Would you like to see a new Godzilla vs. King Kong movie?

AdminSpaceGodzillaAug 10, 20138130 Views31 RepliesAs we all know (and hope for), Godzilla (2014) could potentially spawn a ton of new Godzilla movies, both in Hollywood and out East, with Toho re-igniting the franchise as well. One of the Godzilla films which tends to resonate well with fans, I think, could use a "rebirth" if you will. What do you think about a remake of Godzilla vs. King Kong? No, not Peter Jackson's King Kong, I'm talking the GIANT Kong, from the original Toho production. With the level of CGI at filmmakers' disposal, we could see quite an epic reboot of this iconic film.

Yes, this is by far my most demanded remake. Enough of the Mothra, King-Ghidorah and Mechagodzilla requests. They appear in 5 or more Godzilla films each... it's boring... This is the classic brawl that needs a modern update. Plus, it has the highest attendance figures for a Godzilla film to date. The words King Kong and Godzilla together create buzz.

I would Love that.
The original film was good even though the costumes were very goofy.
But would Love o see a Remake, But please don't use the same exact plot from the original.
HighRiseKaijuAugust 11, 2013
That would be brilliant!
To see the true West Vs East battle with new technology would be one of the greatest cinematic events since the original film

NelsMonsterXAugust 11, 2013
Yes! A Peter Jackson and Guillermo del Toro collaboration! One that would work out this time. :)
MiketheG7453August 11, 2013
oh yes....that would be great....NOT! I want to see the series revived...not stopped dead in it's tracks.....these kind of ideas would do just that.....sheeesh.....
LaryAugust 11, 2013
I would love to see that come to pass. I believe it would be a hit especially for King Kong fans.
HistoryManAugust 11, 2013
If they were smart, they'd make a new version of the Charles Barkley/Godzilla basketball commercial or some kind of other jokes using the new Godzilla design that gets people's attention. Yes, this is a serious Godzilla movie, but it would get people talking. Or if all else fails as Easter eggs.

If you got permission to rewrite cannon on Kong or supercharge his growth, then I GUESS so. It needs to have the "Godzilla wins" ending. Never was there such a betrayal as watching it a 2nd time as a kid and Kong won. Huh? Otherwise Godzilla just "Bambis" him or eats him like the Rancor ate the Gamorrean Guard.

They should NEVER not never in a million years make that movie,my op of course.

Huge-BenAugust 12, 2013
i would have to say yes...... and no because it would be a great rematch between the two but we all know it wouldnt be right because for those who believe kong won you are WRONG when was the last time you ever heard a gorialla even breathe underwater for that movie kong got knocked out twice for a 10 count and seeing that he cant breathe under water he got the hell out of godzillas path

Hell yes! Godzilla deserves a rematch with King Kong! The mighty rumble must happen again!

Godzilla 2016August 14, 2013
Yes I would love to a Remake of that Movie. But make Godzilla win against King Kong.
GazillaAugust 15, 2013
Hell no! I never saw Kong as a match for Godzilla and as much as I love Godzilla and I own all of the Kong films.... I have no interest in seeing a remake.

Red 5August 16, 2013
I think a remake of King Kong vs. Godzilla would be impressive so long as they used actual people in the costumes and only used CGI for the extra dynamic action scenes, like Kong throwing Godzilla over his shoulder and down on the ground, or going over the shoulder and throwing Godzilla far across the landscape. If King Kong can handle 2 T-Rex's, I'm sure he can hold his own against the King of Monsters.

Nope, nope, and uh... did I mention nope? As much as I like that movie, I say nope. I just think Godzilla and Kong should stay in their own universes from now on. I never really liked Kong much anyways. If they did make one, however, I'd still see it and be excited about it.

A wonderful idea! Honestly I can respect fans who say the two should stay in their own universes. Seriously though, they're two gian movie monsters so their universes kinda compliment each other and it makes sense for them to overlap. Also if Toho Studios could've afforded the licensing fees for King Kong he would've been in more than just the original and King Kong Escapes to begin with. I don't know how many people heard that rumor that persisted for a long time that Toho Studios made two versions with each winning before, but if they remade it I think it would be a perfect way to call it a draw and both iconic movie monsters win in their own respect. I'm a huge fan of both and I think a remake under such a premise would only do equal justice to both. I do agree that the original left the ending looking like a logical draw. Awesome movie and I'll always cherish it, but a modern remake would definitely be great if it got done right.

Yes I agree we fans have been long awaiting for a Godzilla Vs King Kong II. There's no question in my mind it would do great. I do see it getting done much quicker then Paquiao Vs Mayweather LOL!!

How about Avengers battling an invasion and the when a new level of the invasion overwhelms them with giant monsters, we then hear Godzilla's roar, and he joins the battle.

Captain ScifiMarch 02, 2014
Hell yes, we need a modern version. not spliced together for american's but made by both Toho and Universal. Like Godzilla is attacking Japan and the president of Japan contacts the President of the US who sends out a team to Skull Island to retreave King Kong and ships him to Japan where the epic fight takes place.

Honestly-- I think this boat has sailed a long time ago. As much as I'd love to see it revisited in a respectful way, I just don't think it'll ever happen, sadly.
That being said, I'm fairly certain I don't want Peter Jackson any where near Godzilla. I wasn't really satisfied with his need to make Kong 3 hours long (with an excrutiating half-hour boat ride that made me want to jump off a cliff). Plus I don't think Jackson is that great of a director (Preparing for the hate, I aint scurred)-- he just doesn't seem to motivate his actors really well... But that is just me. I felt like his King Kong remake was really missing something, probably spirit... it just... had too much of something and not enough of what it really needed.
Plus that and the fact that Peter Jackson is an avid GODZILLA hater. Honestly, the more I see about PJ, the more I dsilike him.
I also don't think Deltoro would ever work with Peter Jackson after the whole Hobbit Fiasco.
He is 350ft Tall people, those things on his neck ARE gills, and the Brazil photo is part of the final advertising design-- Deal with it.

AkagiMarch 03, 2014
@linkzilla
I saw at least two posts mentioning PJ.
That is where I got it. Regardless, can't stand the guy. If you like him, cool for you. I don't have to.

I say no. I love Kong, and I love godzilla infinitely more, but in my opinion they should stay in their own universes. I never liked the original because Godzilla had to be downgraded, while Kong had to be upgraded and by that point neither creature is a true representation of what they are meant to be. I understood having to increase Kong's size, but giving him electrical abilities, and making Godzilla suddenly weak to electricity always bothered me. And then there was the fact that Godzilla was dominating the fight, but loses when the fight is taken underwater. I just dont see a good version of this story, that stays true to the lore behind both creatures ever being put on film.
Godzilla1993March 30, 2014
If it means downgrading Godzilla and upgrading Kong.. like they did in the orginal, then nope!

Creepercraft193April 25, 2014
I have an idea for it. It is an alternate version of King Kong instead of them bring him to new york they bring him into japan because he's the only one who can stop godzilla they use a serum to make kong big enough to fight godzilla (sound pretty corny but it is the only thing I can come up with) maybe this might happen or maybe not but I hope it will happen. Or else.
....

Durp004April 26, 2014
God yes it would probably be the greatest movie of either series. I'm going to go ahead and jump on that hypetrain before any evidence the movie is even being considered
