Pacific Rim Director wants Godzilla to duke it out with jaegers in Pacific Rim 3! (Possibly Fake)

According to multiple articles, but I will be using io9. Pacific Rim director Guillermo Del Toro wishes for Godzilla to make a guest appearance in Pacific Rim 3! Although this film is probably far off, how incredible would that be? This is a direct quote from Del Toro himself:

"So far with the sequel, what we’re writing, what we’re creating, is very different, so there are no plans. Hypothetically, I would love the fu*k out of it. I would love to see a jaeger and Godzilla duke it out. That would be too much for the human brain."

My personal opinion on this? I think it would be cool, but Godzilla I think should stay a solo-series for Legendary and not cross-over with every series that features monsters; if Legendary does include Godzilla in cross-overs, we would most likely be getting Godzilla vs King Kong 2- which I don't think me personally would want to see.

I do wonder, if they were to have Godzilla defeat every PR kaiju, then I think we all would have to see this film.

Also, thank you member Huge-Ben for the heads up before to research this!

^ Changed but still, a canon King Kong vs Godzilla just doesn't seem like it would work.

It would likely be have to take place in a different cinematic universe. (Not exactly, non-canon, just not canon to the 2014 series.) But to say fans haven't wanted the rematch for over 50 years is... incorrect.

Godzilla and Pacific Rim should remain separate. What reason could there be to combine these series other than for the gross gratification of individuals whom desire to see giant monsters sqauring off against giant robots in an uproarious comingling of CGI, loud noises and sideshow acting? If I so desired such a lobatomizing orgy of nonsense, I would watch one of the Transformers films. Ugh! :)

Okay, first off, why wasn't I given credit? I mean, I did post this in the status board yesterday.

As far as the rumor, I think this would work because so many want a Jaeger to fight Godzilla. To me, that can be mechagodzilla if they know how to play the cards correctly. Mechagodzilla be controlled by the aliens, the human jaegers fight Godzilla until mechagodzilla shows up. At least that's what I think.
