With the announcement of Adam Wingard's Godzilla vs. Kong sequel title officially being revealed as Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, Legendary have released a new plot synopsis detailing briefly what fans can expect from the fifth Monsterverse installment! Below is the old plot synopsis originally put out when the GvK sequel was first announced compared to the new one just released by Legendary.
Original Synopsis:
Coming off the global success of 2021’s “Godzilla vs Kong” cameras are now rolling on the latest entry in Warner Bros. Pictures’ and Legendary Pictures’ cinematic Monsterverse. This latest entry follows up the explosive showdown of Godzilla vs. Kong with an all-new cinematic adventure, pitting the almighty Kong and the fearsome Godzilla against a colossal undiscovered threat hidden within our world, challenging their very existence – and our own. The epic new film will delve further into the histories of these Titans, their origins and the mysteries of Skull Island and beyond, while uncovering the mythic battle that helped forge these extraordinary beings and tied them to humankind forever.

GODZILLA X KONG: THE NEW EMPIRE is the thrilling fifth film in the Monsterverse series and sees the legendary Titans Godzilla and Kong team up to face a world-ending threat so terrifying that neither could survive alone.

Both synopsis offer different details about the Godzilla vs. Kong sequel - while the first one gives a little more insight to the film's new Monster antagonist, the new synopsis adds more weight to the severity of their new adversary - stating NEITHER Godzilla or Kong will survive unless they team up.
