The original for sure, not only did it start the entire franchise but it was by far the one with the most significant message.

The original of course especially the Japanese version weighs heavy on the topic of nuclear testing

I love Freddy but this is an absolutely ridiculous fight. Freddy gets his ass whooped by teenagers. For him to even attempt this would be suicide because A. Godzilla is resistant against mind attacks. B. Freddy needs fear, Godzilla has never shown any form of fear. C. Freddy gets his ass whooped even in his realm by Jason and teenage girls. D. Godzilla would destroy Elm street with a step or two. Why would Freddy send Godzilla to destroy the only thing that can bring him back? etc. Giant monsters vs Godzilla. Anything else is just a lose-lose. IMO anyway.

The original film, the one released in 1954, the one that gave us 28 films going on 29 (29 going on 30 counting the '98 remake), what ever you prefer to call it, Gojira or Godzilla King of the Monsters, that film will ALWAYS be not only the most but the PRIME meaningful film in the series. Sure, later Godzilla films do have some sort of meaning with-in the film, but it's the original is the one that will always have the most. Godzilla was never just a monster, he was a message to the world of the devastation that was the Atom Bombs dropped in Japan's Nagasaki and Hiroshima. The film was not only telling a story about a giant monster on a rampage, it was giving the experience that Japan's people have suffered to where even this day the tragedy event still haunts them. Even now the movie is a strong Anti-Nuke message, even though later movies doesn't really share that message anymore (only briefly) the message is still strong in the original 1954 film.

This film will have nothing to do with ANY of the previous films, besides the fact that Godzilla will be in it. I'm sure the website just did that to pay homage to the original film.
ReplyGfan117Godzilla ForumMost meaningful godzilla movieAug 18, 2013
To me the Original Godzilla will be the most meaningful due to the fact that it displays consequences for testing such powerful and devastating weaponry to me it was basicly saying that if we dont stop with such powerful weapons Mother Nature will find a way to stop the harm being done to planet earth

Depends. Does Godzilla dream? Well, all creatures does wright? I could see a very twisted fight coming, but Godzilla wouldnt know HOW to defeat Freddy. Its a very long time ago since i saw the films, but didnt they have to bury his bones somewhere or some 80`s shit like that?
But i suppose if Jason had a good chance then i suppose Godzilla would be able to fight him. Actually, in the heisei series, he was shown to be capable of disrupting any sort mental link with that chick in VS Biollante?

Godzilla is not gonna die, or stay dead at least. It's practically a tradition. You can't have more Godzilla movies without Godzilla. If this is successful, they'll make sequels. Remember, Gareth said himself that if this movie did well, he'd love to do a Destroy All Monsters type movie. In addition, kids will be all over this film. Wouldn't really sell toys if Godzilla stays dead. They'll probably make it seem like he's dead but then show proof he's still out there.

Gojira will always come in the most meaningful Godzilla movie ever to me. Mostly because it's the very first movie that explains Godzilla's history and how he became Godzilla and also gives the name "Godzilla King of The Monsters".

ReplyG. H. (Gman)Godzilla 2014 Forumhow big do you want godzilla to be?Aug 18, 2013
In the Japanese films I always preferred it when Godzilla was smaller... around 50-80 meters. That way the miniatures looked more detailed and it was easier to get some low angle shots to make him look truly large.
In the later 90s movies and Final Wars, he was 100 meters and the miniatures weren't very detailed because you can only add so many nuances when the monster is supposed to be so big. He hardly ever really looked 100 meters and it often resulted in some sloppy special effects.
Now I don't think that's going to be an issue with the new movie because Godzilla is being brought to life with western visual effects. Still, I wanted Godzilla to be able to relate to the human characters on some physical level and sometimes being so big makes it hard to notice the characters in question.
Personally I'd prefer a slightly smaller, 60-80 meter Godzilla, but rumor has it this will be the largest Godzilla yet at 100-120 meters tall.

