About Goku and Hulk I remember seeing an article saying Goku and Hulk can be stronger then Godzilla. Yet I still beleive he can crush all of their bones beneath his feet so.

I think godzilla is obviously six thousand ft tall because how else would he arm wrestle batman and popeye at the same time.

The proof is in the trailer, like, when the commander guy starts talking, he blinks like, three times, and says no words with more than four sylables. I mean, its obvious guys, c'mon. The proof is right there.

Also Elvis and Michael Jackson are both alive and going to make their comeback in this film, don't believe me, watcht he trailer. Anguirus' roar proves it.

I'm choosing to take Edward's words at face value, that he is only slightly bigger. Why would he say that if it wasn't true? You think "Oh yeah, slightly bigger means TWICE HIS PREVIOUS HEIGHTS!"; c'mon people, be realistic.

His word has a lot more value in my opinion than wild fan speculation.

You're agrument against kyero is irrelevant as size doesnt necessarily have anything to do with the amount of radiation he gives off or his resistance to conventional weapondry. His skin could just have an incredible thickness that doesn't mean he needs to be +200 feet on any Godzilla incarnation so far.

By that logic if you made a tank as big as a battleship it could just withstand anything when in actuality it'd just be a bigger target.

I'm going by what the director said with being slightly taller, and anything over 500 feet is just going overboard

GODZILLA HIMSELFGodzilla 2014 Forum2014 Godzilla's height? Again?

the new godzilla will have to be above 500 feet/150 meters because thats how tall marvels godzilla was. however, i see 600 as the absolute limit. for those wo thinck that the shot with the building proves he is biggger than that, you are mistaken. it only looks like he is even with the building because the camera is pointed down at an angle and is closer to the builduing than to godzilla. this is an illusion, and coupled with the fact that you cannot see him in the wide shot, it proves that  he will be noticabbly shorter than that building. also, between 5-600 feet is a good size because it is indeed bigger than any incarnation so far, and yet it still allows him to hide in many areas. 800 feet would be cool, but woudnt really be the best for the tone of THIS movie. later on in the series, who knows?

And i agree also. I am no child and i been saying all along that the halo jump footage is the freaking clue. And i took photography in college and know what angles are and depth of field and the whole nine yards. And that footage speaks for itself. You want to make people believe that he is the absolute wrath of GOD. I don't think a Godzilla that has to peek around most of the buildings would come off as believable. but a Godzilla large enough to topple any structure on earth, is a different story all together.

I'd like for there to be an actual explanation for how this could happen, just for the sake of the 'man humbled by nature' theme of the movie. There's been other times that the laws of physics had to be amended in human history, this would be a graphic b-slap to mankind's arrogance...

If it is explained, I want it to be explained as if those who give the explaination aren't too sure. Mystery is much better, and will hold a creepy realistic tone

One of the things that torpedoed the Heisei series is that it over-explained things, sometimes even going as far as force-feeding the audience two explainations for a single thing.

I think it'd be creepier and more mysterious to leave things like that fairly vague. Afterall, the idea is that a creature like Godzilla existing should defy logic and present scientific understanding. That's one of the best things about Godzilla

G. H. (Gman)Godzilla 2014 ForumWhat can kill Godzilla? Honest question.

@Linkzilla

The beating heart means Godzilla will never die-- Period. It doesn't mean he'll regenerate. It doesn't insinuate anything about G-Cells, regenerative powers, growing an entire body back from nothing...etc... It's simply a visual metaphore that as long as conflict in humanity remains, so will he. It was an artistic decision, nothing more.

Besides we don't know how Godzilla returned in GMK and we're not supposed to. No character in the movie tries to understand or explain it and there's nothing to assume he grew back from simple cells in it. He simply exists and we don't know how. That's the point. The mystery of Godzilla is part of the horror and the enigma behind the creature.

Even in the original movie they only had theroies instead of absolute answers. This was done on purpose, in both movies, to leave the mystical nature of Godzilla ambiguous. Giving him an absolute explaination takes that mystery away from Godzilla-- as a character.

And yes the Showa Godzilla did recover from nasty wounds, like any animal would. That doesn't mean he has regenerative powers. Godzilla's skelo-hand in vs. Hedorah didn't heal immediately and neither did his eye. Remember, the Showa movies are only loosely connected. They never bothered to try and connect them too closely so the filmmakers probably never thought about how his wounds healed from movie-to-movie. The idea of regenerative powers wasn't brought up until screenwriter Kazuki Omori entered the Heisei seres.

im sure there will be some vauge explenation, nothing too comlex or else it becomes corny. most details of his origins should be kept a mystery so that the focus is more on whats going on, and not on what has already happened.

I think it will be explained somehow, because to make it believable you must explain how it exists.

