There's nothing better than watching a Godzilla movie, but playing a Godzilla game comes a close second. There are dozens of Godzilla games to choose from, which can make the task a little overwhelming. Some are for PC, some for modern consoles and some for throwbacks like the Gameboy or SNES. All of that decision making comes before thinking about the sorts of games that you really enjoy, do you like a strategy game, a side scroller, or something more action based? Thankfully we've done the leg work for you. So, whether you've got five minutes to burn, you’re super-excited about the 2024 release of the movie, or you’ve got a whole afternoon of gaming goodness planned, we've got a Godzilla game to fit everybody's requirements.
Godzilla vs King Kong (2020)
Windows, Mac, Linux
The Godzilla vs King Kong slot game is the perfect choice for anyone who wants to be set up and playing within minutes. If you don’t have a casino site that you use all the time then it’s a good idea to have a shop around and see if you can get your hands on a bonus. VegasSlotsOnline has an excellent guide for online gambling in New Zealand which includes information on the variety of games available, as well as clearly listing what bonuses new sign-ups can use. The story of the game focuses on the battle between these two behemoths, calling on you to rescue people from the creatures, in exchange for a cash payout, some free spins and the chance to watch the two big guys battle it out. The slot takes a traditional 5 reel, 3 row layout and has a progressive jackpot to boot. It's a simple premise of matching the images on the reels to win prizes, or striking a special symbol to grab some free spins. Despite its simplicity this game is endlessly playable thanks to cool sound effects, striking graphics and plenty of play modifiers.
Run Godzilla (2021)
Android, iOS
If you've only got a smartphone to game on then sometimes you might feel a little left out, but not this time. The brilliant Run Godzilla is a completely free mobile game that was released worldwide last year by Toho Games. It won the Godzilla Award at the Indie Games Festival so you know it's got the credentials to be great already. If you've always wondered what a Godzilla film would be like if Godzilla and Kaiju didn't fight, then this game is kind of your way to find out. In Run Godzilla, the pair don't fight, but they run, as the name would suggest. It's up to you to run as fast as you can, increasing your speed at any cost in order to win the race. In order to increase your speed, you'll need to pray to Godzilla and Kaiju with the help of the people in your village. The more people in your village, the more likely your prayers for speed will be answered. In order to attract those villagers you need to produce diamonds in your village factory. Be careful though, the more diamonds you produce, the more pollution your factory pumps out and the shorter lives your villagers will live. On the surface this game is a simple running game, but as you dig deeper there are strategic choices to make in order to ensure that your monsters remain the speediest in all the land.
Godzilla (1990)
Game Boy, TurboGrafx-CD
If you want a game with a retro feel then there's no better way to do it than getting one that was designed back in 1985 and revamped for Gameboy in 1990. Godzilla is a brilliant 2D side scroller in which you play as Godzilla himself. You'll be able to climb ladders, crystals and vines, punch your enemies and boulders and walk or push your way across the map. Despite Godzilla's shortcomings in agility, you're going to need to save your son Minilla who has been kidnapped by a whole host of monsters. The maze that you'll have to navigate is difficult, the obstacles precarious and the puzzles fiendishly challenging, but it's only you who can help Minilla. Along the way you'll need to collect hourglasses to prevent enemy movement, hearts to increase your health and lightning bolts to strike your enemies dead. If you can manage all of that then Minilla will be saved.
