The year of S.H.MonsterArts repaints continues with the newest announcement for the line: a repaint/reissue of one of the line’s most controversial releases, the Heisei King Ghidorah!
This figure was originally released back in 2012, and despite its stellar sculpt, paint, and articulation, it suffered from a universal joint problem in the wings that led to weakness and, often, breakage. Although the figure was quietly reissued by Tamashii Nations with corrected wings, the figure quickly went out of print, and now goes for upwards of $300 or more online.
Keeping with 2015’s trend of reissuing figures instead of debuting new sculpts, the King Ghidorah: Special Color Version will be a “Poster Variant” version of the character, with a brighter gold paint job, a load of new accessories, which the original version lacked (including new poster themed beams, a stand, and the time travel craft K.I.D.S.), and presumably, fixed wings.

And, if you can't tell from that last image, here is the poster the new figure is referencing:

Priced at an estimated $120, King Ghidorah: Special Color Version will be a Web Exclusive, and will debut in the United States in January, 2016.
