I know i've said it before but now I'm convinced...since this movie is going back to the feel of the original then i can completely see Godzilla being 400' tall. After all that's how tall we made him in the American dub.
Hey their Daikaiju Danielle! Three guesses who this is?! :)
I seriously hope that your drawing is close to how that Muto will look in the film. But like I said earlier, even if it's not, you've made one heck of an awesome kaiju! Keep up the good work!
@TRUE AMERICAN GODZILLA
Well just to clarify (because I didn't stated it anywhere on my last post), and now that I read the post where you estimate Godzilla's size, I'm not discarding entirely the possibility that a Godzilla of such size could be the one we will see in the final film. If that's the case then I think Gareth exagerated a little trying to create the biggest Godzilla ever seen, I personally wouldn't like it that much, but I have to admit that it would definitely be an impressive and jaw-dropping vision nevertheless. At the end all that matters is that it's still Godzilla.
Isn't there supposed to be two or did I hear wrong?
@LYUTAVEN: As I said, this was my recent estimation based on the official trailer at that paratrooper scene.
San Francisco is in an earthquake region, so I'd assume the buildings would withstand (to a degree) severe earthquake shaking. This could make them survive longer when Godzilla walks around.
I will freely drop this size as soon as I get a better scene (or leaked image) to give a clue to the overall size of Godzilla.
I too had noticed the crocodilian traits and wondered its orgin as well. I like your theory, as it could explain why our Godzill has both gills and crocodillian traits.
I saw that image and even used it to compare the brief shot in the official trailer that shows, what seems to be, a MUTO attacking the train. However, we still don't have a good shot of the Muto monster even with both sources.
I've always thought that 237 meters (779 feet) is just way too much, and yeah, it's outrageous just to think Godzilla would be that size.
Now I realize that was just speculation (after all we are still making estimations) but let's imagine if Godzilla's height was that, now imagine if that Godzilla were to fight King Ghidorah... How tall would that King Ghidorah have to be in order to keep his usual size advantage?! That guy would be like over 300 meters tall!!! It would dwarf enourmous kaiju such as Biollante, Legion and Slattern so much that it would be simply ridiculous.
Kaijus of that size (+230 meters) wouldn't even be able to walk in the streets, they just try to walk and basically become giant bulldozers bringing down the whole block of buildings in their way with them. Personally I agree on the 110-140 meters estimation. But, Who knows?
@Kyero: In the part where the paratroopers see Godzilla, Godzilla is walking forward. Considering the angle and size of the city of San Francisco, Godzilla could easily have been farther back in the middle of the city (those skyscrapers are near the shore, not the middle) so Godzilla wouldn't be visible in that shot.
Besides, again at your 55 second spot, we see a lot of cloud/smoke cover behind the skyscrapers, Godzilla could easily be within it and still not be visible.
Gotta love these kinds of ideas. They either do extremely well, or just burn up in the upper atomosphere of the excutives. Personally, the only way I see them doing a Godzilla "Anime" is to make it a 2-3 part mini series with intense animation (dark knight returns, star wars clone wars). To quote Harvey Dent, "You either die a hero, or you live long enough to see yourself become the villian."
I only posted the 779' ESTIMATE because I saw something in the OFFICIAL TRAILER that rattled my own opinion of the American Godzilla size.
At first, I was like you that our Godzilla would be around 400-500' tall but had nothing official to even suggest Godzilla is this big. I also had heard that Edwards wanted big but not too big. Considering how many skyscrapers are in San Fracisco, where it has loads of 400s-600s foot tall buildings, figuring out what height is big enough to be seen YET not so tall that Godzilla can't hide is tough.
Say Godzilla was 780' tall when standing upright, it would be JUST taller than the 600+ foot tall buildings we have in San Francisco. In today's world, our major cities has such huge buildings that Godzilla at 328' tall (100 meters) would completely disappear in (depending on where in the city).
Now I freely admit my size ESTIMATION of 780' is off. This was using the building the viewer was falling towards staring out at Godzilla. I was hoping for something to be right next to the American Godzilla to identify and use its size to determine Godzilla's size. However the ending scene (where Godzilla's claw goes above a building before turning to roar) doesn't help. The building was destroyed for one thing so I can even begin to speculate its original shape or size. That's why the 555 Street Building is our first REAL HINT to the size of the American Godzilla. I NEVER said this was the official size, just a SIZE ESTIMATION!
I have to dissagre with that if anything Godzilla represent's the Pheonix not Vishnu.
I'm with Gojira of godzilla on this one.
I don't think he'll use it that much.
i forgot to say that since it's solar powered it could go bad and be a new thret for the time bieng
Actually, I have been listening to Alexandre Despat, who is composing the Godzilla soundtrack, and his pieces (primarily his Harry Potter work) and he tends to use piano and Orchestral instruments. :)
He's a very good composer, and he expresses a lot of emotion (which will aid the Godzilla film during many scenes with our main cast).
