Shin-Godzilla made one hell of a comeback this month. The Toho Godzilla film which originally debuted back in 2016 managed to outperform its original domestic theatrical run during its first weekend for the 4K re-release! While only screening at a limited number of theaters across North America, Shin-Gojira raked in $2.5 Million during its opening weekend – surpassing its original North American debut which garnered Toho $1.9 Million!
Not only that, Shin-Godzilla will continue to earn Toho additional revenue when the film makes another re-relesse debut at the end of the month (August 31st) when the ORTHOchromatic version hits North American theaters as well!
This bodes well for the potential Shin-Godzilla sequel that may be in development at Toho right now.
