I'm pretty sure I told you a while ago, that those type of trailers would be shown before Godzilla, but at least they finally released a trailer to the public so I can't complain too much, but yes the advertising is horrible so far, especially when as I've pointed out before, there are quite a few big name movies coming out the same month and advertising needs to start soon if Godzilla hopes to keep up.

I'm not asking to see the movie, I'm saying don't post a trailer that's almost 3 minutes and then make a 3rd of it people skydiving. Understand the difference? This was a trailer for a GODZILLA movie so what do I expect to see in said trailer? Well sure as hell not some1 skydiving even if it did show a quick glimps of him. The 1998 trailer didn't show him and that made it so much better. You saw what he was doing, it didn't give anything away either, and didn't show "all the good parts" but conveyed a message that made you want to go see the movie.

Where did I say show me the movie? Nowhere I said don't fill the trailer with useless scenes, perhaps before you tell me to use my brain you should use your eyes.

If the MUTOs are being compared to Vishnu, then they are even more close in relation to Destroyah, which DID have the power to destroy the world. Think about these craters, and what it's like inside of the earth, there isn't any oxygen inside, now is there? Now I want you to think about what would happen if a creature came in contact with something it wasn't normally exposed to, and instead of dying from it, it only made it stronger. These creatures might absorb oxygen itself, or even worse, break it down. Now, what other monster in the Kaiju realm did just that...

@DURPOO4 Do you realize how many trailers today show all of the good parts of the movie? This trailer does what trailers should do by leaving a lot of the awesome scenes for the movie, but still giving you a few things to speculate on. This Godzilla follows the tone of the 1954 Godzilla, which didn't focus on Godzilla, it focused on the humans around him. I'm sure you'll get to see a lot of Godzilla action when he fights the MUTOs, but this is THE FIRST FREAKING TRAILER. What did you expect, 20 minutes out of the whole movie? Then why even go and watch the movie? Use that brain in your head a little. The mystery is what makes you want to see the movie. 

The tones of the trailers are completely different so it's hard to compare but honestly in advertsing alone the 1998 one is better in my opinion, as it has no useless time fillers. The 2014 trailer has almost a minute of the air jump, and easily takes up a third of the trailer. Gives you scenes just to show the main actors, rather than convey the movie. The 1998 1 was centered around Godzilla, what he was doing the scenarios he was in ect. As much as people hate that movie any1 alive at the time would have to admit the marketing for the film was genius to gain hype. Much better than the current marketing we're seeing now.

The 2014 trailer hands down. It captures the tone perfectly, while the 1998 trailer doesn't really seem to have a tone. Besides, you actually get to see the full design of Godzilla in Legendary's trailer. Looking back on it now, the Tristar trailer was pretty much full of lies. 

I honestly liked the '98 trailer better. I've never seen any Godzilla movie, but I've seen part of the '98 Godzilla, and from what I saw, it was interesting. I haven't seen enough if the movie to form an opinion though.

I have been watching Godzilla movies since I saw the original as a kid in the 60's and I have the complete set of all the Godzilla movies ever made except the one Hollywood trashed in 1998. I hope they bring back the old with the new and make it a Great Movie! The trailer looks great!

for me, i dont care as long as the movie isnt ruined with inaapropriate scenes and tons of uneccesary cussing. godzilla should be the focus.

interesting, very interesting, i will have to look into this more. if these mutos are coming from the pits, then they have probably been around a while, different variaties of them too, then they could be used to explain certain aspects of mythology.

he would definetly be more armored and simple than a jaeger, having too many complex little pieces is bad when your fighting, lots of things can go wrong. as far as style goes, i like matt franks mecha godzillas the best, especially the first two.

I agree, also; Pacific Rim was more of a video game on the big screen, with alot of over-the-top vibe. Godzilla will be the other end of the spectrum: dark, grim, and (from what I've read), no happy ending. It would be awkward to put these two together without the American Godzilla losing the tone that will be set in the new movie...

interesting idea, i suppose that eventually, radiation from godzilla could make much of the planet uninhabitable, and could potentially kill off most humans. of course godzilla can be a bit slow, so by the time that would happen, i figure the humans that still survive, would have found efficient ways to sheild themselves. now the issue would be surviving all the giant monsters around. also, what if australia became monster island, or actually a monster continent? it would be an even more epic place! also its definetly big enough! just a fun thought.

He might get it at the end of the movie and this might set up a sequel.

Maybe he is the only survivor of the M.U.T.O. organization and goes to a self imposed exile working on some super weapon to eliminate all monsters.

In my professional opinion, ill be referring to the American rating system(since Canda has 14a and US does not.)

Mr.Edwards main point in making this film is to reinact what went down in the original 54 film. He wants to capture that feeling of terrorand sheer dread that was a horror/monster film. Now to translate that into the modern film indusrty, means that this movie will not be for the light hearted. People are gonna die, cities demolished, feels will be felt. 

On the flip side, there's the strong argument that if he went full R-rating, he kills a good majority of the viewers. This in turn usually kills any chance of sequels(The Monster island idea,and the chance to bring back any other original kaiju).

People want a true godzilla, including me. Not some hokey lizard, or aliens, or robots (@ least not yet.) I'd like an R-rated Godzilla, but i see It most likely being a pg-13 film, for the sake of the franchise.

THE ORIGINAL GIGAN OR THE ONE WHO APPEARED ALONGSIDE GHIDORA IS THE BEST..NOT HATING ON THE NEWER VERSIONS BUT THEY LOOK TOO STYLIZED 

PG13 makes the most sense Its a tent pole film its meant to attract large number of spectators ..even those who are unfamiliar with the franchise

The Final Wars Gigante with Scithes looks totally badass, the black and red LOL works, I dont like the original yellow and green. I also don't like Final Wars in general but Gigan picked up.

This movie is pretty much locked to be PG-13 from the get go, guys. I garuntee you it will be PG-13 by the time we see comercials around April/May.

@REXFAN YOUR A HUNDRED PERCENT RIGHT ..AND WITH THIS BEING AN ATTEMPT TO REBOOT THE FRANCHISE WHY ON EARTH WOULD YOU ELIMINATE A LARGE PORTION OF YOUR AUDIENCE? I SAY A DARK-PG13

Seems to be multiple threads on here and elsewhere pointing to a similarity between this enemy monster and Desotroyah.. interesting because while Desotroyah was an intruiging enemy, it was one of the most dissapointing Godzilla battles in all the films... despite the fact it should have been one of the greatest. Maybe Gareth Edwards sees this film as a chance to correct that. 

The biggest problem with an R rated movie is that you cut out a lot of your audience. I remember a discussion about Jurassic World a while back asking if it should be more gruesome. I'm all for a balance of violence and blood(not too much, not too little), but there is a line. PG-13 allows you to keep probably 70 percent of your audience at least. Once you reach R rating, you cut out a large chunk of your viewers. That's not something many movie companies want.

7 BILLION? ..interesting ..i kinda like that idea.. makes the monster island sequel idea even more creatable with only 1 billion people left the whole world would be a "monster island" with a small remnant of humanity struggling to survive amongst the kaijus ...AND THEIR GREAT KING.CHEERS

Thats awsome you added the casualties from ww1 and ww2 ...makes me wonder if the creative team behind this movie used a simliar method in creating a viable body count number

God zilla being well over 700 feet in this movie and kong being about 30 feet, well i just dont think so.
