i will probably get one but, what i am really going to get is a godzilla 2014 x plus figure, if it comes out.
Biollante and Destroyah. Destroyah's horn is so OP and Biollante is practically an organic tank.
its the year of godzilla, yes it will.
Considering the teaser trailer received over 11 million views on youtube in the first 3 days I think there is a very good chance of this being successful. Godzilla is near the top of many Most Anticipated movie lists, evening winning the award for most anticipated film on many lists. Many people remember Godzilla and the old, and yes sometimes corny, movies and the idea of seeing a real American made one with spetacular effects, I feel, will appeal to many people. I remember the theaters being packed when Cloverfield came out and many people anticipating the monster being Godzilla... with this for sure being the King of the Monsters the turnout should be even better.
The first time I heard the name Godzilla was when I was a little kid, either 4 or 5, back in the early 90's. I was watching cartoons one day and I remember it was my first time seeing Scooby Doo, The Flintstones, The Jetsons, and then it was my first time seeing Godzilla who was this giant fire breathing dinosaur who protected the people on this boat and had a sidekick named Godzookie. That cartoon was my first time hearing of and seeing Godzilla... a year or two later when we moved I went to the video store and rented my first ever film- Godzilla vs. Mothra (the original one). From then on I was hooked,
When we are talking GODZIILA, we are NOT talking Pacific Rim or Avatar. We are talking about a GLOBAL ICON and a country's cinema mascot. A character who has been around for 60 years. Even if this movie is terrible, it will be a big hit.
I still get chills when I jump off that plane with Aaron Taylor Johnson and see Godzilla aswe approach our destination...
Just saw some of the movies in the TV in the afternoon. It was son of Godzilla and next week there was Destroy all monsters.
I really enjoyed this Monster Fights and was I liked the costumes. They showed all the movies of the Showa Series, really cool.
it's interesting because I don't actually know when I first heard Godzilla's name. I know I was conscious of him when the 1998 US version came out so I can only presume that he is so deeply engrained in popular culture that I couldn't help but know about him. Maybe games like Rampage were responsible, who knows?
The Monster attacking the train is clearly not Godzilla. It may be one of the Mutos, but I haven't seen the airport trailer, so I can't make a comparsion.
Or it is another monster, we haven't heard of yet. You never know.
The new plot could be totaly different, if even a this lizard centipede monster is removed from the movie.
It doesen't sound like a bad plot, but I think it may be a little bit yucky, have this mutos lay their eggs inside Godzilla. Just my opinion.
I watched the 1998 movie religiously when I was very small. Then, my awesome parents showed me the Toho flicks, and it all started from there. Now, I know more about Godzilla and co. more than anyone in my family and in school. :)
I think especially in Asia and maybe in Europe it will be successful. It was the same with Pacific Rim.
I agree with the Muto theory. The texture is completely different to Goji's, and the overall shape of the head resembles the fan-sketches of the Muto.
Hey guys sorry it took so long for me to come back. It seems I have enough positive comments to make this happen so I am going to post the first discussion on Gojira (1954) later today. Sadly, I havent seen all of the Japanese and American versions of some of the films, but I will to try talk about those differences. It will be a new thread per movie because some people might be talking about the former movie after I post the newer movie discussion and it would get kind of confusing.
I think I might do the 98 movie but we'll ee when we get there. Tune in for the discussion later today!
When I first heard the name Godzilla was the 1998 one, but then I moved on to well, the Japanese version of him in the movie, Godzilla vs King Kong and I was hooked on Japanese version from then on.
For America's number 1 Box Office movie of 2014, probably not. But, on a Global Scale, Godzilla will be a Box office success and worldwide it will be the number 1 box office movie of 2014.
age 1, my uncles showed me the oorigional, the best part is that i can still remember the event vaugly. after i saw the movie, it sort of burned into my brain.
It was Christmas and me and my sister were opening presents and my Dad turns on GMK and fast forward seven years and now I own everysingle Godzilla movie and almost every monsters action figure.
When I was two, my Mom and Dad were watching Godzilla 2000, and I when I went into the living room, my eyes lit up. I have been a Godzilla purist ever since. I am 13 now, and I know more about Godzilla than anyone in my school by far.
