MemberMothra LarvaeDec-14-2013 10:15 PMSo, we probably all know about the Muto website now. You probably also know that it mentions "Monarch" a few time. Remember a while back when word spread about a giant spider known as Muto being in the film? What I think is that Muto is a secret government organization that is researching and possibly even.. creating monsters? Well all the evidence is there. Every time you mention a Kaiju's name on the site it says it can't verify it's existence, but it still clearly recognizes the name! What I think is that Muto is so interested in Kaiju and nuclear energy because they want to assemble an army of monsters. Why?
What I think is that Monarch is an extraterrestrial cosmic entity that basically took control over some government officials or whoever and created Muto to assemble an army so it can take over Earth. Perharps Monarch itself is a Kaiju? What I think is that Monarch is the mentioned spider-like monster, and that the whole thing where they called it Muto was just a naming mistake because the two entities are so associated. I mean, how many of us at one point called Gozer from Ghostbusters "Zuul"?
So maybe in the sequel, Monarch will reveal itself and unleash it's army, which would be like, uh, Ghidorah, Rodan, maybe Mothra... I don't know. But maybe the giant centipede shown in the Comic Con trailer is actually one of these monsters, but it just escaped from the Muto facility, or maybe even Monarch's mothership, where it was being held with all the others. Make sense? Well, I sure hope it does. Anyways, that's just what I think. What are your theories?

GODZILLA HIMSELF
MemberMothra LarvaeDec-15-2013 12:05 AMwhy does everyone say that was a centapede? it had hands, fingers, and clearly reaptillan skin as well as tail. also, if you look closer, it apears to be 2 different creatures, not one overly long one.

MemberMothra LarvaeDec-15-2013 8:51 AMOh my god, GARETH ONLY SECURED RIGHTS FOR GODZILLA! I DO NOT THINK HE WOULD SECURE THE RIGHTS TO OTHER MONSTERS IF HE WANTED A SEQUEL! GHIDORAH AND MOTHRA ARE NOT VERY REALISTIC! Now don't get me wrong, because I do like Ghidorah and Mothra, but I do not think they could be realistic. I mean, a giant 3-headed dragon that shoots gravity beams? And a giant butterfly that shoots energy bolts?
FOR SCIENCE OF COURSE!

MemberMothra LarvaeDec-15-2013 10:34 AMyou just have to make there origins realistic. any way i think your theory is kind of cool

GODZILLA HIMSELF
MemberMothra LarvaeDec-15-2013 2:18 PMkaiju origins as well as the kaiju themselves can never be realistic. however, you can make the human reaction realistic. what would the world do if kaiju really appeared? that is where realism will come in with the new movie. thincking that the monsters themselves and/or their origins will be realistic is really quite UNREALISTIC

MemberMothra LarvaeDec-15-2013 4:40 PM@CoolGodzilla1234 I never said the other Kaiju would appear in THIS ONE, but it's possible they could appear in a sequel. Also, they could just be a bunch of brand new Kaiju, too, with just slight tiny references to Toho's Kaiju like possibly the name "PROJECT GHIDORAH" appearing on a computer screen every now and then.

MemberMothra LarvaeDec-19-2013 2:05 PMToho monsters will NOT be appearing in this franchise.
A reboot, be definition, ignores ALL previous content and continuity for the purpose of reinventing its characters, storyline, etc,.
Having Dr. Serizawa is already a big deviation and something of a risky move. However, given that he's so closely associated with Godzilla I can see why they'd bring him back even if his character is not the same as it was in the 50's version. No eye patch, no oxygen destroyer, an entirely new version of the character.
Still, Toho monsters are Toho monsters. They are not Legendary monsters. Legendary must acquire rights to EACH monster in the Toho lineup if they want to use them in their movies, and that would get crazy expensive especially if this first movie does well enough.
Another reason it's not going to happen is because Toho is not actually a part of this production. They own Godzilla, they do not own Legendary's story, its human characters, nor any other part of the feature except the monster known as Godzilla. All other Toho monsters should stay with Toho and in their original forms. Bringing them to the screen in CG just to please a few fans that want to see updated versions of them is not something Legendary is going to do, nor should they.
As I said, Toho monsters are Toho monsters. All of them: King Ghidorah, Mothra, Gigan, Anguirus, Destoroyah, Biollante, Spacegodzilla, Mechagodzilla... ALL Toho monsters belong in their original Toho forms and should NOT be used in Legendary's franchise.
This is a new version of Godzilla. A new story. A new universe centered around the creature. Bringing back Toho monsters just because a few fans want to see them would be contrived, irresponsible, and downright lackluster on the part of Legendary. If they can't create and maintain their own version of the creature without falling back on Toho for support, then they don't deserve to make the franchise in the first place.
No other Toho monsters besides Godzilla himself belong in Legendary's new franchise.

MemberMothra LarvaeDec-21-2013 8:37 AMNo extraterrestrials, no Toho kaijus...
M.U.T.O will be a secret research organization, maybe involving several different governments. They'll be researching those giant sinkholes, like the actual one in Turkmenistan, which has been named "The Doorway To Hell"...
I get the impression that new lifeforms are discovered in these, or that the project itself is genetically experimenting on whatever they've found there...

MemberMothra LarvaeDec-21-2013 5:52 PMOnce again, I NEVER SAID ANYTHING ABOUT BEING 100% SURE THAT TOHO KAIJU WILL BE IN THIS. I SAID MAYBE.
It's a possibility, even though I know it's very very unlikely.
You can't just say "Oh, it's a reboot, that automatically means there is 100% no possibility whatsoever of any Toho Kaiju ever appearing in this series at all".
