With the release of Godzilla Resurgence, aka, Shin-Godzilla, only two weeks away (and still no peep from a second trailer) we hope the steady flow of new images per day keeps up. Yesterday saw the release of behind-the-scenes photos, a new still and magazine cover. Today there's more!
Gormaru Island discovered DVD & Bluray Data Magazine has a new still featuring the anticipated helicopter battle. In an IMAX interview, Shinji Higuchi mentioned there will be lots of aerial shots with attack choppers playing a major role. He also teases a massive event an hour into the movie, but doesn't leave any bread crumbs as to what that might be.
Meanwhile, DVD & Bluray Data's cover features a slight variant on the main Shin-Godzilla poster, with Godzilla rearing his head back.
The second image comes from The Art of Shin-Godzilla book. It appears to be the cover under the sleeve. The Art of Shin-Godzilla has been pushed back from an August 10th to August 29th release date, but the upside is that the page count has gone up from 432 pages to 512. Perhaps the delay was for expansion? Thanks to Scified member Huge-Ben for the tip.
Finally, new images of the ShinGoji puppet that leaked months ago have surfaced. Alleged crew member Yoko Higuchi is seen standing next to Godzilla Resurgence special effects cinematographer Keiichi Sakurai at the Fukuoka Art Museum's Godzilla exhibit.
Although insiders have persisted that the giant Godzilla puppet was discarded for failing effects tests, and Toho has allegedly claimed Godzilla is full CG in the new movie, some have suspected differently.
Many have speculated that Toho hasn't been entirely truthful about their "full" CG Godzilla claim and the promotion of the animatronic in the Fukuoka Museum invites more suspicion.
Until we know more, the "official" word from Toho is that Godzilla is full CG. Perhaps The Art of Shin-Godzilla will shed light on just how much Toho considers "full CG". If indeed the puppet did make it into the film, however, this is hopefully good news for fans of practical effects and tokusatsu.
What do you think of the new images and information? Is it enough to get you hyped? Or will it not be enough until the next trailer hits? And what of the giant puppet? Do you think it was used in the production or not? Sound off below!
