. We can get an excellent movie.

@DURP004, It\'s only my opinion, which is why I wanted to hear others opinions. These are just things I wanted, Id love to here what the rest of the G fans want :) Also even thought the 98 version is hated(I hate it too) It still sold a great amount. I know it seems as if Legendary/Warner Bros are too close handed with the promoting...But I feel like that\'s a good thing. If they over promote it, then maybe it\'ll be judged in a way that\'ll prevent people from seeing it. I\'m guessing they will wait, then promote it in such a way that it creates a \"need\" for people to see. A good example was the marketing of Cloverfield. Remember how they revealed so little, that everyone was DYING to figure out. So by the time it was released, so many people saw it. Even though everyone will know that its Godzilla, Im sure they can give tight promotion that ultimately, might benefit them. The movie still has a while till it\'s release. So Im sure action will be taken with the next few months or so.

I respectfully disagree with the comment that The Avengers was on par with Pacific Rim in terms of being forgetful. Avengers was a massive hit worldwide and set the bar for superhero mash up movies. Just wait til Batman vs. Superman comes out it will have a lot to live up to. As far as Godzilla goes I've been a big fan since the early 70's when my Dad introduced me to him. I'm 42 soon to be 43 years old now and although I still love the old Godzilla movies I have to admit most have not aged well. Some of the charm has been lost for me. I feel it's time to upgrade the big guy and make a overall better quality film around him. So in that regard I agree with you. Gareth's promise to build a story which is centered on making us care about the people in the story as much as Godzilla himself is a much welcomed approach to me. It's the reason why I'm so excited to see this film. I have no doubt that it will deliver on some great action and spectacle as well. I just want the story to shine through and be the best ever told in the Godzilla series. After all of these years the big guy and us fans deserve it.

Gareth Edwards is that you?! Seriously dude, everything you hope for the movie is almost exactly how Gareth has described how it's going to be which is a very good thing. I agree with everything you say. I want this movie to be a film memory, not an easy forgettable summer movie.

This seems like you're basing this largely on your taste. Sure the dark knight was nice but it was not without faults, and it was forgotten by most after it was done just like all the others. These are all things you want, but perhaps some1 doesn't. Maybe I like campyness and I guarantee I can argue as many reasons why it should be there as you can why it shouldn't. Godzilla may be a known name but sometimes that isn't a good thing depending on what is attached to it. The last Godzilla movies didn't do so well, and the last american version is almost universally hated. The basic American population thinks 60s guy in a rubber suit doing kong fu with bad dubbing when they think of the title, or they think of the American version. The movies that come out the same month are all big names, and since there's been 0 public teasers for this movie compared to those around it I can see it being very possible the movie doesn't do well enough to get a sequel which in today's market means it didn't do well.

Still Godzilla 2014 is going to be a hit like everyone is excited for it Godzilla is the King of all monsters and he,s still popular today

Gotchya. The way it was written made it sound like you were actually expecting a literal Vishnu to appear in this movie-- After the many assumptions and crazy contrivances I've read on this forum, it didn't seem any less likely you'd believe such a thing.

If the film is ever going to go into R territory, it'll probably appear as an "uncut" special edition DVD sometime in the future. Edwards may have grittier scenes, or he may not. Personally, I doubt it, but would be pleasantly surprised if that were the case.

Come on, now. You can't be serious. I'm completely aware that was Oppenheimer's voice and that the monster's name isn't Vishnu LOL. Vishnu is the Hindu God of all things. I put it in quotations dubbing it because the monster just so happens to have many arms and coincidentally is shown when Oppenheimer is talking about the metaphor of the atom bomb and Vishnu's multi-limbed form and awesome power.

Biollante since from what I understand int's impossible to fully kill her, she just separates into energy and goes into the sky until she chooses to come down again. Godzilla roasted her in her rose form but she came down again, and even after she had a hole blown in the back of her head her particles still existed as seen in Godzilla vs Sapcegodzilla

Vishnu isn't a monster that will be in the movie. It is a being from the Hindu holy scripture, the Bhagavad-Gita. The reference to him in the trailer is made by J. Oppenheimer, who was part of the Manhattan Project in the 1940s. The Vishnu line is meant to be metaphorical, not literal. I wouldn't look too far into it unless you want to relate it to the post-modern relationship mankind has with Godzilla.

