MemberMothra LarvaeMay-12-2013 4:47 PMHello everybody!!
Well, this is my first post in these forums, but I've been a lurker since months ago.
As a Monster, Kaiju and creature fan, as well as a concept artist myself, I wanted to recreate my own version of Godzilla taking the leaked pic as a starting point.
And because a know that there are good Big G fans over here, I wanted to know your opinion. I tried to implement my favorite versions of Godzilla, like the Final Wars one, the Millenium one and the Tatopoulos one (yeah, I love that one).
So here it is. Please don't be too harsh!!

MemberMothra LarvaeMay-12-2013 7:37 PMIt's a cool design but personally, I think that Legendary should aim to get as far away as possible from any reminders of the 98' movie. I'm also used to seeing Godzilla in an upright position. I'm also not sure how this version in the illustration would match up against bigger opponents. But I like your illustration.

AdminSpaceGodzillaMay-13-2013 2:50 AMHey RiptorCPV! Welcome to the Godzilla 2014 forums, thanks for sharing your concept art with us! Looks pretty good, although perhaps a bit too reminiscent of the '98 Tristar Godzilla, more commonly known as Zilla. I think the Legendary Godzilla will bare a closer resemblance to previous TOHO designs, like those of Godzilla: Final Wars, GMK and any of the 90s - millenia films. Though, still a very cool piece of art and a great addition to this forum. I would like to see more Godzilla 2014 concepts you might have if you'd like to post them here as well!

MemberMothra LarvaeMay-13-2013 3:45 AMFirst of all, thanks for your comments!
I understand that reminds you of the 98 Godzilla because of the position of the body and maybe the pieces of its back. But the dinosaur lover in me couldn't make a saurian in upright position... It's too man like, and that is to detriment of a believable creature IMHO.
Anyway, I think that Legendary will do Godzilla more of a fighter than a runner, more sumo-like, and that's why I pictured it with a heavy built, although I like the chinese dragon characteristics of the classic monster like parts of the head and its long tail.
Let's see if I have time to make another version and post it right here, so I need feedback to know what elements make Godzilla according to you!

MemberMothra LarvaeMay-14-2013 8:28 PMThat's an awesome illustration. You should pitch your work to IDW. I believe they are the company that is currently doing the Godzilla comic book series which I'm ashamed to admit I have not stay on top of.

MemberMothra LarvaeMay-15-2013 2:03 PMThank you, Ray!
I'd love to work on Godzilla on any media, so that's not a bad idea at all...
Anybody could tell me how are those comics? I have a pair from Arthur Adams from the 90s and I liked them a lot. Are the IDW something like the old ones? I can't buy them in my country and I'd like to know...

MemberMothra LarvaeMay-18-2013 6:27 PMRiptorCPV those are both awesome. I think the IDW are pretty good I am patiently waiting for Godzilla Rulers of Earth series to start in June and the first battle that Big-G gets into is with the 98 Godzilla or as Toho calls him Zilla. I think that this series is going to be the best because IDW has the license from Toho to use most if not all of the Monsters we came to know an love in the Godzilla movies. Keep up the great work and I look forward to your next drawing

MemberMothra LarvaeMay-19-2013 6:42 AMThank you, @NCGZillaFan! And thanks for your answer too.
I'm eager to see those Rulers of the Earth series, because I'm a great fan of both G versions. I'll see if I can take a peek of some of the IDW comics.

MemberMothra LarvaeJul-09-2013 12:04 PMNice fan art! I always pictured a realistic godzilla standing upright like in the Japanese films when he wants to get a better look around or wants to intimidate a rival while in battle, but going to a verticle theropod like stance (albeit with a slope to its back) when running or just casually walking. This design seems to reflect just that.

MemberMothra LarvaeJul-09-2013 12:31 PMVery nice art, love the burning city illustration. Is this section just for your art, or is this open to anyone's artwork?