And that my friend, is our job to do...make it happen or make it even have a better success
1. thecost to toho monster rights beside godzilla is a lot, so they can't request too many monsters, 1 or 2 is fine
2. it is safer to make original monster, with some homage to toho's monster
3. i think getting mecha godzilla for either this movie or any possible sequels will ruin the tone of the movie, it will be the same reason why people complain about pacific rim.
if they did aquire rights to 1 or more toho monsters, i would just want king ghidorah, and i want a bad ass, pure evil ghidorah, or some homage to him, he is the arch enemy of godzilla after all.
i agree with gman2887 X-men: Days of Future Past will be competition, in the past xmen series has not got to the financial success that sam rami's spiderman or even transformers have had, however recently the xmen series has made good movies now, first class and wolveriene and this new movie looks like a really good movie, the amazing spiderman 2 may do well because of the name but 1. it doesnt look interesting to me 2. this movie is 2 weeks in front of godzilla, it would make most of its money by then.
My mom took me to see GODZILLA1985 in theaters when i was 4 the rest is history.
I see GODZILLA doing about as well as pacific rim wich is'nt bad,as for TF4 no no contest even with the dinobots in it(wich there is a five dinobot team but they replaced slag-stegosaurus and sludge-brontosaurus with a spinosaurus and a velociraptor-beastwars dinobot?).
im pretty sure the godzilla vs hedorah had influence in this movie, so if the mutos 'did' combine (not saying they will) to make a bigger monster, it will be like hedorah, not destroyah. im pretty sure the heisie series had no influence in this movie, the godzilla 2000 suit may have been influence for this new godzilla.
One atomic breath an the transfomers are destroyed. Transformers aren't good films in my opinion. Hopefully Godzilla will be more popular.
Amazing Spider-Man 2 already isn't tracking very well. Plus it's released two weeks before Godzilla. It's not the threat that people think it is. X-Men Days of Future Past on the other hand...
I'd like to chime in one last time here.
The Godzilla perspective is going to be tricky to get just right, so do think that one over very carefully before finalizing it in your process.
Anyway, my last thought about Brody's story would be this: Is it going to be more narrative driven or more action drive? Certain games seem to be drive more by a very strict storyline with a specific ending in mind. Other games are more action drive, and rely on the player's choices to discover their ultimate fate at the end.
Which will you choose for Brody? I imagine that since you are designing this game for yourself and other Godzilla fans that you won't copy the story of the 2014 movie exactly, so which would you prefer for Brody? Personally, I'm for the latter, with the success or failures of his missions along the way driving him towards a slightly different ending each time.
I don't know if anyone's found these yet, but when you type in "door to hell" in the mutos database, it says some EXCITING stuff! Type it in yourself, but it says, "GAS RESERVES HOLDING. FIRE MEMBER OBSCURING MEMBRANE LAYER AND FUELING INCUBATION."
*fanboy squeal*
I think that there might be some new "natural" kaiju as well as the genetically manipulated ones, because this message points to a few things.
1. this thing is inside a membrane, still in incubation, a scientist could not have constructed a membrane under an eternally-burning hole in the ground, which means it may be as natural as kaiju get. I mean, it even sounds like the "door to hell" might be some part of its SPECIES lifecycle, rather than just a natural gas fire, considering it's growing beneath it, DUE to the flames!
2. There may be other phenomena that could be expained through these "natural" kaiju, such as the bermuda triangle being a monster that generates massive electromagetic fields.
3. Godzilla could have temporary allies, or even more enemies, perhaps the natural kaiju would be kept for a possible sequel?
I dunno, I found it and wondered if anyone knew about it or if I were the first one, do with this new info as you will!
:D
you two think what you will but i hope personally that godzilla will never be a lizard, thats just an annoying steryotype thats been around forever
And also , I believe the amazing Spider-Man 2 to be the compitition here, cuz u know, transformers is another month so I don't really see a compitition here that much since there's other movies in May and close to godzilla already
@DRAGONLORD TEVIN I'm talking about the first train sequence. There are two shots of the same train being destroyed. I do agree with the 2nd train near the end being attacked by Godzilla.
Yeah true i don't give about which makes more money or becomes more popular, but if I had to choose, Michael bay fucked UP the transformers series so idk it might get lowered in box office this time
I think it could work with a little tweaking. I'd still prefer the Godzilla section to be in 3rd person, something about controlling a character of that size in first person seems a little disorentating. Maybe an over the should view kind of like Dead Space as a happy medium. But I do like the Idea of Brody's gameplay being sort of "Call of Duty"-ish. I'm intrigued by this.
Perhaps two different trains? Lol but yeah im serious, the first shot does not look like godzilla destroying it, only a different monster of that shape and color, and the scene where people are dead lying everywhere with a train stomped probably looks more like godzillas, there could be two trains in the movie getting destroyed
