It's 4 inches tall and 8 inches long, which isn't particularly big I'll grant you, but that money goes towards the details. Each individual scale is defined and if you look at its mouth, the entire thing is detailed, down to inner musculature and taste buds on the skin. That takes hours of work and skill to sculpt and properly paint, which is what you're paying for. I prefer poseable figures to statues, but I can easily see myself spending a solid half hour just staring at all the little intricacies of a well-sculpted statue. You're buying a work of art, and art tends to be expensive. :P
