Hello everybody! Welcome to Part Two of the Unique Godzilla Game Idea! In Part One of this discussion, I talked about Ford Brody's side of the story, now I will talk about Godzilla's side.
First off, lets begin with the mechanics of Godzilla. In the game, you are able to control Godzilla's movement, make him roar, and fire his Atomic Breath. In other Godzilla Games (like Godzilla Destroy All Monsters, Godzilla: Save the Earth, and Godzilla: Unleashed), you can run and jump, but in this game you can not. A jumping Godzilla isn't realistic and due to his heavy weight, he can't run either. Although, you can make him move faster. Now for the view, there will be 2 views for Godzilla: First-Person and Third-Person, but both will be optional. The reason why there is a First-Person view is so you can look at the destruction you are causing through Godzilla's eyes. For gameplay, Godzilla's side is open-world, kind of like Jaws Unleashed (great game by the way). In Jaws Unleashed, the game expresses the open-world concept in a very unique way. You can do story missions or side-missions with the ability to explore the world the game has to offer, while destroying things of course.
I will now give you a brief synopsis of the first mission for Godzilla's story, the prologue. The reason for the prologue is so you can get a grasp on the controls and also to get an idea of what you will do for future missions. The prologue will also be depicted in Black and White because the prologue takes place in 1954, where the first Godzilla attack began. The prologue will begin with a cutscene showing a nuclear explosion in the Pacific Ocean. It also shows a hot spot in the area, like something is being affected by the radiation. Another cutscene will show Odo Island and a massive creature terrorizing them. A picture of the 1954 Godzilla will show just like in the movie, where they are naming it Godzilla. After that, the screen will show an underwater shot with Godzilla waking up. Godzilla rises from the water and gives out a loud roar that alerts Japan. From this point in the game, you are able to control Godzilla. Right now, you can change your preffered view which can be changed later in the options menu. You must move towards Japan, which is your first objective. While moving towards Japan, you are intercepted by Military attacks from Battleships and Jets. You are able to fire your Atomic Breath at them or just destroy them with melee attacks. When you reach Japan, you will receive your first official objective stating: Wreck Havoc on Japan. You must now destroy what you can of Japan until the objective is complete. When you walk, you leave footprints in the cement due to your weight. Buildings can be destroyed in various ways depending on how you do it. If you take a swing at a Building it will leave a huge claw marking on it. If you fire your Atomic Breath at it, it will leave a huge gap in the building. Environmental hazards can be triggered, such as fires and explosions. For a little special event, if you find it, you will see a train railway. You can trigger the event by picking up the moving train with your mouth referencing the 1954 scene. After you have destroyed most of Japan, a cutscene will trigger. It shows Godzilla returning to the Pacific, while the camera angle turns showing the destruction you have caused. Another quick cutscene will appear, showing Dr. Serizawa underwater with the Oxygen Destroyer. The scene shows the Oxygen Destroyer being triggered following Godzilla roaring his last roar as he dies, with nothing left in flesh. The screen then goes black, and you will hear the 2014 Godzilla roar followed by the transition of the Godzilla Logo. You have now completed the prologue.
I know it sounds short, but prologues are usually short. They are just so you can get an understanding of the storyline and the controls. Also, when you complete Godzilla's story, you will unlock Free-Roam along with other various unlocks I will explain. You can unlock various Godzilla model skins from previous movies from 1954-2014 to play as. If your gonna ask, yes, ZILLA WILL BE INCLUDED. Personally, I didnt like the 98 film much either, but he would still be a good addition. You can also unlock soundtracks to listen to in the menu or while playing Free-Roam.
What do YOU guys think? Do you like the idea of prologue, Free-Roam, or unlocks, etc. Let me know in the comments section below. I am very eager to see your thoughts. See ya!

MemberMothra LarvaeJan-11-2014 3:54 PMNot too bad.
However, I wish to suggest that Godzilla's controls be a little more varied and a little more intimate for the players. Roaring, moving, attacking and atomic breath are all well and good, but I think there can be a little more to it.
Depending on the platform and manner of release, you could trigger individual claw attacks from both the left and right sides. A low tail sweep, and a higher tail whip if other Kaiju make appearances or you just want to bash the top of a building off. Perhaps a stomping attack as well to shake the ground and rattle the foundations of nearby buildings, with two or three stomps being enough to bring medium sized buildings tumbling down.
I'd also suggest perhaps giving his roar different effects depending on how hard the button is pressed and/or how long it's held down. For instance, holding down the roar button increases the duration of the roar and also causes a small tremor in the ground when held down long enough (perhaps one full second or more) shaking the camera and causing dust to shake loose from buildings and fallen debris within a certain distance to perhaps tilt to one side. Also, if the roar is held down and causes the tremor, any nearby building glass could shatter as well from the sheer decible level.
These kinds of small atmospheric and environmental mechanics will greatly enhance immersion in the game and keep the entertainment value high through extended play. When playing games that have a free roam option, I have often found that the best way to stay entertained is to have varied and immersive options to explore that don't necessarily have to do with storyline. For instance, making an achievment for his roar by shattering a high number of windows or perhaps using his stomp attack to topple the tallest building in a given city as opposed to just demolishing it with his claws and tail.
For other small details, every footstep could cause a minor tremor and give the camera the slightest of shakes. Nothing that will jar the player of course, but enough to be noticeable and give the feeling of weight and power. Godzilla's claw attacks and footprints could remain in teh environment indefinitely, as opposed to slowly disappearing. That would greatly annoy most players, I can guarantee. Other things would be when Godzilla uses his atomic breath, anything that is not directly caught in the blast but is never the less in its pathway could give off smoke from the excess heat that passed by for a few seconds before the smoke disappears.
Just a few little suggestions I have for you.
In regards to the prologue you provided, I think it's pretty well done but I have a suggestion: Make it player driven.
When playing as Godzilla in 1954, give them the option of following the traditional Godzilla experience where he dies by the Oxygen Destroyer, and then give them an option to where they can avoid the effect and survive to stomp Tokyo another day which leads to an alternate storyline entirely.
Perhaps that's a bit ambitious, but it's all food for thought and you don't have to do it if you'd rather not. Just trying to give options and increase the pallet that you're working with. I'm no game designer, but if I can support the development of such a game then I'll do so with all the creativity I have.

MemberMothra LarvaeJan-11-2014 4:17 PMYou should actually make this game and release this to the public or send the idea to a game designer so he can make the game.

Loving Your Ideas!
@GOJIRA2K
I want to make it myself as a non-profit game.

MemberMothra LarvaeJan-11-2014 6:17 PMDefinitely keep it and make it for non-profit.
Sending the game idea out to others is a recipe for disaster. Without the proper protections in place, you're just begging for whomever you send the game to to steal the idea and sell the game as their own without any legal repercussions because I guarantee they'll immediately set out for permission from Toho and a copyright to the game and all of its content before you can fight back.
If you ever plan to make a game using your own software and such, protect yourself first and foremost. Get a copyright in place, and I don't mean just typing out and placing the symbol on it. That only goes so far. Hvaing a hard copy print out of the copyright striaght from court is the best protection you could ask for no matter what your game is or how small it may be compared to big name franchises. A copyright is not free, but it's invaluable if you ever plan to turn a profit as a game designer in the future.
