I will definitely get the 24 inch from head to tail version.
I'm with ya Something Real!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@DRAGONLORDTEVIN
Sorry about the confusion.
Yeah I meant to say that Godzilla had to spend more money on their cast.
Pacific Rim's cast was pretty cheap (yet surprisingly cost effective)
I laughed a lot louder than I shoul have haha!
I hope the dog makes it.
definently alot better than mine of course it would be because they are pro's
Well i wasnt really trying to be agressive or anything, and yes sorry if my opinion about this website is bull but you know, lots of negative things have been going on this website before and I still hold a few grudges of those.
But alright if you consider this website a newsly one too then ok its urs so you can name it what it is ;)
Yeah Dragonlord, I would consider this to be a news site. Just because it has a social component doesn't mean that it isn't news as well.
Sure, not allof the news on here has been as well vetted as it should have been. But it's been a long time since that last happened. This site has been pretty reliable on the whole.
Ergo, if GorillaWhale is genuinely interested in avoiding coverage about the movie, it would probably be best for him to avoid this site as well. Anytime there is a major update, it's usually posted here within the hour of it happening, and even for someone who wants to keep themselves spoiler free, sometimes those links are just too tempting to click on :-)
@Godzillasaurus rex no you can be paralyzed but still be standing you would just be frozen in place
@Godzillasaurus,
The way I see it, if it's noticably CGI on a small screen like a mobile phone, laptop, or PC, then those problems will only become glaringly obvious when shown on a gigantic screen.
@Madison,
You've got a point there. I knew that Pacific Rim had a bigger budget, but I didn't take into account the cost of obtaining the copyrights.
Madison
"Pacific Rim had a bigger budget than Godzilla, and less of that money had to spent on copyrights and award winning cast members, so of course the CG is going to be better than Godzilla's."
Were you talking about pacific rim having to get award winning cast members or Godzilla?? Cuz pacific rim?? With award winning cast members??? No way haha just no way
@Madison,
That is very true.
@Dragonlord Tevlin, I know you make posts like that just to see what kind of rouse you can get out of us, and that's fine. But just to clarify your passive aggressive points, when you search for Godzilla 2014 news, what sites come up first? When you look on Facebook for pages other than the official outlets, which pages do you find actively sharing NEWS?
I just think it's funny you consider us a social outlet and that's it. You don't see many other kaiju related, let alone Godzilla related sites, actively promoting and reporting news like us. We act as a double platform - providing a kick ass social environment for hard core fans as well as a news platform to keep everyone informed. Just sayin'. ;)
@GorillaWhale, I know! It seems like forever ago that news would come in once a month. I remember when filming started and we saw a pic of a crashed helicopter and people were going nuts, being like "Godzilla used his atomic breath to burn that!" haha, people were so hungry for any info they could get their hands on and now we've got so much we can barely keep track of it all!
We have come a long way and we'll continue to grow as we await the all but confirmed sequels, without a doubt.
The CG more or less looks like what I expected.
It's pretty good, but definitely not top of the line.
It's hard to get top of the line effects on a bugdet of $160 million, especially when significant portions of that budget has to go towards expenses that other popcorn blockbusters just don't have....like purchashing the rights to an international icon from another studio.
Pacific Rim had a bigger budget than Godzilla, and less of that money had to spent on copyrights and award winning cast members, so of course the CG is going to be better than Godzilla's. And even Pacific Rim's budget was less than $200 million iirc. $200 mil + seems to be the going benchmark nowadays if you want have to have cutting edge effects.
For $160 mil, I'd say the Godzilla effects are quite the bargain. Weaker than Pacific Rim's sure, but I expected that.
That being said, 'weaker' does not equal bad. I thought overall, the effects look very good, I'm satisfied with what I've seen, and I can't wait to see it on the big screen.
Godzillasaurus Rex actually i dont think CG looks any different on a bigger screen, only the quality.....
Duratok I hoped for it to look better lol this is 2014 for crying sakes and this CG looks like 5 or 4 years ago.
@Duratok
Movies aren't meant to be watched on Youtube or phones and whatever.
I personally think it looks quite nice. Looks very great.
The cloud in the Janjira Power Plant was probably the nuclear radiation.
The railroad cloud I didn't notice but I'm going to assume it's from wreckage or a fire.
And if Godzilla was paralyzed, wouldn't he have been lying down?
Yeah i posted this first in the merchandising thread and asked if this was really the neca toy.
LOOKS AMAZING AND MUCH BETTER THAN THOSE OTHER NECA PICS!!!!
Honestly am I the only one here who thought the neca toy looked like crap? Thats why I never talked about it lol but now seeing it from these pics i might start thinking about it now.
Does anyone here realize how much smoke is being used in the movie?? Or should I also say fogs and clouds?? Looks amazing btw but do you guys think its from the mutos or this movie just like smokes and fogs?
Well glad to hear this hope youre all honest. lol
My only complaint about the movie is that the CG looks dated. I was hoping they'd look at least as good as the Pacific Rim creatures and jaegers, if not better.
Yeah I specificly posted a snapshot of that scene and you were even able to see the timing on my picture too so I see no point of this thread.
I know ive done this already before but I learned my lesson, but hopefully you can too ;D
I'm thinking it is a weapon. We saw a cloud at the power plant. Then we saw another cloud at the railroad tunnel, which knocked out the flashlights on the soldiers guns. Could be some kind of gas attack, as Lopsquid suggested. As a defense, many species of millipedes release small clouds of hydrogen cyanide.
Wow and its not even April Fools anymore haha
Linkzilla I couldnt agree any more, this movie is going highly unaccurate, much different than how realistic I thought it would be.
Im not hating on the movie (WHY WOULD I LOL) but one problem I have is that you see Godzilla move waayyy too fast for something that big and that he does absolutely NO earthquakes when taking each step.
I hope critics will ignore these mistakes so Godzilla doesnt get bad ratings, or if these unaccuraties get fixed but Im pretty sure theyre done with all these scene editing, or maybe not cuz movies go through editing after filming, but idk i feel like its likely they wont change the scenes like this
HaHa....Good one!
Exactly, DragonLord Tevin, Tarrelzilla, and King_Of_Zombies.
not as good as Pacific Rim, but way better than Peter Jackson´s King Kong or James Cameron's Avatar, so it's good enough for me.
daikaiju_danielle Hah dont even bring that up haha, and yes im pretty sure everyone here got the recognition of that scene. Honestly I wished it looked kinda different when Godzilla's spine is sticking out of water so it doesnt look too much like zillas
@DESTROYER OF WORLDS this is a great idea! I'm doing something similar in the month running up to release day as I'm going on a temporary hiatus from all new Godzilla '14 news/videos etc from that date 'til I see the film. So basically I'm not watching all of the Godzilla films, because honestly I don't really enjoy them all (is that bad?). But I will be watching 16 of them. So will keep an eye on your channel & follow the marathon day by day & share my thoughts on the ones I do watch. This is gonna be awesome. What a month we have in store :) :)
Those patterns are the same as when Brody is looking at the monitor and knows his wife is in danger. I think they are radioactive signatures.
I thought it looked excellent. I know some people thought the water looked a little meh but IMO cgi isn't to the point where it's able to look very real, so I thought it looked fine (especially when it's interacting with the hawaii landscape). A lot of the enviornment shots looked so real that it was almost scary lol
