Some monsters with a lot of sequl potential to me would be monstorsities like Biollante, Hedorah, or even a redesigned Destroyah. Other monsters similar to Godzilla could incude Rodan or Anguirus. Ultimately though, there are a lot o monsters that would not really fit with the tone of what Gareth seems to be doing. I doubt we'll se him helm a film including King Ghidorah, Gigan, Mothra or Mechagodzilla any time in the foreseeable future.
I can get why you didn't put down keizer gidorah, but spacegodzilla absolutely deserve the the tittle of "godzilla's ultimare foe". Spacegodzilla unlike most of godzilla's foes he is pure evil coming to earth to conquer earth for himself. Spacegodzilla is also is one of the if not smartest monster in the godzilla serise and hell it took two monster to kill him, so my vote to godzilla's ultimate foe goes to spacegodzilla.
But of the options my vote goes to KG.
More likey Neca cause there toys are harder and sometimes bigger.
while SH MA are too small to expensive and to fragile.
I like all the opinions, and I'm going to update the main post, but please, refrain from mentioning Keizer Gidorah and Space Godzilla.
There is a reason I didn't mention them above (Keizer only appearing for an extremely short amount of time compared to everyone else and SpaceGodzilla's reliance on crystal structures for power. Without them, he's a potatoe.)
I will also add my opinion to the main post.
KEEP IT UP GUYS! :D I LOVE IT! [GIDORAH'S IN THE LEAD!]
I agree with GojiFan101. It's a Godzilla relaunch. In the trailer they said they awoke somethin in 1954. They could be in cannon with the first movie or at least have used the Oxygen Destroyer to eliminate the first Godzilla. Plus the only skeleton in any Godzilla movie have been the skeleton of the orignial Godzilla. I think they could do Kiryu/Mechagodzilla III for a sequel.
Don't you guys think that the neca and the SHMA are the same?
I think Zilla is a cool looking monster. He's no Godzilla, but on his own, I believe he was a pretty solid monster. I respect him for pretty much introducing me to Godzilla. Well actually, I'm not sure which was my first Godzilla movie, Godzilla 98 or Godzilla vs King Ghidorah, but either way, I still like Zilla. So yeah, I like Zilla and respect him, I just think he was in the wrong movie.
@ Devianteist, no problem my friend. You are not the first to make that mistake. I think someone else did it as well, but I can't remember the username. Oh well, doesn't matter.
@AMERIGOJI there is an article that confirms that the skeleton is Goji's. Plus compairing the skeleton and the Muto figure they look nothing alike. I would like to add the theory about they using Godzilla's skeleton as a base for a new mechagodzilla. However that wouldn't connect to the "monster island" theme that Gareth said he wanted.
King Ghidorah. Mothra is more likely to join forces with Godzilla for the common good. Mechagodzilla gets destroyed some how in the end (except for 3) and military weapons never worked before. Destoroyah was the only kaiju that was killed by the militray. Seriously, watch the end of Godzilla vs Destoroyah. He gets shot down by freeze rays. King Ghidoarah is the only one that I can call his true ultimate foe. But I still think there is more than one ultimate foe *cough SpaceGodzilla *cough Monster X/Keizer Ghidorah *cough Destoroyah *cough King Ghidorah. Opps, it seems I listed all the monsters I consider (in my opinion) to be Godzilla's ultimate foe's.
Not even I, the great JetJagaSushiMan, had ever conceived of godzilla being this cool. He's like so many things at once, already has more character in his face in some of the official pics than I have ever seen in any kaiju or toho monster anywhere.
@Godzillaser : I went to an artist contest last year and i lost..:p
@Devianteist : Maybe you're right! but i will add some subtle easter eggs though..
Yeah I'm with AMERIGOJI, as cool as it would be it wouldn't fit with the tone of the new series
Eh, seems far-fetched. We don't really know if it's a Godzilla skeleton, it could be a Muto for all we know. And Gareth Edwards said he was trying to make the movie as realistic as possible. So the possibility of a 350-foot-tall-giant-mecha being constructed is very slim.
Well, if you're talking about Godzilla in general, I'd say either King Ghidorah or Mechagodzilla; Ghidorah because the movies generally treat him as being Godzilla’s arch-nemesis, and Mechagodzilla because, unlike Ghidorah, he is consistently one of Godzilla’s more formidable foes in all of his appearances.
