[MILD SPOILERS] Godzilla vs. Kong has a set release date of November 20th, 2020 and we have yet to receive any solid marketing for the movie outside of the leaks we've reported on. Although we expect marketing to ramp up this summer, we still have a while to wait before the first teaser trailer gets released online. In the meantime though, we have some new information you can mull over while we await further hype from Warner Brothers and Legendary.
Sources have informed us here at Godzilla-Movies of a particular scene which was revealed during an early pre-screening of Godzilla vs. Kong which fans will likely be eager to know about and will undoubtedly appreciate.
Please keep in mind however, the information shared with us was from a pre-screening which means it is possible the scene we're about to mention could be cut, but it's unlikely, given its significance and homage to the original King Kong vs. Godzilla.
Our sources have told us that at one point during Godzilla and Kong's many battles, Kong picks up a tree and throws it at Godzilla's face - yeah. This is a direct homage to the iconic scene from the Toho original which saw Kong shove a tree down Godzilla'a throat.
The scene in Godzilla vs. Kong (2020) however will not play out the same way, so we're told. The nod will be more subtle as Kong merely throws a tree like a spear at Godzilla's face and doesn't actually ram it down his throat - this Godzilla wouldn't let Kong get close enough for that anyway. But it is a moment within the film which draws enough attention to the action so it cannot go unnoticed.
It's been a scene fans were calling for since Godzilla vs. Kong was announced and it seems Adam Wingard heard your calls and resurrected this iconic interaction between cinema's two most iconic movie monsters.
We're hoping this scene doesn't get left on the cutting room floor. How can it? It's one of the most memorable moments from the original.
