Hey there GORIZARD, welcome to the forums! What kind of discussion page were you expecting? Haha. As for your post, I agree, I think it would be great to see more Kaiju movies brought over to North America and done in the same fashion as Godzilla is being done in, as well as Pacifc Rim, but I'm not a huge fan of Jet Jaguar, I would prefer to see so many more Kaiju films before a Jet Jaguar film.

Different discussion page than what I was expecting but I'm going to say what I was gonna say anyway. I always pictured, nay, dreamed of Toho establishing like a Toho US-based studio in Hollywood and producing American versions of their kaiju characters. Not exactly Americanize the characters or reimagine them from a western view like Zilla '98 failed to do but rather just simply produce American interpretations of these characters while staying true to the mythos while revitalizing them for a new generation at the same time! I've always wanted to see a film about Jet Jaguar being built by a military organization (let's say G-FORCE) to battle the onslaught of incoming giant monsters. Pacific Rim is close enough to that :)

I agree, they should give Akira at least a cameo role. Which I think they will, given the promotional image they posted on Facebook, which you can see below. Also, wanted to say, the first post to this thread has been updated with the latest addition to the cast, Sally Hawkins, being confirmed today! This is on of the hardest questions or m to answer I mean, who doesnt love the original masterpeice "Gojira", or the grooviness of Godzilla Vs The Smog Monster, or even the chessey yet lovable Godzilla Vs Megalon, still my favorite has always been and will always be "Son Of Godzilla", I'm sure I will be criticized but i dont care it was my overall favorite godzilla movie.

DaikaijuvieGodzilla 2014 ForumNew Monsters in Godzilla 2014
In my opinion the monster needs to have a certain quality about it, hopefully in a suit not all computer animation, this can really hurt the movie if it is not in the same spirit as the other monsters from the past. I am excited yet skeptical about the new movie, atleast we get a new godzilla and hopefully a sequel or even a spinoff cartoon, maybe this can bring Godzilla back for us, or maybe it can kill it like they almost did in the 90s.

The best looking Godzilla is he 1998 Remake...Just kidding! I really like the weird cookie monster looking suits from the 1960s, mainly because they are the movies my son and I enjoy to watch together, but in my opinion the best looking suit is the suit they used in Godzilla Vs. Biollante.

DaikaijuvieGodzilla 2014 ForumShould Godzilla 2014 take place primarily in Japan or America?
I'm sure they will have it take place in the United States, although for the more imaginative Godzilla fans, we have seen our share of Americanized Godzilla portrayals including the 1998 remake (ad its cartoon spinoff), the 1970s Marvel Comics by Stan Lee, even the Hanna Barbara Cartoons , in a way I really hope it will take place in Japan, but I doubt it.

Mega BearGodzilla 2014 ForumShould Godzilla 2014 take place primarily in Japan or America?
I feel like if it was set in America the 1998 remake would pop into my head throughout the entire thing. However, I really don't mind where it is set so long as they carry out a great story.

Spi3000Godzilla 2014 ForumShould Godzilla 2014 take place primarily in Japan or America?
By heart, I say it should primarily set in Japan. But it wouldn't hurt at all if the King of all Monsters attacks the states in one scene. In Destroy All Monsters, Godzilla attacked New York. Actually it would be hilarious to see Big G step on a King Kong inflatable or statue if one's around. But that's off topic.

i feel like Godzilla vs the Thing was the best movie of the 60's. the suit is totally sinister...even the dubbing was solid...it would also mark the last time Godzilla would be like a force of nature...until the 80's i guess...

Well Im just looking for something where you play as SDF and fight off a monster or two. Not saying it has to be Godzilla. It could be Cloverfield monster, a Tripod from War of the Worlds, King Kong even. A durable enemy, that has a limited range where you would probably be safe in a row of tanks a good distance away from the target.

I like the idea. Although I prefer monster versus monster action, it would be fun to play as a soldier in a realistic setting. It conjures up some thoughts of the mutants in Final Wars taking down the sea monster Ebirah. I just can't see lasting more than two seconds against Godzilla, unless we're talking about the iguana from the Tri-Star film.

I agree with the G vs, Biollante suit being the best.. even though i love the early - mid 60s movies, G looks just like the cookie monster in some of those.

Orga, it's superior maneuverability will give it a massive edge. Also, it has the luxury of ranged combat with it's beam, while Biollante's acidic sap, can only go so far before gravity takes it's toll.

Regarding my last comment. They had a teaser at the comic-con for godzilla? How was that made when the movie was not even in production/filming yet?

I think whatever design they use he has to be massive in hs girth...so i lean towards a design like parts of '62 and '89 with a touch of say '64 and GMK....really hard to say....

I can't wait to see how everything we've heard so far about the new movie comes together. We've heard that Gareth Edwards wants to create a film grounded in reality including how we would react if this were really happening. We've heard that Godzilla will be returning to his serious roots including destroying cities. I'm curious as to how the additional monsters that he fights come into play. Are they also awakened by nuclear testing? I hope there is a scene in that movie, perhaps an extra in the end credits, where Godzilla travels the globe and blows up a crackpot from North Korea.

Biollante. But I'm a little biased lol. Biollante is one of my favorite Godzilla foes.

A new monster would be great. I agree that they need to go away from insects unless its like a scorpion or maybe a centipede. I thought that was a cool idea posted earlier. If I had to choose a traditional monster then Ghidorah would have to be the top choice. He is the most menacing foe Godzilla has imo, but a monster I'd like to see more of is Biollante. Would love to see this monster used more for sure.

It depends on what you mean by Orga, the one from the movie, or the one from the game. If it was the movie, there would be a slight chance Orga could loose, due to his strength and regeneration he has a 80% chance of winning. Biollante's "Immortality" and from what I've read it also has a regeneration abilities. And last of what i know, the acidic sap that he shoots from his mouth. Now the Orga from games would be near over power against Biollante. He has his strength, shoulder beam, regeneration, High jumps, and even his own Plasma spit! But in all, it depends on how the battle would play out.

I call heads - for Biollante. I think her tentacles would give Orga a tough time. Orga is strong, yes and does have that projectile beam from his shoulder, but I think Biollante might be able to hold him down long enough to deliver a finishing blow. It is a tough call, t'is why I made this debate, haha. Both monsters are so similar.

This is tough call, one is very alien and the other is very predatory, both are so unpredictable. I don't know. They both look so cool too. Call it in the air guys. ( flips coin)

Orga would Win..unless biollante used its tentacles to tie orga uo and kill him that way ..but orga i think would be too smart for her..

Orga. He has a breath weapon, more maneuverable, and is far stronger. Biollante could only briefly inconvenience him with his vines.

Not sure when the trailer will debut. Filming has only been going on for a week and a bit now. It's possible we could see one this summer. Maybe a teaser here and there before then, but no full length trailers I would imagine.

Akira should be the leader of the japanese military.. who assists the american military in fending off the other kaiju in this movie.. if there are any.. and he should be the hero/commander who defeats at least one of them. then again he could play a nuclear scientist.. or a palientologist. A leading role for sure. there ought to be a lot of nods towards the original.
