Gojiranut, The film wasn't about Godzilla striking back against the thing that created him, but rather the age old "Nature strikes back" trope. Also, The point of the monster was the create a "personified" Hiroshima bomb, to show the horrors of nuclear weapons in a more..easily digested way. Also, the film would be pretty boring if it was Godzilla attacking a nuke.
Now, as for my opinions on the movie? It's pretty excellent, it has a slow, plodding & dreadful pace and atmopshere that really captures the mood they where after. The soundtrack? sublime. Sure, the suit does a look a little goofy at times, but at it's core it's a very dark & somewhat disturbing film. It's the one Godzilla movie I would show in college Film class, it's pretty much the finest film in the genre.
I don't care if it does well, I don't care if the critics bash it & I don't care if it never gets a sequel. As long as I like it none of that matters to me. As long as the movie is everything I hoped for I couldn't care less about how "movie critics" feel about it, how much or little money it made or how many sequels it gets.
I dont really care if Godzilla reaches number 1 or anything,or beats transformers.
as long as Godzilla Succeeds gets good reviews, ratings, and makes enough money to get 2 sequels.
thats all I care about.
@MikeyNamez
I never, ever, ever said that Hunger Games: Catching Fire was a good movie because it made a lot of money, nor would I ever make such a claim. I said it was a more highly anticipated movie than Godzilla and the numbers back that up. Read next time before you jump to conclusions.

I love Pacific Rim, more than Gravity actually, and I'll enjoy for years to come more than Gravity. But Pacific Rim the best movie of 2013? Come on. It's unique, it's fun, it's original, but it still has a large set of flaws that keep it from stacking up to movies like Gravity, Captain Philips, American Hustle...etc...
Pacific Rim is my favorite movie of the year. But I say that fulling accepting its faults and understanding it's also not the best of the year.
Personally, and I know I'm probably in the minority in this, I actually enjoyed the American version more. The narration but Raymond burr and way the movie was paced made it seem like you were really listening to a news broadcast, or reading an article about it with images in the back. While the main characters, and love triangle in the Japanese 1 were glossed over after watching the Japanese version I didn't find that it added much. Not to say it was bad, just that I preferred the American version, I still enjoy and fnd the Japanese 1 very good.
Transformers movies, despite getting bad reviews do very well in the box office. Transformers will do better along with spiderman 2, and the x men movie that are all coming out around Godzilla
This was already posted by InstinctiveGigan, in this topic here. It was confirmed a fan-made image. Gonna lock this topic to prevent repeat discussion.
In my opinion, Godzilla tramples those tin-cans! I despise the Transformers movies by Micheal Bay (he ruined the name, just like ronald Emmerich with Godzilla).
However, with the appearance of the Dinobots in the next Transformers movie, I think TF4 is going to do very well.
You fanboys need to grow up and open your eyes,There are lot of people that never know or watch Godzilla.. You have to repect other..There are certain film that teally are amazing,like hunger games or gravity..Godzilla is not the only one big blockbuster on 2014 is it? Most of people are looking forward for some movies that already have name and show their fangs in the box office.. But still,Godzilla will be the one that top it all
I agree with DC67. The younger set and even the majority of the older crowd (50+) have no interest in Godzilla. One great move they made and i think will be a MAJOR roll in helping this be a success is Bryan Cranston. All of the Breaking Bad fans will surely want to know what he is up to after the show ended and with this being his first role it will attract alot of people that normally wouldn't see it.
"WHAT IS THERE OPINION?"
That makes no sense you know. 'There' is most commonly used to describe location, or can also be used to indicate the fact that you're talking about something such as I do very shortly below. 'Their' is used to describe other people. 'They're' is a combination of "There Are".
What were you trying to say?
Either way, there is zero confirmation that the MUTOs can combine in any way, shape, or form. The only information on MUTO we have is that one has eight leges and another has wings. That's it. End of list.
There is no opinion to be had on the matter. Those are the facts.
If you are trying to say that the MUTO creatures can combine, then that is your opinion which, might I add, is one based on nothing more than false information and fan speculation that was taken as fact by people who are ignorant and who don't know how to do research or pay attention to something called a 'source'. In no way does that mean that it is correct in any way. In fact, it just solidifies the fact that you have no idea what you're talking about if you do in fact mean to tell us that the MUTO creatures can combine.
It's entirely untrue and baseless. No facts. No quotes. No sources. Nothing.
Give it up alredy. The MUTO creatures do not combine.
Ooo! Komodo's are big, nasty and voracious...I'd accept that origin.
You have to factor in that not everyone's a fan of G. I'm a child of the 70's, and here in the SF Bay Area the films were a staple of Creature Features and the Chiller Diller Saturday matinees (along with the orginal Ultraman) and this is why I'm looking forward to this film; nostalgia. But to the modern, younger set, I can see why there isn't a huge buzz for it. I for one am grateful that it was made!
Transformers sucks! and michael bay sucks too! yeah, the music and the fight scenes are epic, but you have to wait an entire hour of cliche drama, boring history, and unfunny forced jokes to see the fights.
@GMAN2887 ... so your saying just because it made alot of money its a good movie? Thats some backwards logic if you ask me.
Here are some examples of other movies that were terrible but made a ton of money.
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen
Box Office: $607.7 Million
The Da Vinci Code
Box Office: $758.2 Million
Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End
Box Office: $961 Million
... And most people are mindless drones these days so of corse a Third Hunger Games will be more anticapated then the first Godzilla. Sequals always do better but doesnt mean it will be any good.
