That sounds amazing! But why would the government want to create ANOTHER MONSTER. I know it would be for fighting G, but the monster will obviously backfire. It already happened in Godzilla Against MechaGodzilla, when MechaGodzilla went beserk! This is my take on governments in Godzilla movies: "HURR WE MAKE MORE MONSTERS DURR". But, I really love your idea!

No. Different series. Then it might as well be the cloverfield monster.
Legendary wants for people to forget the other shitty movie and its shitty follow up cartoon. Its an unused monster, probably a MUTO prototype.

And don't ask, "Then why can't we see him in the wide-shot of the skyline?". It's as simple as there being a very real difference between an unfinished visual effect and completely re-designing one. And I know that Godzilla's size has always been exaggerated. But that was always in the posters; the artwork. But here, it's the trailer with, what most certainly seems to be footage from the actual film that they worked hard on. So, until there's a definitive size, for now, I believe he is no smaller than 600 feet. There's simply no proof I've seen so far that points towards him being any smaller.
And I KNOW what Gareth Edwards said. I've been following this project like a hawk ever since it's announcement 3 years ago. But you must keep in mind that Edwards wants to both respect the Japanese films while still creating something terrifying, a world-ending calamity. And I can only imagine that Godzilla will be virtually impervious to traditional military weaponry and in order to do that realistically, I think he'd need to be significantly bigger than any other rendition we've seen in the past. That or they explain that the radiation concentration on him is so powerful it destroys any projectiles coming near him (is that even possible?). In which case the soldiers would be wearing heavy-duty hazmat suits ANYWHERE Godzilla has been. That or Godzilla is 400 tall and the military is portrayed as a clog of incompetent, jingoistic morons who just shoot without thinking. Either way, both scenarios would break the illusion of realism and harm the film substantially from being great. Or the military CAN defeat Godzilla on their own with traditional weapons, in which case Edwards completely disregards one of the defining traits of the monster.
And perhaps Edwards wasn't thinking of the military or conventional means of defense when coming up with his size. Maybe he was considering what other kinds of monsters he would be fighting in terms of "what you can do". Since Dr. Serizawa is in this film, we can assume he has developed some kind of weapon that can kill Godzilla, regardless of his size.
And, to be blunt, I also simply don't think that height between 600-800 feet is that ridiculous. It's certainly more sensible than practically every Godzilla film ever made after the first one.
master_of_magnetism1993Godzilla 2014 Forum2014 Godzilla's height? Again?Dec 24, 2013Reply
So are you suggesting that Godzilla's height was amped up just for the trailer? We may not have an exact camera angle or distance as to how far away he is from the 555 building, but if you look at the last frame of that scene in the trailer, it looks pretty damn close to me. If he was within the 400 foot range, the soldier would've lost his line of sight on him long before getting near the roof of the building. And if you say it's because he's a couple blocks away, than that would only suggest that he is LARGER than the building at the end of that scene. So, unless you're suggesting his size was over-exaggerated for the trailer alone, needlessly copying and bring back memories of the the 1998 remake they want us to forget so much, he most certainly larger than 500 feet. You don't need to be an expert at geometry to see that.

no,
1. this has nothing to do with zilla, it is a GODZILLA reboot.
2. it is clearly reptilian, it has hands and claws and a reptilian tail, i realy don,t get why everyone says its like a centipede
3. that monster was only part of a proof of concept teaser, nothing more. it will not be in the movie anyway.
4. if they are going to base any new monsters off of old ones at all, its going to be toho monsters like destroyah, rodan, battra, etc.

