The Godzilla Minus Zero teaser trailer has made waves across the internet as Takashi Yamazaki's sequel was finally unveiled to the world! The teaser, while short in length, packed plenty of footage full of tantalizing plot details. In this article we quickly break down what the teaser revealed and what fans can expect from the Minus One follow-up this November when it arrives in theaters!
Godzilla Minus Zero Teaser Analysis
It's been 2 years since Godzilla Minus One

The next Godzilla film from Toho will take place in the year 1949 – placing it 2 years after the events of Godzilla Minus One. Acting as a direct follow-up, the world is still recovering from the initial Gojira attack and the teaser references the aftermath of his previous rampage.

Nuclear testing triggers a resurgence
Following Godzilla's attack on Japan, the world, specifically America continues to advance their research into nuclear power. This nuclear testing triggers a resurgence by Godzilla.

Zero Gravity Anomalies
The teaser showcases a fascinating and bizarre phenomenon – floating debris held up by an energetic blue field of some sort. While this could be a possible nod to Godzilla'a highly rumored Monster Zero enemy, it could also be a feature of Godzilla's regeneration ability.

You'll notice the debris looks to be tops of buildings, seemingly severed from their foundation. This could be due to a new Nuclear Pulse ability Godzilla can exercise when backed into a corner, or it could be part of Godzilla's re-emergence later in the film to combat his new enemy.
Godzilla makes landfall in New York

While the teaser ends with a shot of Gojira walking past the Statue of Liberty on his way to New York, this is actually a shot from earlier in the film. Standing at nearly 100 meters (a doubling in size from his initial debut in Minus One two years prior), this version of Godzilla lacks the enhanced features seen earlier in the trailer when he emerges from the ocean. We suspect Godzilla encounters his enemy in New York, is defeated and must retreat to regenerate.
Regeneration / Evolved Gojira

The shot of Godzilla emerging from the water behind a plane showcases a massively upgraded design. Gojira, even larger and more menacing than before, looks thicker and sports massive dorsal plates, along with shoulder plates! This enhanced armor gives Gojira a significantly more menacing appearance but also improves his lethality against enemy Monsters.

The enemy Godzilla will face in Godzilla Minus Zero is heavily rumored to be none other than his arch rival King Ghidorah. If this is true, we can only imagine Takashi's version of Ghidorah will be just as menacing and ferocious as Gojira – especially if it prompts Godzilla to evolve / regenerate to defeat him.
