As a child, I loved Godzilla because I thought his design was awesome and loved seeing him fight other awesome looking monsters. But as I grew older I started to appreciate other things about Godzilla, specifically the original Gojira. What truly made me a fan of Godzilla was realizing that he was so much more than a large, cool-looking animal. When I realized Godzilla was an allegory for the Hiroshima/Nagasaki bombings I never looked at him the same way again. It definitely made me realize just how terrifying the original movie is when trying to view it as someone who was actually there would. Seeing Godzilla as being a physical representation of the atomic age makes me realize what it means when he is referred to as a force of nature. It really puts it into perspective for me to think that one being could wield so much power. He is basically power incarnate. So,yeah. Thats what made me a big fan, rather than just a casual fan. Also, he stomps cities.
I for one think the red atomic breath would be better because it would beautifully compliment the new godzilla design. When you look at the new trailer, you don't see the short,plump godzilla with odd intelligence that came out 30 years ago (I think),no, you see a dark malovent creature, the sum of mankinds sins against itself, the true fury of mother natures wrath; and if you give something like that bright blue neon breath, no one is going to take that seriously. I respect the fact that fans are nostalgic about the blue breath but lets face it you gotta look at the bigger picture. Gareth Edwards wants the movie to be in-depth, emotionally compelling and subtley terrifying so that the movie can appeal outside of the godzilla community.
My favorite is Save the Earth for Xbox. I still play that game when taking a break from Dark Souls or Skyrim. If Unleashed had better controls, it would be my favorite but unfortunately thats not the case.
Cool idea Godzooki. I could see the use of bat DNA being an explination for this creatures origins in the movie.
I would love to see a new Godzilla game for the new consoles. I would love a Godzilla game with some RPG elements such as a leveling system, open world and a well written story. I think it could be done, I just don't see it happening. But here's to hoping ;)
i'd say two would be enough in the new one if they made a series, and it would have to be an adopted son, no biolgical bullshit becuase it doesn't feel right that godzilla has a biological son, i find it bettre that he finds a younger member of his species and takes it as his own
I always thought that crushed train car was from a foot, but i never noticed the prints in the sand. Cool find.
^I'm going to.
In the Showa series there were three Godzillas, the original, the second one and Minya.
The Heisei series there were three as well, the original, the Heisei Godzilla and Godzilla Jr.
In the Kiryu movies there were two, the original, whom became Kiryu and the new Godzilla Kiryu fought.
Dr. Yamane, at the end of the original film, speculated there were most likely more of Godzilla's species. There's no way to tell if he were the first of his kind because who knows how many Godzillas were still sleeping around the world or if the bomb simply obliterated the others and only two survived.
I think it's safe to assume the same with the new one.
@Jogher,
Thanks. I've seen the textless one before, where did you find the one with the red text?
I hate the trolls that use Godzilla to make fun of us. Nothing about the movie itself.
here is a picture to show how I the movie
Sorry if the image doesn't work.
But remember I love you all.
So far I'm disliking the fact that you guys' time machine is working and mine isn't. Cuz appearantly everyones been to the future and back and seen the damn thing except for me. :\
@JUNKERDE I just think it looks too alien like. Doesnt look like something that would be found on this planet. I just dont agree with the choice. Hopefully it gets killed off early in the movie.
you can't blame and get angry at someone if they think cloverfield came first or if they have no knowlege, after the 2000 there has been no godzilla movie that a typical tv watcher or a movie goer has watched, those who probably thought godzilla came as an inspiration to cloverfield were probably born after 2000, while those who liked or only knew about 1998 were born in the late 80's and the 90's and very early 2000's for both 98 movie and 2000. besides the people who have no knowlege on godzilla were born at the wrong time and the movies weren't treated special like big movies today are, i didnt no about godzilla untill i watched 98 and the hanah barbarah series
These drawings look great. I have to admit, I wasn't overly fond of the design at first, but the more I see it the more I like it. Can't wait to see how the creature moves and fights in the movie.