InstinctiveGiganGodzilla 2014 ForumMy Version of a Legendary Gigan (2014)

@COOLGODZILLA1234 I'm glad you made that point, since I made it very unclear. The government didn't intentionally create Gigan, he was just another monster created by radiation just like Godzilla. But unlike Godzilla who turned into a giant, invincible behemoth Gigan turned into a completely deformed abomination; like a baby out of it's mother's womb, weak and just waiting to die. Instead of letting Gigan die, however, the goverment (or MUTO but I can't really say since we have no idea who or what MUTO does) decides to make him into the ultimate weapon against Godzilla. I'm sure that their top scientists assured them that Gigan could not do crap (maybe cuz they believe his brain was underdeveloped or Gigan just wasn't intelligent enough to turn against them, etc.), and that weaponizing him would not backfire.

I came up with this stuff in like less than an hour so forgive me if it's full of holes. Lol

I still maintain that people would definitely know that oxygen removed from water =/= disintegration; it's very basic...H2O...remove O....

On the other hand, the basic origin story should remain intact. I mean, why change something that works?

@GMAN2887 "...or some people just take the heart thing too literally and have no concept of thematic symbolism. But hey, I guess everyone feels like they need an explaination for everything."

Okay, so if showing his still beating heart didn't mean he's going to come back, what does it mean? And if he can't regenerate, how did he come back from being supposedly dissolved by the Oxygen Destroyer if he didn't grow back from a few surviving cells? I'm pretty sure GMK Godzilla just has very slow regeneration, so that he can be defeated for a while, but he will always come back.

I also recall Showa Godzilla recovering from some pretty nasty wounds, including having his hand skeletonized, in just a few minutes.

GoGoGodzilla65Godzilla ForumWhat Made You a Godzilla Fan?

I was a kid about 5 or 6, I was playing outside when my dad called me in the house, I thought I was in trouble or something.  He directed me to the TV and said "there's a movie on for you!"  On the TV was a little boy playing with a gadget, using his imagination, dialing in to some place called "monster land" and suddenly the boy was there.  Giant insects, bully monsters, baby Godzilla (as I came to call him), and of course, the star of them all, Big G himself. From that point on, I was hooked.  Over the years, I came to dismiss Godzilla's Revenge as a series "filler" with all the stock footage and such and as I said in another post, I dont much care for the cuddly kid friendly Godzilla in this flick.  But I was a small kid then and I related to the boy in the film.  At that age it was magic.

Thank you for once again proving Kyero wrong, Master! Kyeriro acts like he is the only one who has read Gareth Edwards interview. By saying "just a bit" taller than any other Godzilla he was obviously being vague. Kyero is apparently so dead set on Godzilla being short that he can't see the proof in front of his face. And no, Kyero, Godzilla is close to the top of the 555 building and he is almost as tall as it. These so called "camera angles" you keep talking about only prove you wrong. Unless the studio puts out an actual size out that says he is around 120-140 meters, then you are wrong! So shut up and quit wishing for Godzilla to be short!

@ZODGILLA I apologize, I thought that by "more sophisticated," you meant more intelligent, not more knowledgeable, which they definitely are. However, I still say that the average moviegoer wouldn't know what would happen if you removed oxygen from water- being mutated by radiation may be out, but I think they'd still be willing to accept that. Speaking of which I wonder if they're going to keep the same origin story for Godzilla?

Also, am I the only one who's noticed the link posted by Sontzu claiming to be Godzilla 2014 on torrent? I'm assuming it's either a virus or a shock site, so why hasn't it been removed by now?

Guys, being part of a mood piece teaser does not make its appearance in the movie impossible. They can always alter it slightly. In fact, all of the evidence seems to line up perfectly pointing to this thing as the 8-legged muto.

i think both sides of this argument are making good points and a lot what you are saying is true but neither of you are right. audiences are more sophisticated today than they were in 54, but that doesnt mean its common knowledge to know what would happen if you remove oxygen from water. that being said, i really doubt the oxygen destroyer will be in this film. why cause so much more death to kill off godzilla when you can just keep him alive and hope a sequel in greenlit.

Reply
ZodgillaGodzilla 2014 Forum"Damaged Godzilla" Theory

@Linkzilla and Dinoboy22: I gotta disagree with you guys on the audience mentality thing. You don't have to be a science fan to know that removing oxygen from water won't destroy anything; that's grade-school science...

Yes, moviegoers ARE alot more knowledgable now than in the 1950s. Take a look at some of the criticisms of modern scifi movies compared to what filmmakers could get past audiences in the 50s...

If there is an oxygen destroyer in this movie, it would asphyxiate Godzilla, as opposed to disintegrating him, which would be alot more plausible...

We now live in a much more tech-savvy society. In a day and age when kids can do computer programming and people walk around with a phone that's actually a mini PC in their pockets, the general public isn't nearly as 'sci-gullible' as in the past. Even the idea that radioactivity can mutate a living organism into something monstrous is laughed at nowadays, whereas in past decades, people bought into it easily...

Just my .02