One of the best, I agree. But I still think Pacific Rim brought it home for best movie of 2013. Visuals, enjoyment and uniqueness factors were all there. I'm expecting Godzilla to have that kind of impact on people this year as well, but hopefully it'll gross more here in North America, since it's an established franchise.
Of course, Godzilla! NO CONTEST.
I'm going to see it in 2D because 3D hurts my eyes. I don't know if I'm just sensitive to the technology or what, but I can't watch 3D movies without getting sick to my stomach.
@MikeyNamez
You're entitled to your opinion about The Hunger Games movies, but more anticipated? The second movie made $832.7 million worldwide and was the highest grossing domestic movie of 2013-- beating out Iron Man 3 domestically, which was the #1 highest grossing film worldwide. I'm pretty sure you won't get much more anticipated than that, regardless of how you feel about the movies.
Lets not joke ourselves. Many, many, many more people are anticipating the third Hunger Games than are anticipating Godzilla.
@Daco187Um
Entertainment Weekly is just one entertainment magazine. Empire is a more reliable one and it's mentioned Godzilla in more than one issue. I'd stick to that if you want something more substantial.
That said, and off topic, Gravity is, at the very least, one of the best movies of 2013. Easily...
i get what hes trying to say, even if they were similar to destroyah(and i have made discussions about this in the past) i doubt that they will be combining
Unless Legendary acquires the rights to the other Toho monsters, we will never see them in the Legendary Pictures lineup.Each individual Toho monster has its own licenses that Legendary must purchase in order to use them in their films, and I don't see that happeneing.
And no, Mechagodzilla will not be in the 2014 movie. And again, unless the rights to the mechanical Godzilal duplicate are purchased, it will not be in the sequel either.
Honestly speaking, I don't want it to happen. Legendary is a powerhouse in the movie industry today, and if they can't come up with their own unique monsters and stories to throw against Godzilla, then they don't deserve to make another movie.
Toho monsters are near to all of our hearts, but they have no place in this new American Franchise. They're Toho monsters, not Legendary Pictures monsters. This new Godzilla is a product of Legendary Pictures, and it should stay taht way.
im gonna watch it in 2D
@CHRIS PICARD
Thanks for your feedback!
The open world concept sounds great, but I want Ford Brody's specific storyline to be Battlefield style so you can interact with the environment like blow up parts of buildings, etc. There was an idea of a part where Godzilla is attacking Hawaii and you are controling an Apache Helicopter and firing missiles at him with other teammates controlling the same vehicle. Godzilla's model would also react to being hit like roaring in pain or in anger. Another way he would react was he would lock-on to you and start firing his Atomic Breath. There will be more details on Godzilla's Mechanics in "Part 2" of this discussion.
i want to say its a possibility for other toho monsters to come in. i dont really think mechagodzilla will be in it though. the way that this godzilla is built wouldnt really look good in robot form
I like the idea. I've always thought a Godzilla game, from the POV of a soldier would be neat. More so, I'd like to see a GTA V style, open world map, with various locations you would need to get to in order to somehow stop Godzilla and whatever Monsters infest the city. The open world concept would be neat, and a random action oriented Godzilla would add to the realism. Imagine flying a helicopter and seeing Godzilla behind a mountain, have his atomic breathe light up the sky and knock your chopper out ofthe sky. Or trying to sneak through streets and buildings and seeing Godzilla's tail, or feet crush nearby structures.
I like this game idea, but I would really hope an open world concept would be implemented. Great thread!
@MATTZILLA115
Hey Matt! Yes, I am 14 going on 15 in a couple months. I still am looking into a college that will help me pursue my future game design career.
LOL @ Hunger Games 3 being on the list. 100% sure i could make a movie in my basement that would be better and more anticipated than that.
No offense but this thread makes less than no sense.
Everyone and Magazine is entitled to an opinion. But, if you look at a number of other sites, they have Godzilla pretty high up on their list for most-anticipated films of 2014.
Well jus reminds me too much of Godzilla vs Destroyah but gotta watch to review 4 myself
Hahaha great fun!
Thanks King_Of_Zombies :D
with the holes it looks like pacific rim
If none of you guys knew, the word "Chibi" means "Midget" in Japan. So im not saying its gonna be stupid, but if you want the damaged godzilla then i believe hes not going to be 6 inches, and probably like 1.5 inches. So keep that in mind if you want a deluxe sized godzilla figure
This too is my favorite. It wasnt the first Godzilla movie I saw, but i did eventually own it on vhs. Watched it soooo many times the tape got ruined, but as mentioned above it was thee darkest godzilla movie I have ever seen. As a kid I was terrified. His roar in this film was the most intimidating and terrifying of all the series to follow. The american title was rightfully titled "King of the Monsters".
In my list, this is number 1!!
Okay iI get it now. In that case keep the gun because in would make sense.
I want the song In The End by Blackveilbirdes because of the mood of how the trailer was it seems perfect
@GOJIRA2K @JUDGEBAGGINS The reason why he has a gun is because they dont know what their up against. I forgot to say that they receive intel that San Francisco was attacked by something massive.
That actually would make sense. Also, when you think about it, people would be in a panic phase if something like this happened. When Ford and his squadmates would try to rescue survivors, there would be some that would attack them, possibly armed. I think that you have some really cool ideas. Keep it up!