KyeroGodzilla 2014 Forum2014 Godzilla's height? Again?Dec 24, 2013Reply
For all those who think Godzilla's height is going to push new extremes, you're all wrong.
Gareth Edwards confirmed in an interview with IGN the day before the Godzilla encounter that his Godzilla would only just be the tallest there's ever been. He compared the way he increased Godzilla's size to the way the certain skyscrapers outdo one another by small margins as a new "tallest" building is constructed. He confirmed that his Godzilla would be well within the margin for only just being taller than the previous Godzillas, and the chances of Godzilla's height exceeding about 120-140 meters is slim to none. If he does touch 400 feet, that will likely be his absolute limit. I doubt Edwards would push things that far based on what he said in the interview.
Don't believe me? Watch the interview yourself.
There are a few threads trying to explain how his height is 779' and matches the 555 street building in San Fran, but those estimations are made by kids who don't know what they're talking about. They have no clue how to take camera angle, relative distance, and physics into account in their estimations.
Godzilla's going to be well within the limit of less than 400 feet. That much is almost guaranteed by Edwards himself in that interview Again, if you don't believe me then search for and watch the interview for yourself.
Godzilla is only just going to be in his tallest form, likely less than 120 meters in height, 140 at absolute max.

I'm not sure about if I would wathc an anime with Godzilla, all depends of the kind of the show tho.

Well, really, I think both ways are good. I like him as a hero, protecting the earth from whatever threats show up, be it other monsters, aliens, or mankind, just as long as it doesn't go over the top by having him actually trying to save mankind like a superhero, like in the 70s movies. And I like him as a villain, an unstoppable force of nature that punishes mankind for its arrogance and causes death and destrucion in his path, as long as that doesn't go too over the top by making him actually malicious and going out of his way to kill random people, like in GMK (although that's still one of my favorite Godzilla movies). However, like most of the other people on this thread, I like him best as an anti-hero, both saving the earth in order to defend his territory and destroying cities.

so Toho has made anime before, but they still not making one about Godzilla, and you know why?
because is such a BAD idea, Godzilla is a badass monster, and anime is cute and gay, Toho know it, so why you no, just, you know, enjoy Godzilla movies, and accept the monster just as he is and stop posting "I want Godzilla anime!"?
LinkzillaGodzilla 2014 Forumgodzilla after the movieDec 23, 2013Reply
*Sigh* Don't the people who constantly suggest this ever stop to consider that, if a Godzilla anime was a good idea, it would have already been done by now?
Also, a Godzilla FPS would only be good if it was made up of both FPS levels with a human character and third person beat em' up levels with Godzilla, like the 2005 King Kong game. In fact, that might make a good video game adaptation of Godzilla 2014, depending on whether there are a good number of action scenes with Aaron-Taylor Johnson's character, and also relatively small monsters that are not immune to gunfire and/or human antagonists (for example, if M.U.TO. was a malevolent organization that came into conflict with the protagonists).

you watched the "heavily edited" american version of Gojira, namely Godzilla king Of The Monsters. in the origional gojira he was 50 meters tall, not even close to 400 feet. however marvels godzilla was just barely short of 500 feet so i do agree that godzilla will be 5-600 feet tall.
Akio123Godzilla 2014 ForumWhat would you prefer Godzilla as?Dec 23, 2013Reply
I believe all adaptations of Godzilla are great, for each one means something to an individual. Personally, I've never been too fond of Godzilla being a, "Hero". Kinda silly and corny for my taste. I in fact, did love him as a villian(Which he was in the original). Overall I think him being an anti hero or a, "Force of nature" is the coolest because it is highly believeable. I see Godzilla as an actual animal. Not one with a lust to bring death, and not one with King Kong-like intellect that understands humans and wants to save them because he, "cares" lol. I picture Godzilla as a hurricane. He is so massive and so powerful. Destruction isn't what he chooses..Its just his nature. As I said, I picture him as an actual animal. i hope he is this way in the new film.
master_of_magnetism1993Godzilla 2014 Forum2014 Godzilla's height? Again?Dec 23, 2013Reply
Oh, Christ. I feel like an idiot. But the height is still similar. And if that's the height of an older form of Godzilla, then the new one will be bigger than that. I still think the evidence all points to him being at least 600 feet. I mean, I just watched the original "Godzilla" the other night, and they flat-out say he's over 400 feet tall, and apparently that was the smallest size of him from the Japanese series.
