Chaddavis2292Godzilla ForumGodzilla's single most powerful foe

We'll it not destroyah it kiezar ghidirah because he almost manage to kill him and he fought godzilla at his best which is final war godzilla. Yea destroyah is very tough but still he wasn't close to killing godzilla and eventually he would of won. Now if that was final war godzilla the fight would of been done a whole lot early because his atomic ray alone was able to kill the other monster with one shot because of how much power he had n that why his red spiral was so strong to kill Kiezar ghidorah with one shot and would have done the same to destroyah.

TheGMan123Godzilla 2014 ForumWhats going to happen to Dr. Serizawa

It's been said before that there will be scenes in 1954. It's also been said that Dr. Serizawa will in fact make an appearance, but as a modern day iteration. The leaked script from 2012 that is still higly questionable basically had a scenario where it appeared to be an alternate Godzilla universe where the 1954 attack never happened. If we take all these into account (please take note that this is pure speculation based on tidbits of info not proven official):

Perhaps, if this is indeed a complete reboot and not another sequel to the original film, the characters from the original could possibly still exist canonically, including Dr. Serizawa, who's descendant, the modern Dr. Serizawa, would exist because the 1954 one never had to take his own life to stop the original Godzilla. The majority of them wouldn't know about the existance of Godzilla, and could be a pivotal plot point for those who do know. It's been stated before that this Godzilla could be considered the same as the original spiritually, but perhaps it runs deeper than that.

Again, all of this is pure speculation and should only be thought of as something lof interest, not taken as fact or official.

i wonder if perhaps the second movie in the trilogy could introduce some of the old monters who need a new movie going for them like hedorah he was cool but the movie.....blech. im not sure if its for kids, adults, or godzilla fans. He deserves some justice after only being in final wars for about 30 seconds. and he got his butt handed to him on a silver platter there. im just saying monsters like him have a ton of potential. at least Kiryu got a second movie. but what about Varan, Angirus, Baragon and them. those guys were cool too.

i also believe the third movie could be another movie like final wars or destroy all monsters THAT would be an epic finale rather than waiting for japan to take back the big g-man and make more movies.

:P #rant :P

god, would u look at that

I would love to see a game based on the movie in the way of like Godzilla Generations on the Sega Dreamcast. I still play that game to this day and it's only in Japanese. I would be ok with it being based off the movie, or just in the Godzilla Universe like somone else had said above, comparing the Batman games. They say superheroes have crappy games and don't get justice, but Big G is higher on that list in my opinion. Godzilla generations is the only one I ever really enjoyed.

Durp004Godzilla ForumKing Ghidorah's reputation

I feel you missed the point I was trying to make. I'm well aware the millenium didn't do well hence why I used it's box office as a conparison to the lower stature the movies had from past generations. I was simply using mothra as an example of how a younger audience could see any godzilla movie, mothra being my example because as a fan and rewatching it changed my perception of the character something the average person wouldn't do if they disliked a movie. Mothra in that example could be changed with any old toho monster, Megalon, Gabara, Ebirah, ect could all fill his role for the setting of some1 watching the movie, thinking the storyline or movie itself was weak, and dismissing the character altogether, thus older enemies are left out in favor of the more popular ones creating the endless cycle of those monsters gaining popularity while the others aren't used and never get a chance.

Yes people are aware of Ghidorah, but are they aware of all the Godzilla monsters that have been used? Chances are during their lifetime at some point a Ghidorah movie has come out so if you're interested in the character from there they explore the other movies he's in promoting the characters popularity. This isn't the case with other monsters though who haven't been used recently. If you never see Megalon(just an example monster any old underrated Godzilla friend or foe could be put in this situation) in a new movie would you be interested? No of course not as there's nothing putting him in the spotlight to give an interest to him.  This brings me back to my point of while Megalon's original movie didn't do well that came out roughly 40 years ago and tastes of movie crowds change. He could be brought back and be received very well, but that will never get the chance as that idea would almost 100% be thrown out in favor of bringing back a monster like Ghidorah and Mothra aaaand the cycle would continue.

