MemberMothra LarvaeJan-11-2014 6:26 AMi think it will be second or third on the domestic(US) and the UK box office, possibly losing to either TASM 2 or X-MEN:DoFP, however i due belive it kill the international box office, as you guys already know that godzilla is a known name everywhere, and the movie will be released on a international scale.

MemberMothra LarvaeJan-11-2014 10:17 AMFor America's number 1 Box Office movie of 2014, probably not. But, on a Global Scale, Godzilla will be a Box office success and worldwide it will be the number 1 box office movie of 2014.

MemberMothra LarvaeJan-11-2014 10:42 AMI think especially in Asia and maybe in Europe it will be successful. It was the same with Pacific Rim.

MemberMothra LarvaeJan-11-2014 11:21 AMWhen we are talking GODZIILA, we are NOT talking Pacific Rim or Avatar. We are talking about a GLOBAL ICON and a country's cinema mascot. A character who has been around for 60 years. Even if this movie is terrible, it will be a big hit.

MemberMothra LarvaeJan-11-2014 11:39 AMConsidering the teaser trailer received over 11 million views on youtube in the first 3 days I think there is a very good chance of this being successful. Godzilla is near the top of many Most Anticipated movie lists, evening winning the award for most anticipated film on many lists. Many people remember Godzilla and the old, and yes sometimes corny, movies and the idea of seeing a real American made one with spetacular effects, I feel, will appeal to many people. I remember the theaters being packed when Cloverfield came out and many people anticipating the monster being Godzilla... with this for sure being the King of the Monsters the turnout should be even better.

MemberMothra LarvaeJan-11-2014 1:10 PMHard to say, Godzilla movies don't have a great track record in terms of making money. Normally they can get away with this because they're so cheap to make and the merchandising does well.
With something of this budget though, if it flops it's going to flop hard. I hope it's more successful in the States than Pacific Rim was.

MemberMothra LarvaeJan-11-2014 1:27 PMi hope godzilla does well over there in the states and here in britain, however it will do better than pacific rim because of the name, however warner bros has make the marketing really good.

MemberMothra LarvaeJan-11-2014 1:34 PMso far the teaser has been good, anyone i know who has watched it say it looks epic. also godzilla has no major competition the first week it is released so the film does have some breathing space. And if you check out the the international release dates http://www.godzillamovie.com/releasedates/ you will see that it is released around the same time, which is something that i haven't seen done by for any other movie.

MemberMothra LarvaeJan-11-2014 2:22 PMThis is going to sound harsh and really mean to my fellow fans and I will state it is not my intention.
If this film does well its going to be because of the cast. People are going to flock to see Breaking Bad's star or as some girls I've heard say "that sexy guy from kickass".
As mean as that sounds, even though godzilla is a global icon, it isn't a global icon that is seen with a very flattering light and in this day in age actors put asses in seats, not monsters.
How else do you explain the god awful transformer films doing so well?

MemberMothra LarvaeJan-11-2014 2:34 PM@Akagi, That also explains with Pacific Rim did so poorly.
It's hard, it's pessimistic, and it might not be too far from the truth.

MemberMothra LarvaeJan-11-2014 2:35 PMAKAGI, fair point, the kind of answer i was looking for, but places like asia won't really care about the cast, godzilla is still a big name over there, including hong kong and japan.