I read something that said he would be nearly twice the height of the 90's Godzilla... that would put him between 150 and 200 meters which seems more accurate (likely between 450 and 600 feet leaning closer to 500, which is close to the size of the one Pacific Rim category 5 kaiju)
Not a song. Simply, not a song. Now that i have gotten that out of the way;
I dont think we`ll hear the Godzilla theme. But im sure Alexandre Desplat can make up something thats deep, scary and dark. We dont need the theme music, it would just be a cool addon.
Ive mentioned the same before. Edwards said he liked the Monster Island "concept". Meaning it doesnt have too be an island. And the longer you dig down, you might find something else down there...Something other than just Godzilla and the spider creatures...
my guess is that he is a Godzilla, latin name is Godzilla Gojira. Look it up.
Could very well be. Now, the image is very abstracts. However;
I like the silhoute. It seems so otherwordly, freaky and...I dont know. But its like how people design rosswell greys; Completely white, and cold black eyes. No soul. Freaky stuff.
What the hell is with this forum and hedorah he is a shit monster and the movie itself was garbage. If your fan of the shit monster I am not against that I am just sayings he/it is not so great.
Godzilla sure has much more of a crocodile looking scale pattern than the linear skin texture then the older Japanese designs. IMO save for making the toes longer, the desingn looks cool.
I hope they make a model kit of this. A kitto matc hthe scale of some of the otehr model kits would be cool. For example a 1991 Godzilla Heisei design kit I saw is 30 cm tall. How big would this 2014 design be if you had a kit to match the scale of this older kit? Heisei is 328 ft. tall.
US 2014 G is about 500 ft. tall or more.
I can further prove that Godzilla will never be that tall, so listen well because you're about to learn something.
In the trailer we see at 56 seconds that the 555 building and the Transamerica Pyramid are clearly visible in the foreground with the HALO jumpers falling above them. If Godzilla was anywhere near the height of those buildings, let alone matching them in height, then he would be plainly visible in that exact shot as they fall upon the city.
There'd be no point in trying to hide him in the next shot as we see the POV of the soldier as he looks down at Godzilla. If Godzilla were 700'+ in height, he'd tower over just about everything in the trailer and would be plainly visible in the trailer's early sequences no matter where he was in the city.
You guys need to use more critical thinking skills when you examine these kinds of shots. It's simple logic. If Godzilla were 700+ feet tall, there would be no way to mask him in the city of San Francisco. There are only 21 skyscrapers in San Francisco which rise to or above 150 meters (492 feet), and Godzilla was not seen towering over a single one in that shot at 56 seconds. Again, no matter where he is in the city, standing at a height of 779' would make him plainly visible.
There's no way Godzilla will be 700+ in height.
Your chart needs to replace the image of the Heisei 90s Godzilla. You have the Final Wars 'zilla which is 60 meters tall. This is the 90s Godzilla. 100 meters tall.
I like everything but the feet. Can't wait to add him to my collection!
Short answer: No.
King Kong vs Godzilla was a terrible movie despite the fact that it did well at the box office. I can remember another Godzilla movie that did well at the box office despite being a big let down *cough* 98 abomination *cough*.
I own every Godzilla movie ever made and have watched all of them more times than I dare reveal. As a child, I loved Kong vs Godzilla. As an adult, I hate it. Poor acting, completely crappy suit designs (Kong especially), and an even more horrible plot. Everything about it is forced and awkward without a single redeeming quality to it save for the fact that Godzilla is in it.
A remake would not provide anything new or exciting to us fans, and scaling up Kong once again without explanation or true cause would just be contrived and a slap in the face to both Godzilla and Kong himself.
Guys, you might want to see this on how Godzilla was designed for the original 1954 movie. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yfSARjZ0OXc
Godzilla is a mix of a T-rex, iguanadon, stegasaurus, and a crocodile. That's the features blended to make the original look.
This should help. :)
I can prove this estimation wrong with one sentence: The trailer displays the 555 building in full view as the soldiers are descending and Godzilla is nowhere in sight despite the fact that we know he's practically right underneath them.
At 56 seconds in the trailer, you see the 555 building and the Transamerica Pyramid in plain sight as the soldiers fall, and if Godzilla was 779' tall as you claim then he would be in full view during that segment of the trailer.
This estimation is completely wrong, period.
the reason that the crocodile theory seems reasonable is becuase there were no dinosaurs in the ocean. it is a common misconception that animals like pliosaurs and pleisiosaurs in the ocean were dinosaurs, when infact, they were simply marine reptiles, not dinosaurs. but i do get your idea.
the classic godzilla ogininated as a fictional therapod, it was very similar to a T.Rex, but buch larger, and much tougher. this was explained in Godzilla vs King Ghidorah
i think the giant claw shoud be in the in game
At least vs. Megalon had a consistant story with fewer plot holes. vs. SpaceGodzilla didn't even try to make sense of itself.