Main point being back to what I said originally those monsters are popular because they're forced on you. No point being a fan of titanosaurus, or jet jaguar as chances are you'll never see that monster again, but if you can at least make yourself get behind Ghidorah or Mothra your monster will always be returned to at 1 point or another. True the fans make these monster popular and thus toho keeps returning to them, but when you give 3 monsters an appearance in over half the movie entries you're basically cornering out the competition. It's like if there was a Ms America pageant and 5 contestants got to participate in every round while others just came in for 1 of 2 of course those 5 would win, and of course they'd be the favorites as the others have no real way to compete with that.Probably a bad example but you get my drift.

@valkorin, finally! someone else remembers the marvel godzilla!

any way, i would definietly agree that he may be 5-600 feet in height. it depends of course, on if gareth edwards actually took that goji into consideration, if he did than godzill would have to be somewhere above 500 feet, if not then 5-600 feet might be a bit big. also, you may notice that the whole 350 feet thing wasn't in any quotes, it was just something in the article used to describe godzilla.  and 350 sounds like a very rounded number, especially if you are rounding up from the heisi godzilla height. in the end of course, we really can only speculate about godzillas heigt at this point in time, even the trailer, because of the angle and distance, can't really be used as an accurate way to tell godzillas true heigt.

This is a reboot, not a remake so while I can see bringing the character back for nostalgia I really disagree with the decision.

It seems like scientist role has been given to Bryan Cranston's character so I have no idea what Serizawa will do. Perhaps the 2 will work together to come up with the missile you see being loaded in the preview or some type of anti Godzilla weapon.

lmao nevermind, someone just before I commented had mentioned the elevation differences.

Reply
BCrockett94Godzilla 2014 Forumonce.

I can't be the only person to realize that San Francisco has about a thousand feet difference in elevation extremes.  Even in close proximity the elevation can change drastically. If everyone is so sure that the building is like 800 ft tall, it's more than probably that Godzilla is on a more elevated part of San Francisco. Even if that's not the building, it's possible that the building is maybe 350 ft approximately. Also, if you notice, Godzilla is not right next to the building, maybe a few hundred feet away, which only further increases the chance that Godzilla could be standing on a more elevated area. San Francisco is not a flat city. It doesn't stay have that consistent elevation, it's extremely varied. It's one of those cities that you can drive for about ten seconds and be about five hundred feet lower than when you started.

I'm very surprised no one had mentioned that to further discredit Godzilla's height being something way above what was said "just a bit bigger, like putting an antenna on a building to make it bigger". Because two hundred to eight hundred feet more is just  "a bit bigger".

The problem with this theory of yours, VALKORIN, is that while it conforms to modern day specifics for a HALO jump and the precautions that real soldiers take during its execution, you have to remember that this is a movie. They're going for a realistic feel for Godzilla and a realistic take on the human reaction. However, even in a movie like this, they can open the soldier's chutes at whatever height they want and have them come out okay because movie physics are seldom accurate to real life. They might be going for realism in the tone of the movie, but they never said that they'd be exact to every tiny eetail about what their characters go through as far as physical activity.

Again, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to understand why Godzilla will not break 400 feet.

The facts that prove contrary to your theory are as follows:

* Gareth Edwards interview with IGN confirms that Godzilla will be minimally taller than the tallest incarnation on film which is the Heisei version standing at 100 meters or 328 feet.

* If Godzilla were the same height as teh 555 building (779') he would have been visible during the opening wide shot of the city when the soldiers are falling. At such a height, there is no way for him to not be visible from anywhere in the city due to it's small size at 49 square miles, or 7x7 miles (roughly).

* It was expalined multiple times during early development that he'd be bigger than ever, but still small enough to 'hide' within the skyscrapers.

* The Godzilla encounter footage didn't show the final creature design from a physical appearance standpoint, but it did show his final height at 35 stories tall.

* 35 stories is, by modern American architectural design specifications, around a height of around 355 feet.

Coincidence?

* Geographically, the 555 building rests at the base of an elevational rise and is only 36 ft above sea level.

* I can now confirm, after critically examining the trailer and comparing it to both street maps and geographical maps of San Francisco, that Godzilla was on a rise/steep by comparing the orientation of the 555 building itself to Godzilla and other larger buildings in the walking shot during the trailer. By analyzing and comparing the locations, shapes, and relative heights of these structures surrounding both Godzilla and the 555 building, I can say with relative confidence that Godzilla's walking path in the trailer was roughly through the general areas of Powell St., Mason St., and Taylor St.