Must I say this again? GODZILLA'S TWO OPPONENTS IN THIS UPCOMING 2014 FILM WILL BE NEW! No Mothra, no Anguirus, and certainly no Kamacuras. The thing in the Comic Con trailer was only vaguely insect-like.
ReplyGodzillasaurusGodzilla 2014 ForumDeathla as Godzilla's main opponent in the the new movie.Aug 18, 2013
Godzilla's opponents will both be completely new. Deathla, although he never actually appeared in any film, is not new. Besides, Hedorah sucks anyway.
@Gabriel Leite, Anguirus won't be in it either. Why are all of you so exciting for this movie, hoping that some old monsters will appear!? Don't any of you want something new!?!?!?

@RAMMODULE, I think Keizer Ghidorah and Gigan are on the same team here... But even if they weren't, Keizer Ghidorah would win. He would have killed Godzilla if his opponent was never given more power. Gigan got his ass kicked, twice.

Mine is what Godzilla: Final Wars should have been.
It should've been a direct sequel to Tokyo SOS. The Xilliens use mind control to use the monsters Rodan, Anguirus, Titanosaurus, Kumonga, Kamacarus, Varan, Baragon, Zilla, Gorosaurus, Manda, Ebirah, and Maguma (Gorath is in it, so why not Maguma too?). The Xilliens "capture" the monsters to "protect" the Earth. They warn the Earth of a large meteor called "Gorath". The same stuff in between that happened in the actual movie happens here, too, and they betray Earth and unleash all the monsters along with a few of their own: MechaGodzilla (they got the idea from observing Earth over the past 2 years), Hedorah, Gigan, Megalon, and remember Godzilla's DNA the GDF had at the end of Tokyo SOS? The Xillians stole it to create SpaceGodzilla. All this crazyness wakes Godzilla up from the bottom of the ocean. Godzilla fights the Earth monsters and breaks them free of the Xilliens control. They help Godzilla (along with a new mech created by the GDF called "Moguera") defeat the Xillien monsters, though Zilla, Ebirah, Kamacarus, Maguma, and Moguera were all killed by the Xillien monsters. Soon the Gorath meteor closes in on Earth but Godzilla stops it with his atomic breath and another monster appears; King Ghidorah! The Mothra larvas (from the previous film) join the fray, knowing how dangerous KG is, and Gigan appears again, repaired and upgraded (with chainsaws :D) by the Xilliens. Varan, Baragon and the Mothra larvas fight and kill Gigan, while Godzilla, Anguirus, Rodan, Kumonga, Gorosaurus, and Titanosaurus battle King Ghidorah (NOT Kaizer Ghidorah) and MechaGodzilla (the only one, besides Gigan, who wasn't previously defeated). The Xilliens are defeated, the Earth kaiju return to their habitats, and the world is at peace once again.

Destoroyah. He was by far the most powerfull enemy Godzilla ever fought. Not even in his super powered meltdown form he had problems fighing him. I have a feeling alot will say the GMK Godzilla will simply because he was from the "oh so perfect" GMK movie.
ReplyGl78064Godzilla ForumMost meaningful godzilla movieAug 17, 2013
Godzilla vs Megalon because it tells you to stop nuclear tests or else some race of underground people that you've never known existed will send a bomb-spitting beetle monster with drills for hands to destroy humans, but then some robot created by humans would join forces with a giant lizard to kill the beetle and a cyborg chicken. Eeyup, most meaningful Godzilla movie.
ReplyFordBrodyLover99Godzilla ForumMost meaningful godzilla movieAug 17, 2013
Godzilla 1954 (the original) is the most meaningful Godzilla movie, and maybe one of the most meaningful monster movies of all time. Godzilla himself is an allegory of nuclear destruction, and he portrays it perfectly. The shear fear that comes from the people only makes it so much more powerfull. The idea came from people who experienced one of the worst catastrophes in history.
(I DO NOT WANT TO DISCUSS IF THEY DESERVED OR NOT, OR ANYTHING LIKE THAT, IT DOESNT MATTER. IM JUT SAYING)
It has such a great moral about why nuclear weapons and this war was a horrible crime.

No, definitely not, unless it's playing on some classic rock station in the background in some obscure scene. That song is cornier now than when it came out. The Director already said that the movie has a serious tone to it.
