I use to have nightmares of the return of Godzilla 1984 version. I definetly do not want that Godzilla being real (NO WAY). I do wish he was real only if he was a Super Heroe like in Terror of MechaGodzilla Or Godzilla Vs Megalon, but that's just the kid in me that i still have from being a fan :)

@ AKAGI I dont think old monsters design's would be screwed if anything they would be more awesome now that Movie Production & Post production is far more advance then ever. Yes I agree we should have some new monster, but maybe an old monster here & there wouldn't hurt especially for newer fans that really dont know the story of Godzilla like we do. It will help them be more curious about past films & future films, dont you think ?? this also helps promote Godzilla much more especially in social media.

I plan on doing something similar once the Dawn of the Planet of the Apes trailer goes live. We'll be launching a poll on our Facebook page and then writing an article about which one was most enjoyed by fans. I have a feeling Godzilla will be on top though. ;)

Less absurd monsters? Seriously? Everything about Godzilla and kaiju is absurd, that is the point. That is what makes Godzilla great.
But honestly, and as much as this will hurt some fans feelings, I think they should just make new monsters. I don't wanna risk old monster designs being screwed up in anyway.

I had to give it a few listens, but its faint in the background. I think that is actually really cool. Again, it may be wishful thinking as @Gojira_rex put it. I also heard King Caesar's roar.

Yeah... I think saying you hear Anguirus in the final clip is a bit of a stretch, but who knows! I couldn't make it out though. Sounded like buildings crashing and metal tearing.

I hear it as well, but I think it is our brains playing "wishful thinking" tricks on us. Think it's a combination of that and the sound effects with the music.

Anguirus. Give it a few listens. The 2:01 is clearer.

I only heard low growls from Godzilla (I'm assuming) at those time slots, which Monster did you think they were referencing?
kenyanoGodzilla 2014 ForumShould any classic Toho Monsters be referenced in Godzilla 2014?Dec 18, 2013Reply
I'm pretty sure one already has in the new trailer via SFX.
Listen VERY CLOSELY to the background noise @ 1:56-1:58 and @ 2:01-2:02, right before Godzilla's roar. I hear something very familiar!
I doubt that any Toho kaiju will actually appear in this film (for licensing reasons-I think we'd have known about it already-any lawyers out there?), but Edwards has expressed his affection for 'Destroy All Monsters' and has stated his desire to create a cinematic reality which accepts the existence of daikaiju. Even to have been handed the reigns to such a huge, major-studio project/potential money-minting machine, I have to expect that part of his thinking MUST be geared towards building a new franchise. I hope the movie is every bit as TERRIFIC as it looks so far, and makes Godzillions of dollars, so we can see more of them.
And I hope Emmerich & Devlin choke to death on each others' bowels whilst watching it.

I think only the less absurd monsters should be in this rebooted franchise. Anguirus, Rodan, Baragon, and Varan would all fit in pretty well with this new universe.

I think Godzilla should remain safely in the realm of fantasy. I enjoy action-packed and violent video games, but I don't seek that out in reality. I'd rather not have a three hundred foot tall radioactive dinosaur destroying cities across the planet while all we can do is watch and weep over our lost ones.

@CHRIS PICARD
Hey Chris, thanks for the info. Mix between old a new sounds pretty cool actually. The roar is a bit edited, so I can see where your coming from. I never got to watch the hobbit, I was really looking forward to it. I would like to see the trailer on the Big Screen, I hope to see it before it is too late. Anyway, thanks for your response. I appreciate it. I hope to hear from you again soon.

I edited your topic to show the video (because you can embed videos here, by clicking "Insert > Video > Embed" in the text editor) and I also edited your title to be more descriptive. Too many members keep posting topics with non-descriptive titles, and I ask that this stops. Please make sure your titles describe the content within them.
But as for the video, nice compliation!

I edited your topic title. I'm going to ask that people make their thread titles more descriptive. We've had a number of topics with titles like "godzilla" or "godzilla 2014". These don't describe your topic at all and won't interest people as much. So please, in the future, ensure your titles reflect what your post is about.
Now, as for the discussion - I totally agree and I think we can expect a ton of new toys and hopefully some games to spawn from this new era of Godzilla. The Godzilla brand is so well-known and popular, it will always sell. However, we won't get to see any of them for a while.
As far as marketing and exposure, I'm sure Legendary and Warner Bros. have a good plan set in place. The trailer alone gained over 11 million views in the first 3 days. People are definitely interested and from what I've heard, we can expect some seriously epic marketing soon!

You have to remember that the Godzilla roar for the new Godzilla was meant to "tease". Thats why it was partially muffled with lightening and buildings crumbling.
But I think we'll hear a very classic roar. I just got back from seeing The Hobbit and got to see the trailer for the hundredth time on the big screen, bass boosted and I noticed more low growling noises all throughout the trailer following the Halo Jump than when I did with the initial web release. Could just be my speakers, but it was cool to notice the extra sounds.
I think we'll hear a mix between Godzilla 2000 and the 1954 original. A mixture of old and new - it certainly would fit the tone and purpose of this film.

When I saw the Godzilla trailer at an IMAX theater, his roar literally shook my body. It felt that is what it would feel like if was really there. It was incredible. I really like the new roar.

I love the latest version of The King's Screech. It starts off with an almost percussive fury, then trails off to a mournful, questioning howl, which, for me, perfectly captures the character's essence. I can really feel the soulfulness of the contrabass (on which Maestro Ifukube created the original roar) in this one.
I agree, Shazo, about the '84 roar. Probably my personal favorite. Having said that, I've never heard a Godzilla roar that didn't fill my heart with pure, raw joy! I know, I'm easy, lol.
KingOfKaijus heard my previous observation too (Anguirus noises), so maybe I'm not having a complete psychotic breakdown featuring aural hallucinations.

@FREEZE!
Actually, the roar is just a modified version of the original which is a rubber glove being dragged across a broken bass string. It was changed with computer modifications like the zilla roar (which is a modification of the 1993 Godzilla roar as explained above). I like the roar too, the movie comes out 8 days before I graduate to sophomore year!

I'm liking the new Godzilla roar, however I'm a fan of the classics, they are just fun and the original sounded like a dragon. Pretty sure the sound of the roar is a mixture of several sounds like for example a lions roar, a bear, a jet engine, a creeky door, a rocking chair, a trash compactor, etc etc... mixed with chorus, distortion and echo... all thrown into a metal box. :D Is there an actual recipe for Godzilla's roar? If so, I'd love to know what they combine to make it!