@JUNKERDE, indeed.
anyway, so far, i hate nothing, the inception sound may be overused, bu some people say the same thing about godzilla, so i dot care too much about. in the end i do have fears about the movie, and nothing to really hate, at east not yet. as long as they dont over limit godzilla, thats my one, big fear,which after seeign the trailer with the nukes and everything, i dont think they are going to do that.
The bigger the more destructive!
i dont know why the forums dont have a simple feature like a "reply to" or "quote" but anyway, @MIKEYNAMEZ, any bit of realism was already thrown out the window with Godzilla.
The realsim is in HOW the public would react, how they REALISTICALLY deal with these things and the consequences.
This trailer is visually stunning! Everything about it just gives me chills!
well looks like we got a Godzilla vs Cloverfield movie afterall...
(i actually like the Muto design, just sayin)
He was the last of his kind and the first of his kind. He needs a mate to reproducebut he's the only one. And yes please don't bring up minya or minilla
Is it just me or does the top Muto look a lot like the "What's this?" Muto? Maybe Muto that was shown at the 2013 Comic-Con is the 8-legged Muto?
That MUTO toy is absolutly terrible. Better be completly changed for the movie. Any bit of realism they had going on has been thrown out the window.
Great find. I never saw that before.
@ANDYTAK-WTF DUDE
That's not what I was asking. The point of this thread was: has there been any confirmation anywhere of them releasing NEW Godzilla 2014 shirts (basically, another batch of them) with different designs and whatnot? For example, I saw that this one site had these new G14 shirts with his design and the logo on it:

And I must say this one looks pretty cool, I wonder if Hot Topic is getting any of these or anything similar. This is the March merchandise/advertising embargo for this movie so IF they're getting them, I'd like to think they're coming out pretty soon. Or they might wait until a few weeks before the actual movie comes out like they do with most of their movie Ts.
I expected something more spider-like. But it is unofficial fanart. Either way, it looks awesome.
I'm probably the only one who feels this way but I'm kinda disapointed that at least one muto will be the same size as Godzilla. I wanted them to be a small nuisance and the main struggle to be man vs. Godzilla. I don't feel this needed a typical monster vs. monster throwdown. I'm sure when the movie comes out I'll have no complaints but out of my three favorite Godzilla films two of them featured ONLY Godzilla.
I thnk the final enemy would be a Space Godzilla incarnation. The is soooo much potential in this guy.
Only one real complaint so far. as mentioned above by several:
1. The Brooooommm noise in the trailer, or "Inception Fart," is getting out of hand in movie trailers. Whoever did the trailers for Inception unwittingly opened the Pandora's Box of LOUD NOISES...
1.I really hate all this hush secret top secret crap going on plus keeping all the monster designs hidden
2.I hate all of these fake news and that always having fake news.
3.when we get the toys I thought they would look boss! but when i saw them I.......:'( (well maybe just for the bandai toys)
4.besides that i love evrything else about the movie and i think the bwoorm sounds actually adds to the creepiness but the marketing is crappy
I am loving all that's happening with this movie...HOWEVER....
I really dislike the banner used for the toys:

But remember, I love you all. <3
The head's th emost interisting part for me..
I say no. I love Kong, and I love godzilla infinitely more, but in my opinion they should stay in their own universes. I never liked the original because Godzilla had to be downgraded, while Kong had to be upgraded and by that point neither creature is a true representation of what they are meant to be. I understood having to increase Kong's size, but giving him electrical abilities, and making Godzilla suddenly weak to electricity always bothered me. And then there was the fact that Godzilla was dominating the fight, but loses when the fight is taken underwater. I just dont see a good version of this story, that stays true to the lore behind both creatures ever being put on film.
Sorry, I just had too.
Just to be annoying, YES. I hope he dies. :)
Nah, id be fine either way. I mean, if it works for the story, id be fine with him living or dead.
