A visual comparison highlighting the design changes between Kong from his debut in Kong: Skull Island and his next appearance in Godzilla vs. Kong (2020).
In 1973 during the events of Kong: Skull Island, we learned that Kong, the last of his species was only a juvenile. This year, Kong faces off against the Monsterverse heavyweight title holder Godzilla and since 1973, it's evident Kong has grown up quite a bit to match the King of the Monsters.
Below is a very well done fan rendering comparing Kong's appearance in Skull Island to his new look in Godzilla vs. Kong, sourced from official movie marketing. We know GvK Kong will be significantly larger, sporting a husker aesthetic and will also have a beard. His overall look seems to convey a hardened, more fierce presence compared to the inquisitive and more passive attitude Kong portrayed in his debut film. Check out the comparison below from artwork created by the very talented Yosuke Ishikawa and be sure to let us know what you think in the comments!
