This seems like a very solid theory and very believable. This would be a very good movie to watch.

@ANANASATOM your right the the first one his tail is perfectly straight.  Looks  bit strange as you would think he would drag it on the ground behind him.

I talked about this is another thread, so I'll try not to repeat myself too much here, but basically YES it should be counted. 

I LIKED it as a Godzilla movie. Yes, it disappointed me in some areas, but it is still in my top 1/3 of Godzilla films.

Plot/Characters/Special Effects are all on par with what we've come to expect from the franchise, and even surpass it in several ways. 

The departures from the character (durability, lack of atomic breath) while unfortunate, still fall within the realm of 'creative license' when re-interpreting Godzilla. Do I necessarily LIKE those changes to the character? No, of course not. But it's not severe enough to warrant cutting the film/character depiction from the franchise.

I'm sorry but what a dumb question.  It wasn't really that bad a movie, and if u really look at most other Godzilla films, THEY'RE HORRIBLE.  They just made him look cool here and there.  These days every 14 yr old kid with internet access is apparently, a great connoisseur of films, even though they tend to join in casting stones.  Godzilla '98's design was meant to be a big departure from the baggy fat suits we'd seen, and it was still an improvement in my opinion.  Yes the story could've been better, but i'll still count it.  That doesn't mean that this new one won't stomp it into the ground.  Think if this version had been done back then: it would be horrible.  If u ask me, everything worked out just fine.

Hey, within that GIF I notice possibly another appendage, to the right after the footfall. It might be a light pole or something though, it's pretty straight. Never noticed this before. But it *might* be another leg.

True story. Honestly to me it doesnt even make a difference how big or small he is in comparison to others. He'll be just the right size for what Edwards is trying to convey and thats what matters.  I think its time to accept that this isn't going to be Zilla 98 and we shouldn't be so worried about every little detail.

They basically argued with a magazine article where one of the visual effects guys said that godzilla was 350ft.

Because obviously a group of fans know better than the VFX guys.

Another magazine confirmed Gdozilla being 350ft and people are still arguing about it. I doub tthis will put anything to rest. 

Also to put a rest on the size debate as I read through, Empire confirms his size is approx 350ft tall.

It's part of the history of Godzilla/Gojira, so it should be remembered. I consider it as a prototype for an American Godzilla. Good looks and CGI, story was enjoyable, but the military was a bit dumb and the creature not Godzilla. Thanks to the lessons learned from it, we have a new American Godzilla that captures the origings of Gojira yet have a new and cool look (some seem to be inspired from the 1998 Godzilla).

I don't think any movie will come out that doesn't have skeptics. It just comes with the fame. I'm sure movies like Citizen Kane, and Vertigo who both have held the title, of "greatest movie ever" here in the US had people dislike it before, during, or after they came out. Not saying Godzilla will ever hold that title, but hate's natural.

Yes, it should be counted. It is a Tohoverse (don't know if that's the right term) movie. I view it much like a do the stand-alone Rodan movie, or any other Toho movie that does not have Godzilla in it. It's a spin-off. Zilla is a Toho monster, and belongs with the rest of them. There were Godzilla movies that were worse than 98', and there are ones that are better. However, it needs to be concidered.

Yes it's a new version of Godzilla but because it strays too far it's hated. People are always quick to criticise is special effects and bad characters, but will look past all of these in most other versions if toho's name is behind it. Were the characters bad? To a degree yes, none were particularly likeably, but there's a vast amount of toho Godzilla movies I could say the same for. Can any1 honestly say the characters from Godzilla vs Megaguirus were well done? Of course not. How about the stars of Godzilla vs Hedorah? No? Yeah the list could go on really, but bad characters and questionable story is a part of so many Godzilla movies it's unfair to single the american one out. Sure it would have been nice to see the invulnerability, or atomic breath, but all of that was corrected in the series that spawned after the movie.

I've ha expirenece with this. I used to be made fun of for liking Godzilla in 1rst-3rd grade. To deal with the haters and bullies, we must unite. We cannot do it alone. Minilla didn't face his bully alone. His father helped him face Gabara and kick his stupid, green ass. We must stand strong, never backing down because society has shunned us. We are fans, proud and true. And we will nver give in to haters!

Sort of. As horrifying as it is, the 1998 movie is part of Godzilla's history. The movie itself is decent (to a degree), but it would be better if it was renamed Zilla. This movie can be used as an example of how NOT to make a Godzilla movie in america. Still, it is part of Godzilla's past, it sucks, but it deserves some respect. Not a lot of respect (it's still a piece of sh*t), but just a little.

@Valkorin Now Im a pretty stupid person so I can be wrong but don't bugs or insects walk on the tip of their legs. So that could mean Godzilla cut off or blew off the Mutos wings and when it fell down it didn't land right.

guys if you paid attention to the dialogue, then you would know that serizawa said 'In 1954, We awoken something' which means that godzilla was and is not a mutaion of a dinosaur, and 'those nuclear tests in the pacific... not tests' 'they were trying to kill it' means that after 1954 all tests in the Pacific were actually nuclear weapons used to try and kill godzilla, they must have faild beccuase he come back in the present time, and must have gained his atomic breath due to the exposure of 95 nuclear weapons

i think it's good, it gives godzilla armour on his underbelly, in terms of the animal kingdom, those that have tick back armour always have a weak underbelly, the chest armour eliminates that problem, i guess that's anouther realsim factor in the design

i think everybody needs to calm down when it comes down to mothra because let me remind you people something. mothra isn't just a stupid bug monster she was one of those monster that defeated godzilla before and she was one of the first monsters that came including rodan too in the godzilla universe also she plays a huge role as the guardian of the earth, you can't have a godzilla movies without those two. mecha godzilla and king ghidorah can come later.

After all the trailer's release, I could ignore those haters forever, I mean almost all of them hasn't even been getting on the info about just how true to the source material the movie is, and the devotion of the people who made it. Hating, a curse to humans indeed

Me and zilla are friends.  i get along with him, he gets along with me. So why can't you humans give him a chance, eh? And what if the new movie makes references to the .... Um.... Accident that the '98 movie made. So let's give zilla A chance to get some credit here. Just because he's a giant iguana doesn't mean he's a bad monster. I'd hate to claw out your guts.... Maybe not.

When I locked at the trailer for he tenth time.... Ahem.... I thought about when he said that "we were trying to kill it wuh the nuclear tests." I thought that maybe he was talking about the MUTO. But Godzilla happened to be a side creation by accident.