The film will, as most Godzilla films are, be PG-13 due to mild violence and language. Fantasy violence manages to avoid the R rating quite often such as Pacific Rim despite the amount of Kaiju blood and gore that we saw (for those who watched it of course). This new film will likely not deviate from the standard PG-13 rating, but if it does venture into the R rated category then all the better so long as they don't spam the word "fuck" every two sentences like some R rated movies have done in the past.

Destroyah huh... To be honest, I prefer Bagan, but you do make a point. Someone who can match up with a planetbuster can surely take on Bagan. But I wonder who will be victorious? Bagan or Destroyah? Oh, you mean that totem-like Bagan that was supposed to appear in a movie? No, what I mean is, I heard that Bagan can generate electrical wings and fly. He can even extend his claws! I think I saw it in a discussion somewhere, but I forgot the site.

The only 1 who could possibly match him is Destroyah, since they're both basically the same. Godzilla was in his meltdown state, which is essentially a supergodzilla form before he could even fight back against Destroyah. In his orignal concept Bagan could fly but that Bagan was much different than the 1 that came out for the game.

Question, is this Kiryu with the Absolute Zero Cannon or without it?(I forgot the name of the substitute weapon...)

I think it will be between PG13 and R, I would Like to see people dead, buildings falling apart over people, Godzilla crushing people with his foot, children being burned alive and screaming of pain because of radiation, and that kind of things.

While a R rated Godzilla movie would be interesting, i would have to say PG-13. Previous ones have shown people getting crushed, or getting directly blasted by the atomic breath, as shown in Godzilla 2000 and GMK. Monsters have been shown getting torn apart sometimes, like in Godzilla VS Spacegodzilla, Spacegodzilla got chunks blown off of him by the Spiral Ray. But that doesn't elavate a rating.

It will be a hard PG-13 because of death and destruction. But they want more people watching the movie.

damn it guys yes the heisei mecha gave godzilla the worst beating but did not kill him for crying out loud here godzilla was paralyzed damn it not dead he just couldnt stand up besides in that movie when godzilla was paralyzed they still attacked him while he was down and if i recall he was still roaring when they attacked him because of fire rodan he revived the brain so that godzilla could stand back up and destroyed super mechagodzilla with his more powerful atomic breath and as far as my favorite model i would have to say KIRYU he was bad ass looking

I like all of the mechaGodzilla's but in design alone I'd have to say the original showa version is my favorite. It's all about the finger missiles

I don't think Final Wars Godzilla was strong as much as all the other monsters were extremely weak versions of their past selves. So Super Godzilla without a doubt. A better comparison would have been super Godzilla vs Burning Godzilla(aka Godzilla from Godzilla vs Destroyah)

And what kaiju are immortal? Arguably just biollante and possibly mothra depending what source you go off. But lets start off with the other points. Superman isn't even the strongest superhero, or character from either universe. There are others like sentry, Thor and Silver surfer that all can do pretty much anything you can think of in terms of power. Galactus can be as big as we wants. Idk where you're getting that size from except maybe video game or something. Just to give you a little piece of info Galactus has a ship that he rides in as big as a solar system and his powers range well really anything Godzilla, or any other kaiju except maybe space godzilla would be killed immediately. Flash can outrun death, literally. No kaiju could touch him. What makes you think hulk wouldn't just absorb the radiation from his ray? He's adsorbed radiation before so he can do it again, granted godzilla could also absorb radiation from him, but any non radiated monster would not have that luxury. Those are just a few of the heroes off my head, I didn't even use most of the villains besides Galactus and for the most part the villains are much stronger than most heroes Doomsday, darkseid, apocalypse Thanos ect all have just as much power if not more than superman or any other hero