* Powell St. is the closest to the 555 building, and is about 1000 feet away which means that Godzilla is much farther away than he appears at first glance thanks to lighting and camera angle. Also, Godzilla is walking on a rise/steep given that geographical distance and difference of those streets relative to the 555 building's location which makes him stand taller than normal against the 555 building itself which is why he almost appears to stand even with it. He's farther above sea level than the 555 building.

Those are the facts.

How tall is that particular steep area I mentioned? I honestly don't know because I can't find any information on the different elevations throughout the city which can accurately measure the changes from street to street across the city. I tried checking different geo maps, but they didn't give me readings either that were accurately measurable which is why I'm not posting claims about the difference. If you can track down that specific information, then do so because as much as I want to, I've been unable to. If you find the elevation of these streets as they get closer to California Street, you'll be able to tell just how much higher above sea level Godzilla is standing versus the 555 building.

Regardless, the fact remains that we have confirmation (and have had for some time now) that Godzilla is minimally taller than the Heisei incarnation from Director Gareth Edwards himself, but we also have the proof in the trailer itself that Godzilla is walking along one of the rises/steeps in San Francisco's constantly changing geographical elevation. Again, it's a small city, but it's got a HUGE number of elevational changes if you've never been there to see them or haven't checked a geographical map of it. Driving throuh it is quite the trip.

We can argue the logic of the HALO jump and (for lack of a nicer phrase) b*tch and moan about the whole 'standing level with the 555 building in the trailer', but the facts remain the same.

The trailer was meant to showcase Godzilla and tease both him and the tone and scope of the movie, which is what a trailer is meant to do. Was Godzilla's size accurately depicted for us with absolute precision? Not at all. Forced perspective and clever camera angles and lighting (as well as San Fran's wonderful geography) made sure of that. Anyone and everyone who says he's level with the 555 building I can confirm is wrong with absolute confidence, and when the movie comes out I guarantee they won't have anything to say to those who ask them "what happened to your 779' estimation?" In fact, many of them might try to deny having made such an estimation, but the posts they've made don't lie (so long as they don't delete them of course).

When making examinations and making speculation based on real facts and data such as I have done, it helps to do the research and think logically rather than rely solely on what your eyes tell you. Taking fats and real data into account first and then trusting your eyes makes for much more accurate and reliable speculatoin and expectations.

The human eye is very easily fooled, as is proven by the 779' theory even existing in the first place, as well as any and all optical illusions you may be familiar with. We can argue about it, or we can accept the reality that Gareth Edwards has made a Godzilla that is only minimally taller than the 328 ft. mark as he openly admitted to on live television. He even exclaimed that he's a size for a certain reason and that making him too big *cough* 779' *cough* would take away the story telling and the ability of the movie crew and animation team to really have fun with him and make him believable within the scope of suspending out disbelief that such a creature could even exist.

I'll say it one final time, I can say with confidence that I trust the 350 ft. even though I'll give or take 20-40 feet for however much Godzilla leans forward or straightens when walking or standing for balance/attacking purposes. But again, given the real data such as San Frans elevation in combination with modern American architecture design rules and floor plans, I can say with confidence that 350 is just about right for Godzilla's size.

Acctualy the tallest Godzilla before this movie would have been the marvel Godzilla who was around 475'to 500' so yes iv already heard hes gonna be a bit taller so 550' or 600' is acctyualy accurate to everything that has been released up till this point.

Durp004Godzilla ForumDestoryah is Overrated

The rivalry in my eyes stems from his origin. He was born from the only real thing to kill Godzilla, and while this wasn't the same Godzilla it was a stronger one thus he didn't kneel over and die after just 1 shot. To see the strongest form of Godzilla take on a personified version of the thing that killed him made the fight for me. True it was never established as a rivaly, but as I said with Ghidorah no movie except maybe Spacegodzilla coming to earth simply to kill Godzilla ever established a rivalry it's mostly been up to the fans.

I don't know why you don't think Destroyah is iconic. True he may not hold the same stature Ghidorah or Mothra do, but he is definitely among the upper level of monsters popular from the series as evident by the fact he's been returned in almost every game released after his movie showing the monster has a following and popularity larger than a lot of the monster's who's place he took. There's also the fact heisei movies were't released initially in the US unless you special imported them before DVDs. That alone could also explain a lot of the villains from heisei not having the iconic role they may deserve over showa monsters whos movie was realeased in the US, in movie theaters in most cases.

