MemberMothra LarvaeFeb-23-2014 5:44 PMI'm just here to let you guys know that my theater (I'm that projectionist who explained the trailer splicing a while back to you guys) has just recieved 5 Godzilla posters from UPS. All the same poster, though. It's the one with the HALO jumpers and Godzilla's spines on the left- hand side.
Nothing serious, but inside one of the tubes the posters came in, there was a note from marketing that said to put 2 posters up within this week and the other 3 when the trailer hits.
Now, knowing posters, they usually come in during the same week the trailer drops. Usually. So I personally can't promise you anything, but I can promise you that (being the projectionist) I will let you guys know in advance when the trailer does indeed come in. The trailers usually come in 3-4 days before they officially need to be released.
Have no fear, guys, marketing is coming!

MemberMothra LarvaeFeb-23-2014 6:24 PMYeah, I've seen Godzilla posters in the four different movie theaters I frequent for awhile now: an 8-screen, a 12-screen, and two 30 screens (one with IMAX).
I'm not saying you're lying....I'm just wondering why your theatre is so behind the ball. Is it some 2 screen joint or something?

MemberMothra LarvaeFeb-23-2014 6:52 PMNo, I'm not lying. I just said my individual theater recieves posters relatively close to the trailer release dates. I cannot speak for other theaters. We recieved just a single poster for Godzilla a week before the first trailer with the building rubble forming a Godzilla silhouette. We have 22 screens including 1 IMAX screen. Except for the few occasions where the marketing companies send posters in early, which does happen. Every theater operates differently, it's not all black and white.

MemberBaragonFeb-23-2014 8:02 PMThat's odd, when I went to my theater in early January to watch The Hobbit, the teaser HALO jump poster was in the lobby. I drooled over it for ten minutes before going into the theater to completely loose my mind when the teaser trailer came on! Its strange that some theaters don't have the poster or are just getting it. I hope EVERY theater gets one soon! Maybe a slick cardboard display that fills up an entire wall? :D