However, if you mean the most powerful/deadliest foe any Godzilla has ever faced, I'll have to go with Destroyah. I know some might give that title to Keizer Ghidorah due to his energy-draining ability, but just look at what Destroyah has: incredible durability, a powerful micro-oxygen ray, a horn laser that can slice a kaiju clean in half, the ability to break up into smaller forms and recombine as good as new, the aggregate forms ability to inject micro-oxygen into a foe (which seemed to negate Godzilla Junior’s regeneration), being able to essentially use the Oxygen Destroyer underwater in its microbe form, and, oh yeah, an energy-draining ability (so potent that, in just a few seconds, he drained so much of Burning Godzilla’s energy that he momentarily stopped glowing). Aside from that, he was the only monster ever to successfully kill any Godzilla (I do count Junior). He is the incarnation of the only weapon ever to kill Godzilla, after all.
This is epic.i like it. At least they didn't use the same face as always.whew!
Adult Jr. SHMA figure? But the silhouette of Jr. at the end of Destroyah was the DesuGoji suit with all the lightbulbs turned off...
Adult Jr. SHMA figure? But the silhouette of Jr. at the end of Destroyah was the DesuGoji suit with all the lightbulbs turned off, and the DesuGoji suit was the MogeGoji suite from Godzilla vs. Spacegodzilla...
I like that. It's pretty cool
Getting SHMA version, no doubt. NECA has made some pretty good figures over the years, but I can afford to wait for the MonsterArts one. Same with Hokmuto if he's created.
Say what you will about the Man of Steel movie it had a heck of a soundtrack
Just as Good as the trailer
My choice is Destoroyah. A creature basically created from the only thing known to kill Godzilla sounds like an Ultimate Foe to me. A lot of people say King Ghidorah but I don't see it. KG is definitly the most reoccuring villain but most of the time he's being mind controlled and never personally goes after Godzilla. Destoroyah on the other hand killed Jr. right in front of Godzilla, and has shown to do critical damage to Godzilla unlike KG. MechaGodzilla is probbaly a second close one to ultimate foe.
AWESOME. Especially the end roar, so powerful!
Eventually I'll do those.
This was part of Cracked's quick fix (which lets people write their own arcticles, which is a horrible idea since it allows trolls to run wild) and the staff had nothing to do with it.
As a kid I liked to think Godzilla as male, but now it strikes me that he might be female because endocrine -the hormone that makes women "women"- is found in nuclear bombs and according to "Godzilla vs King Ghidora" he was a T rex that was hit with radioactivity froma nuke during world war 2 but only after saving the Japanese people from the future from the American Soldiers. So although I like to think of Godzilla as a boy theres no hiding fromthe truth. Though everyone refers to him as male so I guess we could also call him male.
Am I nuts, or have there been several topics on this recently? :P
No matter, I've been saving up for a year in preperation for this film, so I'll be getting both! :) I just pray both companies give a us Mutos!
Well, it depends on the film. The first film was more adult oriented, but featured some kiddy elements so the kids that Daiei knew would go the the movie weren't board. Gamera vs Barugon was VERY adult oriented, with little monster action and a heavy human plot that would have lost the kiddies. Noriaki Yuasa returned to direct the third film, Gamera vs Gyaos, and he was far more willing to, for lack of a better term, pander to the child audience that was consuming monster films in the mid 1960's. Following Gyaos's success, the series was aimed ENTIRELY at kids. This is when the famous Gamera song was introduced, and the plots featured children as the main characters. Apparently kids in Japan were less sensitive than kids here were, because, or so I've read, the kiddies ate up the violence and gore that became a staple of the Gamera franchise. If you ever wondered why Godzilla shed so much blood in the 70's films, its Gamera's fault. :) The plots got more silly, the budgets got smaller, and by the time of Gamera vs Zigra in 1971, the only adults in the theater were those that brought their children to see the latest adventure of their giant, fire breathing hero.
That was awesome. The music goes so well with it.
i think it was aimed at kids becuase i think that the godzilla movies showed that most of the demograpic who watched these movies were kids and while godzilla hadn't aimed at kids yet i think gamera stared straight away.
A free for all. Godzilla 1954, Godzilla 1995, Godzilla 2014, King Kong, Destroyah(final form),biollante, Rodan, Slattern, Scunner, Leatherback, kraken(big octopus), Kraken(greek myth), Typhoon(Greek myth), Rainbow serpent(aboriginal dreamtime) and me. Fight in New Zealand.