Ill just say that he will most likely between 350-450 feet. Until we get an official statement which I doubt they will until movie release date to keep us fans guessing all we have to go back on is Edward's statement of Godzilla being tallest and slightly above the height of Godzilla at his peak of power which was Final Wars I believe.

Since this is a modern Serizawa id imagine he will play a pivotal role in solving the Godzilla crisis along with the other monsters. Based on the footage shown and photos of him in hazmat gear id say he discovers the foes Godzilla will face in the movie which are later experimented on and break loose. Since Legendary has plans for Godzilla after this reboot if it does well i'd imagine he will attempt to come up with a weapon capable of matching Godzilla but in the end doesnt work.

Its probably just a well crafted fan sculpture made by a fan. It looks amazing or its a low chance but maybe Godzillas feet will look somewhat different from what we've been shown. THe model above that is the 10 inch one was subject to change and isnt final but then again theres the model with Biollante. If Legendary decided to reimagine Biollante for a sequel to Godzilla then id imagine it would look like that.

LinkzillaGodzilla 2014 Forumonce.

I seriously doubt that the filmmakers actually took into account the minimum height at which people can open their parachutes OR the actual heights of specific buildings in San Fran when making Godzilla's scenes. People seem to forget that, even in the original film, where the sets were painstakingly recreated from real Tokyo locations, there were some mistakes and inconsistencies in Godzilla's size compared to the buildings, and the makers of this film almost certainly don't care that much about accurately representing his size. There is no "proof" that he is around 600', nor is there any reason to believe he will be such a ridiculous size. The director flat-out stated that he will only be the largest by a bit, so he will only be the largest by a bit, period. Can we please stop making discussions about Godzilla's height now?

Reply
CryolophosaurusGodzilla 2014 Forumonce.

well its not about perspective its about the logic of the HALO jump itself if Godzilla were say 350' to 450' most of those jumpers are dead and the others would suffer serious injury from the impact so perspective has nothing to do with it.

Reply
Akio123Godzilla 2014 Forumonce.

Hm, I see your point. Then again, the angle, and perspective really take part in our assumptions. The thing is, we may not know how tall Godzilla is until May(Considering there will be a book). Maybe even sooner, but at the moment, I believe it is hard to say so. As fans waiting for the movie we have no direct info or proof. The closest we have to "proof" is that article, and even then it wasn't an official statement.

Personally, I find it hard to believe that this Godzilla is 350 feet tall. Hell, I could be wrong. Until I hear or read a statement either from Legendary/Warner Bros or Gareth Edwards himself, I won't take any assumptions about his size into consideration. I say this respectfully. Plus, I mean...it's not even like the article said, "351, 356" or whatever. It was DEAD CENTER 350'. EXACT. Lol. I only take that with a grain of salt. Then again, to believe Godzilla is over 400ft is rather sketchy because Gareth said he'd be the tallest by only a little. I guess we'll have to wait.

It took some time, but honestly after a good amount of thought..it really does not matter how tall Godzilla is. You know? So many people want his height to be absurd and or compete with the height of the monsters from Pacific Rim. The thing is, this is NOT Pacific Rim. It's Godzilla. They're different stories in different universes. We should except each as its own. No matter what, Godzilla is still the character that has been around for 60 years. He's still one of the original cinema behemoths. He's still the unbeatable King of the Monsters. Of course I'd love a 800 ft Godzilla over a 180 ft one anyday. However, as long as I get a Godzilla remeniscent to the original, I'll be happy.

I was thinking about it, I think that maybe the Mutos are Dr. Serizawa´s  new Bio-Organic Weapons. Maybe he is they "Father"

EDIT: I think he will die, if he is even in part responsible of the Mutos breakout, the Mutos would kill him (That would be more dreamartic). If he don´t help to create the mutos, then Godzilla will kill him, anyway, in both scenarios, he will have chance to scape, but he will stay and get killed by the monsters because some kind of blame scence.

I actually haven't seen the movie, but I saw the scene and it was awesome, I raelly want to see it, thats like the only monster that matches the picture. Like what other monster has green, plant-like tentacles. I truly don't know, maybe it is the new monster, probably not.
