InstinctiveGigan
MemberMothra LarvaeDec-24-2013 2:37 AMIf you guys haven't figured it out yet, I happen to be a huge fan of Gigan; he's my second favorite monster next to Godzilla. The idea of a giant monster made entirely of blades and armor is just unbelievably beastly to me. I mean look at this guy, just look at him.
I happen to believe if the 2014 movie franchise should go the route of including more Toho monsters Gigan should be one of the considered monsters. But in addition, I think his overall origin story needs changes. (This is getting into fanfic territory, I'm pointing this out cuz I do not like fanfics personally, but I'd like you to please hear me out regardless). If you have patience and time, I implore you to read my thoughts on what a rebooted Gigan would be like.
2014 Gigan
Origin:
I never liked the idea of Gigan being controlled sort of like a weapon. Imagine this, instead of being an alien kaiju controlled by lamer aliens, Gigan is another creature created by the atom bomb that comes out more deformed and useless than Godzilla, instead of getting rid of him the government decides to use him to their liking, a sort of jaeger-kaiju. They experiment on him and make him a little less deformed, give him sharp equipment and armor and give him a computer brain they're able to control. After giving him enough weapons and security they release Gigan and test him out.
Due to an error, however, Gigan's real brain kicks in and tries to regain it's own conciousness, but the goverment had removed all essential stuff from his brain that allows free will. So instead, Gigan's brain tries to pick a specific protocol/directive already given to him that would best suit him to survive on his own. The protocol his brain picks is the one that gives him commands to kill-on-site.
Thanks to this, Gigan is now in an eternal KILL MODE that inhibits him to have only one goal on his mind; kill everything in site, and uses all of his intelligence to meet that very goal (he thinks it's his only way of survival and it's necessary everything that moves must be exterminated for his own good). Obviously the goverment realize they've created a monster worse than Godzilla and without any way to shut Gigan off, thanks to his brain deleting every other protocol but the one he chose, Godzilla is the only one that can stop him.
Weapons/Abilities:
Hook Bladed Arms: Gigan is given several protocols and weaponry but due to man-made missiles being useless against Godzilla they give Gigan weapons based solely on blade-like weaponry made of material that can pierce Godzilla's skin with enough force/speed. The hook blades are unbreakable and, combined with Gigan's strength, can do devestating damage.
Visor: Gigan no longer has the ability to use a laser beam to make the film more realistic (even though this crap already sounds super unrealistic but whatever). Instead, implemented in his visor is a targeting system for his long range weapons, heat seeking vision, night vision, radar, etc. (Gigan also has connections to commands given by the U.S. military, since the original use for Gigan was to be a weapon, any attack the military makes against him he will already know about)
Computer-like intelligence: The goverment gave Gigan computer-like intelligence for the sake of being able to control him as easily as any of us control what our desktop does. However, once Gigan gained his own intelligence this decision backfired massively. Gigan now thinks like a super computer and uses his own instinctive intelligence in addition. Gigan's decisions are all about strategy and scenarios best suited to get the job done, making him the perfect assassin.
Chest Buzzsaw: Like the original, Gigan has a long chainsaw that vertically follows his chest. With the same material as his blades, the saw can cut through anything easily at the immense speeds his mechanisms allow the buzzsaw to go.
Super-strength: Like Godzilla, even for his size Gigan has incredible strength. This allows for massive damage with both blade and brawler attacks.
Blade missiles/grappling hooks: Made from the same material from his blades Gigan possesses missiles that launch toward a target and, like a shot gun shell, explodes with great force and releases several sharp projectiles all around (Gigan can choose when to explode the missile so if he chooses to strategize by leaving a missile lodged in Godzilla and exploding it later at a more convenient time, he can). Gigan also possesses grappling hooks that can pull Godzilla toward him that have chains made from the same, unbreakable material; so Godzilla will find it difficult to break the chains.
Durability/Armor: The cyborg part of Gigan can obviously not regenerate but the kaiju part of him can. He has similiar healing abilities to that of Godzilla and can take massive damage. But even though his cyborg parts can't grow back they were built to handle everything Godzilla throws at him; including his strength and atomic breath. This deadly combination of unbreakable armor and unstoppable healing makes his durability all the more impressive.
*To add further realism this Gigan cannot fly or even glide, the fins on his back are merely made to improve his speed*
Well it's official, I have no life. That's my version of a rebooted Gigan. Give me some feedback guys, if you read the whole thing, I really appreciate your patience. And I'd also like all of you to give me YOUR rebooted, Legendary versions of your favorite TOHO monsters. We should make this a thing, it'd be awesome!
