I've frequented this site since it's inception, however, I've never made an account for myself until now. So I have read most discussion posts and have some things to say:
1. Gareth Edwards made the film "Monsters". Of course, I'm sure most of us here have seen the film and how beautiful it is. With the very little on-screen time these 'monsters' get, Edwards makes you feel for these beings ( I, for one, cried at the end). Edwards shows you that the title is referencing humans, not the creatures as the film reaches it's crescendo and then leaves you with the word 'monsters' throbbing in your mind. I believe this film is going to follow the same concept where you feel bad for the individual characters you grow close to, but you're going to realize it's ultimately the human race's fault we're in this situation.
2. In "Monsters", Gareth Edwards took flying octopus aliens and he made it work beautifully. I don't understand why people are complaining about these MUTO's in the trailers. If he can take flying octopuses and make it work, he has my trust with almost anything.
3. The MUTO in the airport trailer is apparently depicted as a white/gray insect being. Now, I've kept various insects before, and the one time where insects are white is during molting. Molting is a process in which anything with an exoskeleton undergoes. The creature outgrows its skin and literally hops out of the exoskeleton leaving the body exposed, mushy, soft and WHITE. Over time, the soft and mushy exoskeleton hardens and the creature will turn obtain its natural colors. During this time of hardening, the creature can be extremely grumpy, defensive and violent because it is aware that it has been weakened by hopping out of its hard shell. This MUTO at the airport could very well be a stage in the life-cycle of a much bigger picture.
4. As for the 'Vishnu' monster, I wouldn't completely write off its existence. Why play that teaser at the Italian festival days ago if this being takes no part in the film and if Godzilla's appearance has changed since this concept video was made? Of course it's probably the deepest and one of the most scary teasers I've ever witnessed, but why not show the airport scene instead which apparently has an official MUTO in it?
