Final Wars Godzilla would be my vote, based on the fact i never really played Super Godzilla. I know Super Godzilla is powerfull, but i can only guess. The Final Wars Godzilla was over the top powerfull, defintly THE strongest Godzilla seen on film. Super Godzilla is a super form of the heisei Godzilla, who defeated Bagan.
ReplyTheGMan123Godzilla ForumFinal Wars Gojira vs Super Gojira... who would win?Nov 14, 2013
American Godzilla wins! No,not that stupid lizard thing from 1998! But seriously,I think Super G because Bagan surpassed nearly every other known monster at the time, including the dreaded King Ghidorah and Mech-King Ghidorah.

I hope that if a "bomb" is used in the conventional sense,it should be a nuke. That would help give the impression of the sheer destructive Godzilla entails that requires the usage of the greatest weapon known to Humanity. However, him not being disintegrated in the blast should act as an indication of him surviving, perhaps even becoming stronger in sequels because of it. That is,IF a nuke is used.

I think he will not gonna die in this movie. the idea of a post-credits scene with him awakening in the deep sea is very awesome!

Considering you heard it a year ago it very much doesn't have anything to do with the new movie. The film wasn't even being shot a year ago and the composer was only announced a couple of months ago.
Regardless, I am interested in hearing it.

@GojiravsClover and @InstinctiveGigan
The movie is still five and a half months away. There's no way the movie would be finished by now. Besides, studios don't simply let finished products sit around and do nothing unless there is a distribution problem-- more often seen with indie flicks.
I also plainly explain much of this is my own speculation. But since you asked, I'm also basing my assumptions off of five years of film business education, two years of cinema marketing experience and three of actually working on both sets and pre-production.
What Mr. Borenstein said is that he's certainly excited about the cut he watched. What it tells us is that there is a version, likely unfinished, that is closing in on completion. Take it as a progress report and not much more-- which is plainly explained in a couple of my early sentences: "What does this mean? Well not too much exciting."
I apologize if such speculation was too much for you to handle.

I agree with GOJIRAVSCLOVER, aside from the whole aggressive tone. All the tweet says is he's seen the Godzilla film and loved it. This is only good news from what I can tell.

Where do you surmise all this from, "Just saw my favorite movie of next year."? How do you know he didn't see the complete movie? It's hilarious how you simply run off on some tangent making crap up as you go along. Probably did this, probably did that. What I read is, "Just saw my favorite movie of next year." not, "Just saw my favorite 'workprint version' movie of next year" or, "Just saw my favorite "early cut" movie of next year."
ReplyDurp004Godzilla 2014 ForumWill the 2014 Godzilla be defeated like its 1954 counterpart?Nov 13, 2013
I don't believe so. The only times Godzilla is really beaten is when he's alone in movies, when there's another monster he may be driven away but he's never outright killed, or at least explicitly said so.
If they do beat him I don't think it would be a definite things like in Gojira or Godzilla vs. Destroyah, but more ambiguous with there being more of a hint to him surviving.
Since they're going for a dark theme I think it would be much better if they drove him away but knew full well he was alive and could attack again at any notice and left pondering why they had created such an unstoppable force and what was gained from it.

@ KingOfZombies
If Godzilla was alive in the post-credit scene, would the protagonists know about it? Good question. On one hand I would say no.
However, the idea of them knowing has a certain appeal. Say they are celebrating or something, then all of a sudden one of the Navy Subs is calling for help... until they are cut off by an ominous roar.

Godzilla cannot die, i think they will "kill" him in the movie, but we will see him alive in a post-credits scene, or something like that. The real question is: Will the protagonists know that he still alive? or only us, the public?
ReplyGodzillasaurusGodzilla 2014 ForumWill the 2014 Godzilla be defeated like its 1954 counterpart?Nov 13, 2013
He may or may not be killed; we do not know. But if he does get killed, it will probably be more realistic than an oxygen destroyer

Cool bit of news! This is very exciting to hear. While we may not get a lot of cool effect shots, we may get some already made ones from the Comic Con trailers. Now some simpler sounds/effects could be added.
ReplyGzillaFAN67Godzilla 2014 ForumWill the 2014 Godzilla be defeated like its 1954 counterpart?Nov 13, 2013
The answer is: the same as always.
Godzilla is always "killed" or everyone believes he's been killed, but then he keeps coming back.
The point of the original film was that humankind created another force of nature experimenting with things like the atom bomb and the creation is beyond the creators ability to control (kill).
In the original they did kill Godzilla, but the tone was that a Pandora's box had opened and there was no guarantee that something else wouldn't replace him.
They'll "kill" him off but the door will definitely be left open for another film...

That is really cool art. I will be honest. I never got into Gamera. It was not because I found him dumb, but it is hard to find his films here in the states. I think that they have the films on YouTube though. Still, this is fantastic artwork. I love how you added a darker tone to a classic Gamera monster.
ReplyJudge BagginsGodzilla 2014 ForumWill the 2014 Godzilla be defeated like its 1954 counterpart?Nov 13, 2013
It is interesting to ponder, but I highly doubt that they would kill Godzilla in this film. Remember that this is considered a reboot of the classic Japanese Godzilla. If they were going to kill off Godzilla, why make it a reboot? If Godzilla dies, it should be a standalone remake.

ReplyGreenZilla93Godzilla 2014 ForumHow would you want Godzilla (2014) to start?Nov 13, 2013
I guess it will either start with the "everything is nice and quite" route, to contrast the coming destruction, or they will start with something ominous, like a ship being attacked or something, but not show Godzilla yet, and then they would do the "nice and quite" thing.
Either way, we're probably getting the "nice and quite" routine in the begining

I would like to see it like the PR opening, but maybe about the first Nuclear Arms race and all the damage it caused. This next part is wishful thinking, but if this movie is linked to the first, maybe seeing the first Godzilla attack Tokyo in 1954, then arrive at present day when the "seismic activity" occurs.
Replykaijugroupie84Godzilla Fan Works ForumSPACEGODZILLA REVISTiED Nov 12, 2013
I love Spacegodzilla, personally. I think he's extremely underrated, and he probably has some of the best attributes of any Godzilla adversary and his ear-splitting roar just makes it all complete.
ReplyDurp004Godzilla 2014 ForumShould Gigan return in the new Legendary Godzilla Series?Nov 12, 2013
IMO no. Gigan is right in the mid ground for me. He's not 1 of the extremely popular enemies like ghidorah or mothra, that even though I'm 100% against it, will probably be brought into the new series before any other toho monsters.
But he's also not one of the obscure enemies who need to be given another chance. He's somewhere between the 2 as just an average enemy.
Granted this is my opinion only but Gigan is not the best choice for a monster that needs to come back when compared to the vast amount of other choices.
